  1. Sorry for the late reply, got involved with another notebook (an IBM Thinkpad 701c). Tested also that changes in the HDA file but still nothing
  2. Reporting back after the re-installation with DirectX 9. Everything works as before, no headphone output and no sound in Colin McRae Rally. I booted a drive with Win XP and I can confirm that headphone jack works perfectly with the correct HDA drivers. By the way, with SBEMU program under DOS I can select headphone output and it works (yeah I didn't think to test that before).
  3. There is only one flat cable. I will clean it up next time I will open the netbook which may happen soon because... I tried to install DirectX 9.0 and it broke everything! XD now system hangs just a little bit after the desktop shows up. I will try reinstall 98 from scratch and follow a proper order for everything (I think dx9 -> yamaha sgx -> hda drivers should be the best).
  4. Installed the soft midi driver and it works because now I can play midi files but that game still refuses to output any sound, so I guess it needs WDM drivers. The socket is on a daughterboard with other connections (USB and ethernet) and everything else works. But indeed I never tested the headphone output under WinXP with proper drivers, so it is entire possible that it is faulty.
  5. DirectX can't be the issue. I alway install DirectX 8.1 in 98SE and the game works okay in another Win98 PC. How can I install the midi interface? EDIT: Or perhaps dx 8.1 and HDA driver isn't a good match?
  6. I actually always tested with an headset and also with external speakers. Never heard a single thing in both cases. Well thank you very much for your help!
  7. Still no sound over headphones. Is it a big issue? I really think I won't ever need the headphones output. But if you want to still try fix it I will gladly help testing anything you want. HDAICIN.TXT
  8. Yes, I confirm that the headphones are dead silent, not even the crackle. And waveout indeed works, just a bit odd that I have to adjust manually the left\right levels but hey better than nothing!
  9. Seems nothing really changed. Headphone still silent, sound is being routed always via speakers. Also the sound volume applet doesn't open (It doesn't show up in the taskbar, I tried to launch directly sndvol32.exe), is it normal? Is there some other way to control volume level? Now it is really loud. HDAICIN.TXT
  10. Very big improvements! Actually I got finally Windows sounds from speaker and not from headphones output (which I still tried and it is completly silent). Out of curiosity I launched a game (Colin McRae Rally) and while it played sounds of the intro videos, it got silent in the game itself (just some crackling beeps when I think it tried to initialize the sound card).
  11. Thank you for your reply. Sadly still doesn't work. HDA Sound is selectable as sound peripheral is Multimedia panel but everything else is greyed out. I've attached the new log files. HDALOG.TXT Hdaicout.hda HDAICIN.TXT HDAcfg.ini
  12. Hi, I have an Asus EEE 1201K netbook with SiS chipset and Realtek HDA sound card. I installed the drivers using the *.inf file provided in the first page of this topic. It installed correctly and everything loads at boot but I don't have any sound output. Do I have to tweak some settings? I attached the ini and log files. Thank you HDAcfg.ini HDAICIN.TXT HDALOG.TXT
