  1. In order to resolve the BBC problem of non-playing programmes with Firefox on XP since the beginning of November the following statement must be added to about:config : general.useragent.override , and make the value: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 7.0; rv:53.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/73.0 Thus implemented and Firefox restarted will effectively remove the 'ban' on all broadcasts on all programmes on BBC i-player enjoy
  2. Many months ago I modified my Firefox 52.9.0 running in XP SP3 according to the brilliant instructions given in the first few postings of this thread and got satisfactory results on BBC, ORF and YouTube and other sites. Since end of January however some programmes on the BBC refuse to play, saying that my browser needs updating. I tested my Firefox on these sites: https://tekeye.uk/html/html5-video-test-page http://www.bbc.co.uk/html5 http://web.archive.org/web/20190805082454/https://www.youtube.com/html5 All 8 samples on the tekeye site work aswell as the BBC one. On the archive link I get ticks in all 6 boxes. Theoretically all seems to be in good shape, but then why do some BBC programmes not play? It looks as if my firefox were giving out version information and as a result not being given the desired programme.
  3. @dido_fan: Did you carefully carry out the configuration of your Mozzilla as detailed at the beginning of this thread? It works fine for me with the same Windoze and approximately the same machine.
  4. That appeared on my comp last night as well. Just click o.k and continue watching. I was watching ORF TVthek while it happened. No effect on speed or quality <IMHO>
  5. Thankyou very much for these precise and detailed instructions! Now tvthek.orf.at works and so do the clips on www.tumbler.com ;) I would like to add that one should FIRST carry out the instructions for the folder "17" and put the 3 files into it etc. BEFORE doing the steps in "about:config" - or you will end up going through and checking the "about:config" items, three of which will have mysteriously disappeared! But on all accounts DO go through the "about:config" values, easily verified by entering "gmp.eme" into the "search" bar just under the top. If one is missing, just add it again! You might find a boolean one that has gone from "true" to "false" If you find a red triangle above the in the list of plugins above the "Primetime Content ........." but all is properly done, just wait 5 minutes. Perfect solution - just work meticulously ;) ;) I´m very happy ;)
