Unattended Installation of x64 Edition
Pyr0 replied to goldfinger's topic in Windows XP 64 Bit Edition
it's the raid drivers that i need -
and this doesn't work? right?
-
nice 1 jbm, are you putting the drivers into the amd64 folder or the i386, and are you packing them?
-
Hi Dr!ll, how's it goin' mate have you seen this guide? http://www.collosumus.net/amd64/addhw_1.html or http://www.windowsserverx64.com/technical_...ardware/56.aspx it's still only using f***ing promise drivers as an example tho. EVERY guide i find always uses either silicon or promise drivers
-
could somebody please write instructions for the nvidia raid integration? i've been trying but i think i'm just crap
-
i tried the guide to put 5048 on vmware5 5048 copies files to my vmware5 disk, reboots, starts the setup, and then completely freezes after about 10 mins at the part where you can alt-tab and launch taskmanager. any ideas?

well it works fine for me, i quite like the extra speed
-
i've seen a couple of posts saying that they managed to slipstream nforce3 drivers into x64, since these are basically the same drivers, there must be a way
-
somebody must've been able to slipstrean the 64bit nforce4 drivers into the xp64 cd by now surely?? i've tried and tried but i just can't figure it out
-
try the drivers from: http://www.short-media.com/download.php
-
i just tried to view that article, but the page says 404 not found

windows x64 works great if you have the correct 64bit drivers. some sites i've seen say that there are a lot of probs, but i haven't had any major probs at all. i honestly think that my games run smoother and load quicker too, and adobe cs2 is nippy on 64bit, as are a lot of apps. of course some software is incompatible, but it's the same whenever a new os is released. there are usually workarounds or another program released with similar features you could test the 64bit edition yourself before making a complete move. just create yourself another partition, or buy a secondary hard drive, and dual boot. you can have the best of both worlds

the current registry tweakers/cleaners are not programmed or configured for the windows x64 registry hive it's not exactly a tweaking prog or a cleaner, but you can monitor which registry keys are being accessed using a program called Regmon FOR AMD Download Regmon (XP/Server 2003 64-bit Edition/x64 - 100 KB) http://www.sysinternals.com/Files/regmonamd64.zip FOR INTEL Download Regmon (XP 64-bit Edition/IA64 -116 KB) http://www.sysinternals.com/files/regmon64.zip

Unattended Installation of x64 Edition
Pyr0 replied to goldfinger's topic in Windows XP 64 Bit Edition
nevermind use MSN why not share the knowledge with all of us? -
i already pointed out that his memory isn't on the compatible list
-
where can I download the trail version of XP 64?
Pyr0 replied to SoftZip.com's topic in Windows XP 64 Bit Edition
the trial version won't be available to download for a while yet, microsoft are struggling a bit to meet the demand for x64 -
avast is working ok, and as a bonus, it's free
-
you can use Squeez 5.0b3 x64 as a replacement for winrar, or you could use a 32bit file manager like directory opus, and that will enable you to use the winrar right click context menus
-
if you have two networked computers you could run xp32 on one and xp64 on the other. use daemon tools on the xp32 pc to mount the images, and share the drive over the network sorted - disk images in xp64 with protection emulation too (filedisk does not emulate ANY protection methods) edit: or you could just wait for daemon tools 4
-
"everything" seems a bit nippier on x64 than xp32

Ahhh an intel chip, i don't really know much about pentium systems. the was a guy on planetamd64 who was having similar problems(no cpu errors), i just pm'd him, asking if he'd managed to sort it out, and this was the response i got: and someone else said swapping motherboards worked, but these are AMD systems, and so i don't know how much relevance they would have. there are posts saying it's related to video/graphics cards. it could even be your sata drivers can you try an ide drive? have you tried swapping memory slots? have you checked your voltages? probably a stupid question, but have you plugged in the little square 4pin power connector by the cpu/backplate? also on the asus website, i can't see your memory in the list of compatible sticks. there does seem to be a few people with these problems on AMD and Intel systems you could do with being able to swap componenets out(graphics card, memory, psu, etc.) if you could do this you could eliminate each component separately. i'd begin to wonder if it was a hardware problem/compatibility(possibly motherboard cpu or memory, but since you said you tested the memory) maybe start sending emails to support at asus, intel and microsoft
