No, I got that very good, you even used some foul language to explain it to us. You don't like the policies of Western companies, in this case Google, so like I said, you'd have to use the Turkish browser, sorry forgot its name, and use Turkish OS so you won't bother yourself with Linux.

You still getting it toooo wrong. I said I'm using Firefox, and is it Eastern? No! LOOK IT'S WESTERN! :o

    loll.png.54ab412efb8b38b02fcc76f5725660ea.png

Seriously, what makes you think Turks don't like west? We have many people who wants to go and live in the west, thanks to Mr. President who made our country miserable.
But let's stop talking about that here, this is not the right place to discuss that.

You mentioned that I've used some foul language, yet that comes from someone can't spell "convenient":

If you point out my mistakes, then I'll do the same to you - there's nothing odd here.
Go and (try to) humiliate Turkish somewhere else - this is not the place where you can do it (directly or indirectly, you literally said "Haha, you guys don't even have your own browser/OS and you dare to dislike others' stuff!").

I know you don't read the topics/posts of Vista forum, but:

"Managing" and "planning" are two separate things. In this context, he haven't managed to add 8/10 functions (yet), so rather let me know when he has managed to do it.

Indeed you're right, why use the "evil imperialistic" Chrome that "can go and **** itself", when you have the wonderful and conveneint Turkish browser and Turkish OS.

So no need to wait for the Chinese to make Win-7 compatible Chrome forks.

You don't seem to get why I said that, I don't care about the country where it comes. I download from Russian sites a lot (should have I said that? ) I said it because they are removing Manifest V2 support and MV3 makes ad blockers less functional than before. Even I got no extensions working on first page open (YT Music), you have to reload the page in order to get extensions working. Chromium works better than FF, but we shouldn't let one browser (engine) to take over all the Web. So use Firefox at least few times just to increase the market share.

Anyway, hopefully I won't have to install Linux to a second partition (just to browse the web) if I get a job and save for my next PC. Just going to put a LTS(C) version of Windows 10 and call it a day.

So it's official and happened even earlier, starting on the 5th of November 2022 - no more Chrome for Windows 7. Thanks, , going to celebrate.

Also don't forget to mourn for no more Chrome for Windows Vista with Extended kernel - unless Win32 manages to run the W10 versions of it.

Also don't be happy that early - eventually a Chinese fork (just like 360chrome) will allow us to get newer Chrome versions running on Windows 7 - which I don't care since it's going to drop Manifest v2 support in 2024 (can go and ---- itself with it) and I'm currently on Firefox (using Slimjet only for things like Discord and YT Music).

@SC7601! I have to correct my statement. You are right! ssupercool2.gif I have retested uBlock Origin 1.44.4 in Mypal 68 and can confirm your observation. Setting the variable dom.moduleScripts.enabled to false breaks the most recent version of uBlock Origin 1.44.4 in Mypal 68.12.5b. This setting was helpful in getting the new interface of VirusTotal to work in previous versions of Mypal 68. But in the latest version Mypal 68.12.5b, it has no  positive effect anymore and has become useless. Therefore, I recommend to set the varaiable dom.moduleScripts.enabled back to its default value of true.

    Kind regards, AstroSkipper matrix.gif

Glad to help. I also want to say that ShadowFox works on this browser. It is a must for me since dark theme doesn't work browser-wide. You must download Windows x32 version and place it in Application Data\Mypal68. To install, run it, select your profile folder (go to about:profiles to find out if there's more than one), press TAB to select the other options, and finally select Install. After the installation, you can delete the executable file. But you may want to backup your userChrome.css if you have applied custom modifications as explained in this thread, since it replaces it too.

You're welcome! OT: BTW, what about your offer weeks ago? question.gif

I simply didn't have a use for it :angel Currently I use the browsers which works without needing the functionality of TLS 1.3 proxy. I have a second WinXP install though, without TLS 1.2 updates. I wanted to try it in that install, but I had to download it from this installation because I didn't want to mess with configuring some browser! (laziness shows up :D) And, I don't want to boot it up anymore as the reason of installation was I couldn't boot up this one after I've installed Linux (I just had to edit boot.ini, but I found it out later).

uBlock Origin is my favourite ad blocker extension. Unfortunately, there is a real problem with its compatibility, Therefore, I can't use the more recent ones in Mypal 68 on my old system. I'll post about these problems very soon.

I think I know the reason: the setting you shared (dom.moduleScripts.enabled false) breaks uBlock Origin. It also crashes the browser eventually (I think it's because of uBO as well).
Without that setting set to false, I can use uBlock Origin without any problems (But the version is 1.42.4, while it's 1.44.4 in my main PC's browser Firefox 105).

Addition: Oh wait, it's because Mypal doesn't support auto-updating of extensions and I installed it before the update. If I reinstall it, then it should work fine too.

The extension Simple Translate is easy to use and works perfectly. Of course, I know the extension ImTranslator as well. I use it in the New Moon 28. The quality of the translations is better in Simple Translate, though, and ImTranslator is much too bloated for my taste. Basically, ImTranslator is an interesting extension for translating and offers many features. Anyway, to each their own! I recommend Simple Translatessupercool2.gif
    https://msfn.org/board/topic/183657-mypal-68-in-windows-xp-custom-buttons-and-extensions/?do=findComment&comment=1225646

Does it have an In-Line Translator though? It's the only feature I'd use (apart from full page translate). (Oh wait I should be able to check it, right? :P)

  6. Thanks for the performance tweaks and SuperStop button, I'm looking forward to apply these when I get to the XP machine.
For the extensions, I think uBlock Origin is a better solution (low resource usage) on low end machines.
And this is the translator extension I use:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/imtranslator/
It has some features like Inline translator, which will translate the selected text and put it next to the original.

Inline Translator in action (On my main PC & Firefox 105 though):

Edit: Hmm, I've found something about Adblocker Ultimate:

  7. I was using Psiphon on Windows XP when I need to bypass login page on some WiFi I found. Their website says it's not supported since December 2019, but you can try to use it:

    (Warning: DIRECT LINK) https://psiphon.s3.amazonaws.com/legacy/psiphon3-legacy.exe

For Chromium 80>: If you get 360 Extreme Explorer which is available at this forum, you can download VPN extensions. The one that works without an account is called "Just vpn": https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/just-vpn/apmomfapnjopaiiidbockbmbkklcfgni

Another option is to use Tor (Download the latest version available for XP, and you can use its proxy settings on other browsers).

OT: I can't see AstroSkipper's custom emoticons, because PostImg is blocked here. Doesn't that suck?

  8. Hey come on "guys (since we know all of you are :D)"! I didn't do it to start a gender argument here, I just thought of it because his name's being used for females here (believe or not).
Maybe gender info can be put under the avatar like some forums did. And when someone chose not to specify it, we can just call them "they".

Hello @SC7601! That's correct! I would be very pleased if I got feedback from users who can test my program package in a real installation (no VM) of Windows XP on a period-correct hardware. BTW, my Windows XP computer is equipped with a Pentium 4 2.8 GHz Northwood single core CPU and only 1.5 GB SD-RAM. No SSD, no SATA but IDE hard disks, and the graphic card is NVIDIA 6200 AGP 4x. You see, we both are running Windows XP on a Pentium 4. You do not need to use old Chrome browsers. In the MSFN forum, we have a lot of browsers compatible with Windows XP and quite recent to surf the web nowadays. Here is the link to the post of my program package:

And here is the link to the forum with topics referring to browsers in Windows XP:

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me!

    Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper ecrire-ordi.gif

Isn't that for allowing TLS 1.3 on system-wide? AFAIK 360Chrome and Firefox (at least Mypal 68) supports it, so I thought of using a browser which is incapable of it. In the end Chrome 49 came up on my mind, but if you know the one that is "compatible with most sites but doesn't support TLS 1.3", let me know.

By the way, my XP-system has an Intel Pentium 4 3.06 GHz "Prescott", 1.5 GB of DDR2 RAM and an ATI Radeon 9200SE.

    OT :P

This must have set you back a small fortune, hasn't it? High-End H/W is constantly on the rise here price-wise, due to
    1. shortage of rare-earth metals (and other semiconductors) used inside electronics chips

    2. exorbitant rises :realmad: in energy costs (natural gas, electricity, petrol, etc.) - in part due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict - which is reflected in elevated production/transportation costs :( ...

A laptop of those specs can easily cost something near (or above) the neighbourhood of 1,000 Euros here, when the average (monthly) salary is considerably below that :( ... Take good care of your high-performance laptop, then... :)

To be able to buy it, I'd have to work for 5-6 months without spending my money. Repeating, I cannot spend it, otherwise I wouldn't be able to collect the required amount. He (or she, I think Mina looks like a female name & nice 7601 addition (Windows 7 SP1 build number) by the way! But I had it first :P) must take care of it well.
By the way @AstroSkipper, if I didn't understand wrong, do you need a tester with a period-correct hardware? (for testing hardware load) Because I have that and would be able to test (if old Chrome still is able to render web sites properly though... :dubbio:) I have a Pentium 4 though, and it even has SSE3 (but cannot say it's too powerful though... at the end it's Pentium 4 :D)

On new hardware, old OSes are nonsense. Old OSes can't really handle new hardware which they are not developed for. That's the truth! Here in this forum are a lot of people trying to install Windows XP, or much worse, Windows 98,  on a brand new machine. Nonsense, unfortunately!

Why you have to be so correct? That's right folks, get PERIOD-CORRECT hardware if you want to use an old OS without having any hassle! Can't install XP on Z790? Because it wasn't meant to do that! And even if you were able to do so, you'll never be able to reach the full power of your hardware, which means you'll be wasting it. I actually hate to waste my devices, I must be able to use them by utilizing their full potential. Although living with a poor family & being broke led me to do that, I'm thinking to continue to do the same even if I get better economically.

Pentium 3? 98/2000/ME (if you know what you're doing ).
    Pentium 4? 2000/XP.
    Core 2 Duo? XP/Vista/7.
Core 2 Quad? Vista/7. (I do find quad core on XP overkill)
Core i Series? Go with 7 all the way up until you reach to the point where you can't install it.
Because there will be the moment when Windows 7 will be unable to fully utilize the hardware and you'll be forced to install a newer Windows.

  11. It's great and everything working as it should be. Old games running without a requirement of "feature install", DX hook graphic mods are compatible unlike the newer versions, no high HDD usage, no excessive RAM/CPU usage, no "application recommendations" on Start menu, no inconsistent context menu design, no telemetry tweaks required, no "TPM & 8th gen CPU" requirement, no internet connection & MS Account required to set it up, no forced updates, no "This PC" (why, isn't that My PC?), no useless & slow UWP applications as Windows Photo Viewer, Windows Movie Player & Calculator replacements, No OneDrive which runs in background by default, no forcibly enabled & CPU hungry Windows Defender, no ugly flat icons, has REAL Classic Style unlike Win 8's "Aero Basic recolor", no lockscreen as if it's either a phone or a tablet, no ugly & crowded Ribbon UI on Explorer, no ugly flat color Windows icon, no requirement of using two different apps for settings, no annoying sound effects, disable UAC easier, has a Start menu which is simple and useful, doesn't remove personal files after applying updates, doesn't annoy you when installing another browser, going to recovery and other start options just requires to press F8 before boot process, much stable, no bloatware/having two different applications for one purpose, Installing language packs offline is much easier, you can access Sound Enhancements faster, doesn't "require" SSD for smooth usage, has AGP support, last Windows to support 32-bit only processors, still able to run modern browsers (Even MS had to support it through their Edge), installing .NET Framework 3.5.1 doesn't require Windows install media because it's enabled by default, Half-Life 1.1.1.0 works better than it does in XP, handling of larger image files in native programs is better than how it was in XP, although it was based on Vista it was optimized greatly so it runs better on the same old hardware, more customizable than the newer releases, Wi-Fi network menu doesn't cover a whole lot of right edge of the screen, Task Manager is much smaller than its newer counterpart while fully expanded & no collapsed view by default, and yeah, that's my experience of Windows 7 when compared to other versions of Windows.

  12. FTFY: Should I upgrade to Windows 7*

If you want to use a true desktop Windows rather than an OS with design inconsistencies (anything after 7), that's the way to go.

I have a very pleasant experience with Windows 7, by the way.

PS: Can you use the caps please? It doesn't look good that way.
