I know this reply is probably a little late, but I'll add a reply here on the offchance someone else stumbles by this via Google (as I just did) Sometimes the STOP 0x000000BB error on RIS occurs due to DHCP errors. If it's anything like the problem I have just had, it was caused by the DHCP server allocating addresses which were supposed to have been reserved by other (active) computers around the building. One of the (few remaining) Win98SE computers threw up an error about an IP Address conflict with the MAC address of a PC I had been having the same STOP error with. I released and reserved a new address on the Win98 box, and then removed all referenced to the box I wanted to RIS. The STOP error appear this time, and the box is happily installing as I speak. The reason your PC would fail via RIS at first but work later would have been due to the fact the DHCP lease ran out
