  1. I hate to ask this again but I need the same question answered. I have everything done as the guide says except for the batch file because the guide doesn't say anything other than to add specific lines to some batch file. In both methods in the guide all it says is:Simple Method: Advanced Method: If someone could address the question asked in the top quote it would be greatly appreciated. I tried to go the Slipstream route with Office 2003 since I couldn't find the answer to the above question, but going that way and creating an Admin install point, I don't understand what you do with it after it's all done other than to "burn it to a CD for storage" like the guide says. I thought it was shown in the guide as another method to integrate the Admin Install Point into the UACD, but after doing everything the guide says to create it, there's nothing to show you how to make it part of the UACD so it can be installed. I would really appreciate help here!
  2. Thanks for the answer rendrag, when you talk about "length", are you talking about the amount of driver paths entered or the "length of a specific driver path? Thanks again!
  3. I'm sorry if this was asked before, but I have searched for 2 days now and haven't found the answer. If it is somewhere here I would appreciate someone pointing me to it. After installing Bâshrat's Driver Packs, I'm trying to use the MSFN guide's "Drivers from WINNT.SIF" method to install the rest of my drivers. I'm wondering now that the "DP" folder is in the $OEM$\$1 folder, do I leave the DP, Drivers & Install folders all inside $OEM$\$1 and add my drivers to the "Driver" folder as the guide says or make new folders for my additional drivers inside the "DP" folder? The other part of this questions is about adding my additional drivers to the OemPnPDriversPath. Now that Bâshrat's Driver Packs has added it's entries to the OemPnPDriversPath; do/can I still use the MSFN guide's method: Example: "OemPnPDriversPath="Drivers\000_intel_INF;Drivers\001_gigabit_LAN;Drivers\002_monitor" and place these entries either before or after the DP entries or if I have to incorporate my drivers into the "DP" folder (as I asked above) is there an order to placing them in the OemPnPDriversPath? If I have to incorporate my drivers into the "DP" folder I would appreciate it if someone could show me some example code for the OemPnPDriversPath with any order the entries need to be in, but if I can still use the "Driver" folder, let me know if the entries need to be placed before or after the "DP" entries. Thanks for the help!!
  4. Thanks alot Rendrag & Bâshrat, that cleared up alot for me. Now, if the inf file shows a "subdirectory" as you mentioned, would I need to edit the inf file so that it shows those files are required but not in that specific "subdirectory" so that I just place all the files together in one folder for the UACD or should I put the "subdirectory" in the driver folder and when setup reads that inf it will automatically see the "subdirectory" to get those files without any additional editing to the winnt.sif? Sorry, for asking more, but I just need to know how to get all the additional "required" files placed in the $OEM$ files structure. I can't even imagine the nightmare I'm going to have trying to figure out how to get the new ATI Catalyst and components into the UACD. That alone has gotten me to thinking about forgetting about going through with this. I personally think this whole UACD process is the coolest thing since the invention of the wheel and want learn how to do this more than anything. The problem I seem to have is that there are so many different methods for doing this that it's extremely confusing as to what is the best way or the easiest way. Everytime I get set on doing things a certain way I see another way to do it. I thought using nlite would be the way to go then I see about using batch or cmd files and the options that go along with them. I hope I'm making sense. I would like to see just one of the several methods completed, start to finish, with all the bells and whistles, but "without" alternatives methods mixed in so I can see how easy or hard this is all going to be in just "one" of the methods. Anyway, thanks for all your help. Hopefully I can get enough help to build my confidence and I don't give up on it completely.
  5. I was wondering if you could elaborate a little further on the Audigy drivers needed here Bâshrat? You say to look at the [sourceDisksFiles] to see what files are needed for the drivers, does that mean that you place all the "listed" files in the 003_Sound folder along with the "inf" & "cat" files? I have to admit I'm still thoroughly lost as to "what" files actually go in the driver folders. I'm probably way off, but from reading all the post and the different guides I "think" that it's just the "inf" & "cat" files, at least all the examples I've seen show just those file types. The other thing I would like a little more help with is: the Audigy card for instance, I know that if I just install the drivers on the UACD that the "Audigy card" will be the only thing working, how do I get the Mixer or Playcenter installed? Do I have to make a silent install for the those? There are so many methods shown and talked about here that it gets confusing, at least for an old mind like mine. You can teach an old dog new tricks, it just takes a little longer. Thanks for all the help!
  6. I've tried searching for an answer to my question with no success, so if anyone can point me to the answer or just straighten things out for me I would appreciate it. The confusion I have is, when creating the Answer file the MSFN Guide says to use the "Deployment Tools" from the XP SP2 that was downloaded. When it gets to the "Distribution Share" it says to choose "Set from a CD" which (to me) means I have to stick in my "original" WinXP install CD in order to create the unattend.txt file. What's confusing me is that I read on another site (Unattend CD) that the Deployment Tools from SP2 only work with a version of Windows that SP2 has already been applied to. In other words, instead of choosing to "Set up from a CD" and using my "original" WinXP install CD to create the "unattend.txt", I should be pointing this part of Setup Manager to the folder that has the "slipstreamed SP2 version of Windows" in it to create the "unattend.txt". Can anyone straighten out my confusion with this? Maybe it doesn't matter which version of Windows I use to create the unattend.txt and I'm misreading this stuff. I just want to make sure I'm doing it right. I know that after creating the "unattend.txt that I have to change it to "winnt.sif". Thanks in advance!
  7. I just wanted to say Hello - I also want to let you know what an awesome and informative site MSFN is. I've been reading the guides and your forum for quite awhile now trying to learn something new and felt if there were any forum on the web to be associated with, that MSFN is the one. Finding people willing to share their knowledge and help those who need it without giving them a bunch of static or putting them down because they're not quite as smart as the brain child answering the question is getting hard to find these days. Thanks for making this site and forum what it is and I hope it never changes.
