  1. here you go and i will look into the toolkit as i use it from time to time and i know other will too. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Awesome, thanks! Sure does make it easier for me.
  2. You're right, it's not worth it. I'll just keep a copy of the exe or extract the icon. The only reason I like it is because the Nero Burning Rom icon looks terrible pinned to the start menu. I'm not worried about the nero toolkit either, but I think the reason it isn't working is because Nero ASPI isn't installed properly. I'm just glad nero is stripped down the the bare roots. Thanks heap!
  3. Awesome file thanks. How about a link to the first page of this thread at the top of the file so it's easy to check for updates. I've added one to my file
  4. Thanks for updating the tweaks. Would it be possible to include better instructions for the Visual Effects Settings? When I first made my unattended cd I spent hours trying to get the visual effects to work (as have many others). The tweaks in the original file (and now the latest updated file) don't work for me and others. In the post where I originally brought up the issue I attached a file which describes the only way I was able to get the settings to work and I think my instructions are pretty clear. Should be pretty easy to copy and paste the instructions. I also think a general note that some tweaks will need to be applied at the T-12 stage and to refer to unattended.msfn.org for more info would be useful.
  5. No was not you - was me! there was an error in the syntax for the winrar extraction command - now fixed... download again pls and test. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Works for me too now! Excellent, thanks. Just did tests with 1.2.4 and all the icons installed fine and smartstart worked correctly. tested with both 7-zip and winrar created versions. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I just did tests with 1.2.4 now. I created the archive with all options on. I am doing these tests on my current system (uninstalling and reinstalling), rather than on a fresh install so this may be hampering results? I am finding that CDSpeed.exe and DriveSpeed.exe return the error "No CD-ROM drives found." InfoTool works fine although some of the information is different to the 'real' install. In particular, InfoiTool reports that the Nero ASPI driver is not installed (WNASPI32.DLL). I tested the shortcut creation for Nero Toolkit. The script doesn't seem to be able to create these shortcuts unless the 'Nero Toolkit' directory is made prior to the script running. SmartStart returns the error "Some files ar emissing, please reinstall Nero." Also, after searching through post_config.cmd, I could not find anything about Nero StartSmart.
  6. Another things, the two options I selected were Nero StartSmart (because I like the icon more than the Burning Rom one) and Nero Toolkit. These installed, but they do not actually work. It doesn't worry me because I'll just remove them from the package, but I thought you might like to know. Also, the icons for these two StartSmart and Toolkit did not install.
  7. The rarPath is correct. Any other ideas? I had quite a good search through the script and couldn't find anything wrong. It's probably just me doing something stupid so don't worry about it.
  8. Filename is as original. Program runs, lots of stuff flashes by incredibly fast and then first thing I can read is 'Now Creating_Nero Installer using winRAR'. nerotmp folder is created. Then nerotmp folder disappears and the program closes. I am using winRAR. It says "File Not Found" just after "Building Custom Installation". I just installed 7-zip and it works perfectly with that. Strange about winRAR. Thanks for the program, it's great.
  9. I think the How To section of the manual should be before the Explanations section. The guide is otherwise great. You could stick a bit in saying that the program creates a silent self extracting archive which is then called from unattended installation eg RunOnceEx. Also, I couldn't find any of the information from Post 1 of this thread in the manual (ie the bit about where to put files and file name requirements) I'm having trouble getting MakeIt to work. Nero extracts and then MakeIt just closes and the extracted nero gets deleted. There is no SFX file anywhere to be seen.
  10. Is it possible to disable, by regtweak or other means, the cascading of Administrative Tools in the start menu? This is the only start menu item I have that is still cascading and **** I hate it. Thanks
  11. This: ;Disable Security Center [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wscsvc] "Start"=dword:00000004 from the regtweaks in the first post seems to help me. Check out the regtweaks in the first post.
  12. Dr. Watson annoys me, so I have Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;Disable Dr. Watson Debugger [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug] Is that a bad idea? Also, I finally got the Visual Effects working after many hours of trying. I know a lot of other people were having problems with this too. I think its partly because the tweak in the master reg file is incomplete or at least not grouped properly. Would it be possible to update the master tweak file with better instructions? I have attached my reg file with instructions so it should make things a bit simpler and hopefully fail-safe. I think it will save some people a lot of time. Thess threads (smc1979's program to get VisualEffects tweaks to work) and (AriesSyntax's explanation of the different keys) were particularly useful. VisualFX.txt
  13. I don't know about quicklaunch, but the other one, number two: The background folders disappear when you set up visual effects, I think that's because you have disabled "Use a background image for each folder type" in the Visual Effects settings
  14. @ prathapml I noticed in here you've told quite a few people to run the quicklaunch tweak at the T-12 minutes stage but you didn't specify to run it in a separate .reg file. I don't know if its important or not, but you said it should be done it in that big post you made about it. It's pretty easy as a new unattender to think you're running something at T-12 stage through cmdlines.txt, when in actual fact its only registering in runOnceEx at the T-12 stage and not running at all, so please keep that in mind. And on to my question(s). Is there any problem with running all regtweaks at the T-12 stage? Eg HKLM reg tweaks? Or should I only run HKCU tweaks at T-12? Thanks for the fantastic guide and forums!
  15. I had the same problem as you and initially I was trying to go about it the same way as you, anyway think i I found the 'right' way to do it. The problem is most likely due to the fact that you have an incomplete theme file. I was using the default windows theme, but wanted the silver/metallic look. So I saved the theme file and linked to that but had the same problem as you. Firstly, you're linking to the wrong file. In your winnt.sif you have: CustomDefaultThemeFile = "%WinDir%\Resources\Themes\Storm\Storm.msstyles" This line should actually be pointing to a .theme file (which is a txt file) eg CustomDefaultThemeFile = "%WinDir%\Resources\Themes\Storm.theme" If there is already a .theme file there you should be sweet (unless you want a different colour scheme). If you can't find a theme file, set up your theme as you want it and go to 'Display Properties' -> 'Themes' tab and save your current theme (as Storm.themes for example). Link to that in winnt.sif, and then you'll have to do a bit of editing of the .theme file. You'll need to make it look kind of like the Luna.theme file already in the win\resources\themes dir. This way you won't have to do any registry edits. Pretty poorly explained, but i'm trying to save myself effort in case you already have a .theme file. Anyway, let me know if that helps. On a similar note, you can also set up all your sound configurations with a theme so you don't need to do those registry hacks I saw laying around somewhere. Just set up your sounds as you want them and save your theme file.
