ok so conclude what i understood from this thread: 1080ti >> supports vista with modded drivers [but it breaks cuda sometimes (?) also from what d draker and dixel said, the picture from it looks like acid, but im used to that tbh] 980ti >> i had it and i can confirm it sucks and im not gonna buy another one again titan x maxwell >> same as the 980ti except it has12gb of vram titan x 2016 >> might not have the problems the 1080ti has im not sure tho (could buy this one but i heard it gets hot) titan xp >> might have the exact same support as the gt 1030 for vista (which i am NOT going to be happy about, i dont wanna use 1000 patches just to run chromium or direct x apps) -

i wanted a 1080ti or titan x pascal (or as its called titan x 2016) because of their powerful graphics chip and insane amount of vram, my use case is pretty big so i kinda need more than 6gb of vram also for even more context im maining vista on a ryzen for a reason: i NEED the performance (i also have fedora linux too) -

really funny story btw So i was minding my own business, just coding on my computer (the gtx 980ti was still my main card since i gave my little brother my old rtx 2060) and then i hear a loud explosion and the computer turns off, i took out the graphics out (no visible damage), i start diagnosing the computer, replace the power supply BUT to my surprise it wasnt the power suppy. Turns out my 980ti's left power connector exploded and was fixable only with microsoldering, so i took it to a repairshop that repair this type of stuff, and then they tell me what happened; the power connector AND the gpu chip itself literally exploded and cannot be fixed unless replaced, and it wouldve costed me more more than the graphics card itself so i just retired it as a cool room decoration. So uhh no I cant just go into Maxwell BIOS Tweaker =)))) -

hello! I was referring to the titan x from 2016, it is inferior to the gtx titan xp (i dont even know if the gtx titan xp works on vista with modded drivers, and even if lets say it does i dont want it to be exactly like the gt 1030 in terms of support on vista, i dont wanna use 1000 patches just to run a game) heres a list of all the titan gpus that exist: Nvidia Titan is a series of video cards developed by Nvidia including: GTX Titan, released in 2013 GTX Titan Black, released in February 2014 GTX Titan Z, released in March 2014 GTX Titan X, released in 2015 Titan X (2016), released in 2016 >>> THIS IS THE GRAPHICS CARD I AM TALKING ABOUT! Titan Xp, released in April 2017 Titan V, released in December 2017 Titan RTX, released in 2018 -

well tbh idrc about that, i only care if they are stable and dont crash when i open some windows 7+ app from everything i see people say and my personal experience, the maxwell and pascal architecture both suck stability wise with vista, my dead 980ti had issues opening some applications because the drivers werent the best and never will be, so idk ill probably buy a titan black -

hello! to sum it up, my 980ti was fried so thats why every game failed on vista (probably?? idek or care anymore) btw if an admin sees this, pls lock this post kty
-
tbh i only care more about stability here, i want to get the best graphics card i can get that can run vista and also not crash (like my gtx 980ti, btw turns out ALL those errors i had were because the gpu chip was absolutely fried so uhh sorry D.Draker if youre seeing this, and yes my old 980ti isnt functional anymore) but heres what i care about the most - which is better? - which is more stable? - which one is the better pick? i already bought an X470 mobo since my B450 sucks with vista (yes im gonna run it on a ryzen)
-
about this, didnt work
-
hello, sorry for not checking msfn, i have to live life i think i know what causes these crashes, because some games that used to crash will partially work on an older version of the extended kernel (Extended Kernel v10262021) , which means i cant fix the problem, ill most likely run those games in a vm here are some games that crash - Granny - Totally Accurate Battle Simulator - People Playground even if you dont get them working on the gtx 980ti, its fine, vms exist and ill use them
-
its not a crash file, its an exe that sends crash info to the developer (if the developer uses Unity Cloud Diagnostics, for most of the times they dont), you can search it up but it is not a crash file didn't you ? yeah, i do, if thats the case then how to i make the games that crash run like they do on windows xp (on dx9)? EDIT : I found an article that tells you how, im gonna let you all know how it goes
-
crash files dont affect your game, they are just there to tell you what didn't work. No, you didnt get what i meant. i said "This is planned obsolescence" because of what you said about the artificial lock they put on the 36xx.xx and 37xx.xx, besides my gtx 980ti was manufactured in 2015, so its really not that old. About "Perhaps start looking towards Romanian video cards then?", i dont know what you mean by that, where can i find there romanian video cards? Maybe you meant the second hand market, idk. My super unfunny joke cant cause the crashes, its just CSDVersion, that cant cause anything, besides games dont check your service pack, and it wont matter to them (they check your NT version instead). Anyways, i tried server 2008 updates and now my vista install is corrupted, before it gets to the vista orb it glitches and restarts (i forgot to turn off osver because im an id*** and i shouldve installed them before installing the extended kernel). If they don't work, i dont know what im going to do. The games that crash on vista work on xp just fine using onecoreapi so thats even more strange...

Microsoft will no longer offer major Windows 10 updates
Aiek replied to DanR20's topic in Windows 10
Back when i used to main it i used to have a lot of issues with it, such as : - EasyBCD would always break after a while, which is a huge problem for me because i always install other windows oses - Certain functionality would break, paint always broke, net framework would not work correctly some times, the taskbar was a mess and would sometimes stop working, the explorer would randomly freeze at startup, and so on It was simply too much of a mess to use it as my main operating system, i would unironically use windows longhorn instead of 11 because at the very least it doesnt break every second. And I do kinda like the os, it isnt that terrible, the ui looks nice, i hate the taskbar but other than that i dont really hate the way it looks, but the problem with windows 11 is that its literally windows 10 just with a fancy shell. I really wanted just to stay on the latest oses back when i used to main windows 11 but i really couldnt, i tried the crappy official versions, custom isos, and so on, one time instead of maining windows 11 i just decided to main windows vista because it was much better both in performance and at basicly everything else i used it for, features or apps i used wouldnt break randomly like with 11. In general, windows 11 is just windows 10 but its shell is crappier but it looks "better" -
This is planned obsolescence! I made the game tho, i put the fps lock (by fps lock i mean so its stuck at your monitors refresh rate, for example if its 60hz its 60 fps and so on) in purpose because without vsync the game isnt the same, i will make it an option to disable it though, lets juts forget about how well the driver works. And about how i modded the driver, yes i did put it at the bottom, i didnt follow any tutorials because i know how to mod nvidia drivers, i have experience with them. And my gtx 980ti isnt broken, nor is anything in my computer. It works just fine on windows 10 (or any other os, even the games that didn't work on vista work on linux), it runs every unity game that crashed on vista very well, i have no idea what causes the crashes, but i noticed people on youtube just disable fullscreen optimizations, if only i had that option! I might try server 2008 updates, i do not have any installed right now. Anyways, do you know where i can find a leaked developer driver for my 2060? (when i feel like replacing my gtx 980ti lol, i havent used it in a month)
-
UPDATE : I have plugged in my vista ssd because i got bored of windows xp (and i also had free time), and i can tell you that driver you gave me is amazing, thank you so much! Only thing i had do modify was the nv_whql.inf, it was missing the gtx 980ti hardware ids so i added it in (%NVIDIA_DEV.17C8% = Section073, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_17C8), although windows has no idea what my gpu's name is which is kinda funny Did it fix my problem? Not really - A lot of games that didn't run before now run, ill give a few examples : PC Building Simulator 2 works, it crashed before, now it works (with my old firepro v3900 it didnt because it was too weak to run it lol) Baldi works (yes, cringe game but its unity so thats a step forward, didnt work before!) FNAF VR works, im not too sure if it crashed before or not (its unreal engine 4 so it should work even without the extended kernel) Now here is where everything goes downhill Any unity game, and i mean ANY that uses unity 2019.2, 2019.4.20 to 2020.2 will crash, no matter what, for some reason my unity game that im still working on doesnt crash, (its 2021.4 so thats unexpected, heck it runs even better it now runs at 240 fps because its vsync locked, before that it would run at 120 to 140 fps, keep in mind my monitor is 240hz) everything else works just fine, minecraft works (didnt crash before), my csgo 2015 revival works, clustertruck works, basicly any "modern" video game works. Im still confused on why any unity game on those versions dont work, they worked before just fine on my firepro v3900, so yeah... I might try windows server 2008 updates since they might do something, the osver spoof doesnt fix the crashes btw. btw i have confirmed my suspicions, 2021.2 unity games work, that new game that came out like a month ago called amanda the adventurer does work, even better than on windows 10 actually

Microsoft will no longer offer major Windows 10 updates
Aiek replied to DanR20's topic in Windows 10
Windows 10 LTSC exists, eol in 2027 Windows Server 2016 exists, eol is in 2027 Windows Server 2019 exists, eol 2029 Windows Server 2022 exists, eol 2031 and, there is definitely going to be some sort of paid "extended support", which is probably going to be like windows 7's extended support (paid) I know that this sudden "no more feature updates" thing was unexpected, however if you think about it for one minute, windows 10 was the most supported os by microsoft. Sure it had its issues and flaws but my point is it had feature updates for almost 8 years, similar to xp (sp3 was released in september of 2008, 22H2 was released in october 2022). After all Windows 11 is just windows 10 with a fancier shell, so programs are most likely gonna support it for a while even after 2025, due to other editions of windows 10 that will still be supported by microsoft. And lets be real here, this "no more feature updates" thing that microsoft does was LOOONG overdue, for example windows vista, 7 and 8.1 got feature updates for 5 years, no more than that. I'm not defending windows 11 and i still hate it because everything breaks, but i just wanted to say that feature updates for windows 10 werent supposed to be a thing after 2020 (but ms was still saying "windows 10 is the final os ever!!" back then). I still expect programs to support windows 10 for 4 - 6 more years after 2025 -
thanks, chrome 115 is unstable lmao
-
Honestly, id say you just modify the windows iso yourself with a trusted tool like ntlite, i wouldnt trust some randoms with my security (also removing windows defender isnt a good idea). If you really care about light installs that dont break randomly, just use linux, manjaro is a good place to start.

365.19 is the last version of the driver you can find on the official nvidia website (for the gtx 980ti), and about what you said, there are modded gtx 980ti drivers for xp. the modded driver was version 368.81.

I found out why they wont work, java 17 launcher however some libraries must be missing im not really sure, the game itself launches just finehowever you wont be able to connect or play a single player world, kinda sucks considering java 17 with 1.17 works just fine! I don't know how to fix this, i tried for months, maybe someone with more time and patience could, would be cool but who knows
