Thanks MDJ, but I think your solution goes beyond my knowledge & experience :-(

DWORD is set to 1. Switching between 1 & 0 doesn't affect the details pane position. No other occurences of the program in the registry.

The program works, but unfortunately the details pane is still at the right, not on the bottom :-(

Same here: Windows 10 + AnniversaryUpdate, OldNewExplorer 1.1.8.2. Have uninstalled, rebooted, removed some registry items related tot OldNewExplorer, installed version 1.1.8.2, but to no avail for the part of getting the details pane below instead of on the right side :-(
