  1. Yes. Thank you for your help and for making it possible, that audio does work on my notebook in Windows 98 SE. If I want to adjust the volume, I will do it with the way trough HDAICOUT.HDA. EDIT: I attachted the file, that i use currently and how the audio works with the speaker of the notebook. If you want to use the headphone version, the file HDAICOUT.HDA.000 will work. You can download it here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/178295-audio-driver-for-realtek-hd-audio-hardware-testing-thread/page/10/#comment-1163305 HP-PAVILION-dv5-1220ez_HDAICOUT.HDA
  2. I set the value at pcipatchB in HDAcfg.ini and made a copy of HDALOG.TXT. But after a restart the codec index was still at $2. There were no changes in HDALOG.TXT
  3. I didn't find anything like that in the BIOS.
  4. What does MSI mean? No, I didn't find any settings in the BIOS regarding energy saving.
  5. No problem. Before I came to this forum, I never thought that the audio would work on my notebook. But now, thanks to your help and your skills, it works. I am happy with the ability to control the volume via HDAICOUT.HDA. i installed Windows 98 SE witout ACPI-Support (with the parameter /p i). I had to do this because otherwise I have problems with it.
  6. I have removed this lines from HDACFG.INI on [HDA]: PCI_BUS=$00 PCI_DEVICE=$1B PCI_FUNCTION=$0 and in [HDA_293E8086,3621103C]: SEARCH=FALSE i tried all timings from 100ms - 1000ms in 50ms steps (and between a reboot). But the Codec index is still $2.
  7. I have now made the modification in HDAcfg.ini, but after a reboot the Codec index is still $2.
  8. I have added the last four line into HDACFG.INI on [HDA], but after a reboot the Codec index is the same ($2).
  9. Actually. That works for me too! Actually. That works for me too!
  10. I can recommend you the VBEMP 9x video display driver and does support Windows 9x: https://bearwindows.zcm.com.au/vbe9x.htm It use it on my notebook.
  11. I see. I will adjust the volume like this. But now I have found the right volume, and leave it at that Thank you for your help that audio does work in Windows 98 SE on my notebook. This seems for me to be a complex matter and I have learned a lot. I am currently writing an article about how to install Windows 98 SE on an HP Pavilion dv5-1220ez notebook. For other people who are also interested in installing Windows 98 on a modern computer. Is it ok for you if i post the listing of the HDAICOUT.HDA in that article, that i'm currently using on my notebook? HP-PAVILION-dv5-1220ez_HDAICOUT.HDA
  12. Oh, i see. Sorry, i have you missunderstanded. There are no physical buttons or keys, which i can control the sound volume on my notebook. Above the keyboard, there are some "touch-keys", which i can switch between soundtracks and which i can regulate the volume, but this "touch-keyboard" did not work in Windows 98 SE.
  13. Thanks, i've added these lines at the end of HDAICOUT.HDA and i testet it with all values on SleepingWidget / VolumeWidget / OutputWidget in HDAcfg.ini, that you give me in this post: https://msfn.org/board/topic/186298-help-setting-up-high-definition-audio-drivers-for-hp-pavilion-dv5-1220ez-notebook/?do=findComment&comment=1268834 But i can't change the volume in WAVEOUT.EXE. I have attached the HDAICOUT.HDA, that i use currently. hp-notebook-Hdaicout.hda
  14. Thank you, it works. Now I have now turned down the volume a bit.
  15. So that I am on the safe side, i tested it now with two semicolons, like you. The sound works well after a reboot I see. Is there a way to limit the volume by a value in HDAICOUT.HDA only? I try to understand the values of SleepingWidget/VolumeVidget/OutputWidget from your previous post for my interest. I assume that the values correspond to datasheet, page 34 / page 35 of the 92HD71B7 codec. The ExtVolume (NID 28h) controls DAC0 (NID 10h) and DAC1 (NID 11h). Did I understand that correctly? The datasheet, that i found: https://mm.digikey.com/Volume0/opasdata/d220001/medias/docus/642/92HD71B7.pdf
  16. Did you mean this both lines in HDAICOUT.HDA, that i added from this post today? https://msfn.org/board/topic/186298-help-setting-up-high-definition-audio-drivers-for-hp-pavilion-dv5-1220ez-notebook/?do=findComment&comment=1268914 I have it commented out in HDAICOUT.HDA: ; $01F70500;AC_VERB_SET_POWER_STATE;Power up! ; $01F70C02;AC_VERB_SET_EAPD_BTLENABLE;ExtenalAmplifierPowerUp After a reboot, the sound did work well again.
  17. Wow, it works now - The audio comes out now trough the speakers! Thank you very much deomsh. The sound comes not over the headphones now, if i connected it. But the headphones are not important to me. I discovered that the volume can be adjusted in Windows Media Player. Maybe there is a command that can be used to manually adjust the volume in Windows. Yes, correct.
  18. Ok, i have tried this: boot Windows, reboot to the MSDOS mode und back to Windows with the EXIT command. After this the line the CODEC Index did not changed to $0 (it remains in $2). Several reboots: The "CODEC Index=$2" did remain. One hard reset (I pressed the PowerOff button after Windows was booted): The "CODEC Index" remains the same I turned off the Computer an wait for one minute: It takes no effect Yes. If i use HDAICOUT.000 as HDAICOUT.HDA again, the sound does work again with my headphones. Although the "CODEC index" is $2 in HDAcfg.INI Regarding the MIDI report: I have postet it in this thread: https://msfn.org/board/topic/178295-audio-driver-for-realtek-hd-audio-hardware-testing-thread/page/29/#comment-1268869
  19. I use Windows 98SE local on my HP Pavilion dv5-1220ez Notebook, which released in 2008. The built-in audio device is: audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03). Currently I am using the HDADRV9L driver with the file HDAICOUT.000 (it works with my headphones). So that I can hear the MIDI music of the Hover! game on my notebook, I installed the Yamaha S-YXG100plus soft synth MIDI driver and it works (i can hear MIDI-Music). I followed your installation procedure and i have after it no problems. But the MIDI-Music does only play for example in the Hover! game when all other sound effects are turned off. It does not play together. The other sound effects consist of .WAV files.
  20. Thank you very much for the HDA file and for the settings for HDACFG.INI. I've renamed it to HDAICOUT.HDA and copied to C:\WINDOWS, but the sound does not work with it (not with my headphones and not with the speakers of the Notebook). I've tried the settings in HDACFG.INI, but the volume cannot be adjusted with WAVEOUT.EXE. Neither with the right nor with the left slider. If you need further information, I will provide it to you. Okay, I will do this in the thread where the instructions for installing the MIDI driver are. HDALOG.TXT HDAICIN.TXT HDAcfg.ini
  21. Thank you very much deomsh! I am very thankful. I have created a codec-dump of both codecs IDT 92HD71B7X and Nvidia MCP77/78 HDMI from /proc/asound/card0. I have included additional information in the ZIP file in case it is relevant to you. What I also noticed: The volume cannot be adjusted with WAVEOUT.EXE. Neither with the right nor with the left slider. hp-notebook_audio-codec-dump.zip
  22. Now i hear sound in my headphones! I changed 'Verbinterface=$0" in HDACFG.INI and i use HDAICOUT.000 as HDAICOUT.HDA in C:\WINDOWS now. I couldn't turn off the modem in the BIOS, but i did it via the device manager in Windows 98. I uninstalled the HDADRV9J driver and i installed HDADRV9L (with the new HDA2.dll). The sound works with my headphones too. But i hear no sound from the speakers of my Notebook. Is there a way i can hear sound through the speakers? I can hear now the Windows sounds (from .wav files) but the device does not play MIDI music. Is there a way that i can do this? EDIT: Yes correct, according to the output of (aplay --list-devices) on my Linux OS on the same Notebook it is a 92HD71B7X. EDIT (MIDI): From what I read in this post (https://msfn.org/board/topic/178295-audio-driver-for-realtek-hd-audio-hardware-testing-thread/page/23/#comment-1245427, MIDI is a different matter and requires a different driver. I've found this driver here: https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=33661 The MIDI-driver does work, after i installed it according to this post: https://msfn.org/board/topic/178295-audio-driver-for-realtek-hd-audio-hardware-testing-thread/page/23/#comment-1245427
  23. Thank you for your reply. I have 'MaxPhysPage=3E6FF' in [vcache] now deleted in SYSTEM.INI Please excuse me, i made a typo. Of course, i always copied the HDAICOUT.HDA to C:\WINDOWS Ok, i have now HDAICOUT.200 renamed to HDAICOUT.HDA and copied to C:\WINDOWS. But the sound does not work (tested with the speakers on my Notebook and with my headphones). I have tried it but it takes no effect. Do i need to install anything else? I attached the current HDAcfg.ini / HDALOG.TXT and HDAICIN.TXT from C:\WINDOWS HDAcfg.ini HDALOG.TXT HDAICIN.TXT
  24. Thank you deomsh. I attached the two files. HDAcfg.ini SYSTEM.INI
