Hey all ... My question is directly related to this thread here: ArsTechnica - Why the hell Unattended parameter wasn't applied on installation ?? Because of this problem (see the links to various forums, where I posted about it): ArsTechnica - System file cache is almost empty all the time, probably caused by messing *something*, when I was trying to solve this problem: ArsTechnica - Windows Activation process is closed after execution, Winforums - Windows Activation process closed after execution, MSFN - Windows Activation process closed after execution, I am planning to re-install my current Windows installation. And before I do it, I would really like to know, what is the correct complete syntax of the Winnt.sif file, if all I want it to do is set the default "Documents and Settings" directory to be something else (I just don't like more than 8 chars long file-names, but I especially do not like spaces in them), like "Settings" for instance. I know, it should contain this line below, but which ones are missing (and should be there), which headers are required, etc. ?? Oh well, finally I've discovered what was wrong !! See the screenshot here: As you can see it was that option I checked in the xp-Antispy program (the screenshot above), which is somehow related to licdll.dll and disabling WPA. I also did that previously (previous Windows XP installations), but there were no WPA method/procedure bundled into previous Windows XP package. Luckily the 30-day period is still pending. shirker

Hey all !! This thread is about msoobe.exe process, started with this /A commandline switch: D:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\OOBE\msoobe.exe /A 1. This started occuring soon after installing fresh Windows XP Pro SP1, and that's about it. First few boots, I got that blue window, reminding me to activate the copy of Windows, but then it just stoped poping-up, so I first thought, it is because I do not use Explorer as Windows shell (but Blackbox for Windows), but then I discovered that it's the same with Explorer running as OS's shell.
