  1. Hello Folks, Ok, it is all over for xpsp3. It's a freaking miracle that I got this far on xpsp3. When I built my desktop I tried to future proof it the best I knew. MS utility says it will run win7 sp1 professional - which I have here as original OEM from MS. What do you do for an email client and any chance of saving vast email and addresses from Outlook Express. Will be saying goodbye to professional double sided printer from HP and a great flat bed scanner. Also saying good bye to a s*** ton of programs and games. Backups have been made of most things data. Have new 1tb Western digital black and have 8 gb ddr2 that will work. The big question, is there a way to fresh install win 7 in an XP emulation mode, or have access to an emulation mode. I'm trying to save what I can data and program wise. I am not a luddite - it's just that ME, Vista, 8 and 10 just don't get it for me. I guess eventually something in Linux will have to do. Ages ago I used to run Berkeley Unix on a Silicon Graphics for Wavefront. But I am older now and have forgotten much. If there is anyone out there that can shed light on any aspect of this you will have my eternal gratitude. Thank you so much in advance!!! A guy named Mac
  2. I keep getting notices from Oracle to update my java. But when I attempt to do so it always fails. I know that by August it is probably game over for XP sp3. But I thought I would ask anyway. Thanks very much in advance!
  3. Hi Dave-H I followed all of the proper steps in the proper order from Mixit's post on page 1 for manual installation. To include the modifications to the FF profiles and line by line modifications to the about:config files. Oh and getting the three archived files to insert into folder 17. I thought this whole exercise was to do a manual install for those of us who missed the time window for the automatic install from Adobe. Cheers, Mac
  4. Thanks LoneCrusader! Ok based on what you said here is what I did. First I went to about:config and looked for media.gmp-manager.url and CHANGED TO: ( Change %VERSION% after GMP to: 51.0 ) https://aus5.mozilla.org/update/3/GMP/51.0/%BUILD_ID%/%BUILD_TARGET%/%LOCALE%/%CHANNEL%/%OS_VERSION%/%DISTRIBUTION%/%DISTRIBUTION_VERSION%/update.xml. No joy, primetime content still says it will installed shortly. Then from another thread from user Krzy I added media.mp4.enabled=true to about:config. Nope, same - same. Still no H.264 and MSE & H.264 I feel that at this time I'm just digging a deeper hole. Help, anyone out there have additional insights? Thanks in advance. Mac
  5. Thanks Mixit!! You have given me some hope here!! Any help would be sincerely appreciated. But after two days of checking and double checking here's what I've got. I am running XP sp3 on a home built desktop PC. Using FF 52.2.1 esr channel. Curiously this problem only cropped up in the last couple of weeks. I can play some youtube videos using flash just fine. Other say, "Your browser does not currently recognize any of the video formats available." No video from facebook, BBC and livestreams. I have tried to adhere to your instructions as closely as possible. But the condition is unchanged from before I implemented the changes you suggested to the present. With this important exception, Primetime Content Decryption Module Provided by Adobe Systems, Inc. is being displayed in the plugins WITH the following Primetime Content Decryption Module Provided by Adobe Systems - will be installed shortly! And that is as far as it goes, I can't make this bear dance. Thanks, Mac
