Hi all, i've just bought an A-bit va-10 mainboard took all the proper precautions but when i switch it on, theres nothing there i have tried 2 different psu's a 300W & a 500W still nothing. Tried to get it to boot with just the gfx card and ram but still nothing. The reason why i bought this mobo is because my sons original system would boot up then shutdown as it got to the windows bootscreen. Im starting to think its a bad cpu i don't think its the ram because i tried the a-bit with nothing on except the cpu *all the power cables are properly seated and connected. Anyone got any ideas?. Amd duron 1200MHz A-bit va10 Ati 9600 atlantis Any help would be much appreciated.

thanks for the update , its working for me now steam cab file is now at 767kb EDIT: this still wont compress adaware properly for me its been going now for the last 5 minutes or so...i've had to quit it just hangs

No it makes no difference the steam install in a folder on its own but it still does exactly the same thing. maybe someone could try it, it'd be great if i'm wrong so i can do it right these plug in creators are an excellent idea!. Edit: forgot to mention the created cab files go into their own folder ready for integration.

cant overclock the cpu or the gpu and which test, do you mean prime 95?

i have a k8nf4g mobo the thing is though in the manual and on the box it says that it has 128mb onbaord gfx but in the nvidia settings it is saying 256mb so which is it any ideas?.

I tried the modded bios but i get error 3 file not found or some such thing, maybe i need to try a different rewriteable cd or something as i have no floppy drive.

lol, i was looking at that pen technique for the extra voltage, but 20 quid! for a pen i have to come up with another way maybe. also do you think it would work if i flash my bios from p1.70 to a modded bios, im really curious but this i downloaded it from overclockers.com but havn't plucked up the courage to try it.

because i use the audigy 2 (also has no midi port) for sound which has a much lower latency than a soundblaster 5.1 because it can use asio drivers. and this motherboard has no midi/game port which i need.

i will read further also half life 2 substance runs great too but that conductive pen job sounds very very interesting.

great link thanks for that. i have just been reading i think on about page 3 approx. Where they're discussing the onboard gfx and it got me thinking to try hl2 again when i loaded it up everything was set to high, so i set all gfx settings to low and to cut a long story short worked my way through the settings. i am now playing hl2 again but on all high settings albeit with an 800x600 resolution but wow! this motherboard never fails to amaze me. theres also no stuttering anymore and i get an average fps of about 40 which makes this game very playable indeed, now.....wheres my far cry dvd thanks again matey its very much appreciated

well it was a bundle off ebay which worked out cheaper, overclocking hadn't even entered my mind until i got this board who knows next time i might look into it more.

wow!, i always thought onboard gfx was a bit limiting but i learn something new everyday, i have decided to get a Sapphire Radeon X850 XT 256M GDDR3 PCI-E VGA which will hopefully do a good job fingers x'ed as its getting harder and harder to justify the cost of all this to my wife. pci-e vga card
