  1. still waiting for some kind of reply..
  2. Hi, Just wanted to tell you that there might be an error with the "Remove xpize source.exe" files which is left behind when you choose to uninstall xpize 4.1 MCE. It won't uninstall or remove itself after the required restart, and must therefore be removed manually. But the problem is that it also adds a couple of fields in the registry, under "PendingFileRenameOperations". That last one causes problems for MSI installers (not sure if this is case with all MSI installers) which checks to see if "PendingFileRenameOperations" exists. In order to get the installers to work again you would have to go into regedit and remove the field by yourself, meaning that people with less technical skills won't be able to do it, and most probably: they even doon't know what's causing the error. Could this issue be fixed? Thanks! Best regards Kristoffer I'm running XPize 4.1 MCE Lite with everything installed exept bootscreen, screensaver and wallpaper. My OS is win xp home retail norwegian using sp1.
  3. Hi Guys! Is it possible to throw Notepad2 right into the i386 directory without any kind of tweaking, or will the OS start complaining if I do so? Also, I have downloaded the MPC from sourceforge as I think that one is much bettet than anything else I've seen so far. Can that one be thrown into the i386 directory too? Sorry for my newbie questions!
  4. Lol... very gooderik_demon. Now, only thing I need is a tutorial on how to do this thing.
  5. Okey Guys! This might sound like one crazy idea, but I came to think about just now, and I haven't thought long about it, but I'll throw it out in the air anyway! I have been using nLite lately in order to get the perfect OS (not that it's really possible ), and have therefore also been using unnatended running of the CD so that I can just throw into the CD-ROM and then go take a nap while it install everythig as I like it to be. Now, in my house there is more than one computer, and I'm thinking of using this CD to install and setup everything on the computers without having to do it manually. Only prob with the CD is that it will make the same usernames, passwords etc for all the computers since they all install from same CD (meaning they will also all be using same windows key, which isn't good). Now, of course I can just edit the winnt.sif file making x different copies of it with x different winnt.sif containing x different usernames, passwords bla bla bla. But I find that a bit of an overkill (both to my DVD recorder and to my CD collection) My question os: Is there any way it's possible to use more than one WINNT.sif file for a CD. Thinking of somekind of DOS menu where you could choose which .sif file you want to use for that particular installation. That way I would save alot of CDs, as I just need to have all the .sif files placed on the CD (with different names). Now, I know that the .sif file on windows CD must be placed in the i386 directory, having tha name WINNT.sif or else it will fail. My question is anyway: Is it possible? Is there any way we can do this on? Or is it completely impossible? The word (or machine) is yours! Cheers!
  6. @Dumpy Dooby: That would be great if you where able to achieve that. I would love to check it out.
  7. Hi Guys! I have a question I've been wondering about for some time now. I've been using nLite and other stuff from this forums on my road to get the "perfect" (not possible with M$ ) OS. But I've found out (am I not clever ) that nLiting xp pro, slipstreaming it, integrating drivers, adding reg tweaks, making it unnatended, installing software using silent switches and DEBUGGING it takes a veeeeery long time to do. Specially when I know that I probably would need to update all this things every time before I need to do a formatting (correct written?) of my HDD (apps are often updates etc.) So, my question is: Isnt it much much better to install everything the usual way (which is manually for all of those who still have managed to escape from the addiction this forums can give you with all its "must have" things ) and then when everything is set up like I want it to be, then just make an image of the HDD using Norton Ghost 9, Paragon Drive Backup etc? I bet we would save pretty much time and energy on that? What do you guys think? Tell me your + and - with the two methods (image or silent install (custom OS)... Remember: don't read this literally. Its a question which I want to have your opnions on. And don't flame or anything like that. This is a serious topic, and I want serious answers! Cheers!
  8. Hi, I've used long time no on the net to search for answers on how to slipstream a Dell OEM CD, but none of the sites or program used was able to do it, due to errors etc. But, after removing following files, it (finally!) worked. Files to be removed from Dell OEM Windows XP Professional CD (with hotfixes and/or sp1 integrated). I386\SVCPACK I386\SVCPACK.INF ALL Qxxxxxx.EXE files (Hotfixes) SP1 CDs: I386\SP1.CAB I386\SP1.CAT I386\XPSP1RES.DL_ IMPORTANT! If you don't delete ALL hotfixes (see above) and also remove svcpack directory and svcpack.inf file, no kind of slipstream apps will function. All of them will complain about the CD allready having preconfigured programs in it. Thanks to this link for providing me with the necessary information (this took more than enough time ) http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/bo...&message.id=283 Cheers and good luck! PS: I used nLite to slipstream and everything (Thanks guys)
