  1. Yes it is missing the header

Now I found that this value is missing as well:

" HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\LDAP, the key that is listed may be missing or corrupt or may not contain the value: {228D9A81-C302-11cf-9AA4-00AA004A5691} "

What should I do to import this value to registry ?

He has not mentioned the procedure how to do that,,,,

See the attachment for the missing value

  2. I was trying to :

"If the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{080d0d78-f421-11d0-a36e-00c04fb950dc} key is missing or damaged, add the following lines to a text file, rename it with a .reg extension, and then import it to your registry".

I did what he suggested and I created a file and named it to Today.reg (see attachment),,,,,when I tried to export , it gave me this error message (see attachment).

    The link says:

"I have created these reg files in zip for easy download... see below"

But I could not find where are these files !!!

    Today.reg

  3. I have got windows 2000 advanced server , I created a user and when I tried to click on "member Of" tab, I received this error message:

    See the link please:

I found this link, but I did not play with it , because it is dealing with registry.

I have got problem with all users include administrator.I do not have active directory.

The accounts and groups are all local to my machine?

I tried the link below, it did not work

    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=263231

My PC not on a network. I do not have any active directory.

  4. Telnet Users group on the XP machine.
I do not have this group,,,do I need to create one ?
For XP > Server, you must run the "Telnet Server Administration", and set the NTLM to 1 or (better, in this case, for testing) 0.

    I did this.

What is the difference between the above and the one below ?

    Run->Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services applet

Find the "Telnet" service, right-click and select Properties, select "Automatic" instead of "Disabled" in the startup type box.

  5. I have this simple scenario :

Windows XP SP2 192.168.0.1 (no firewall) and win 2000 server 192.168.0.22 (no firewall) connected to each other by cross over cable they can ping each other with out any problem. Both of them have administrator account with password.

    First Case

    Telnet form XP- ->Server

I enabled Telnet session on server and I tried to telnet form XP to server, I received this message:

You are about to send your password information to remote computer in internet zone . This might not be safe. Do you want to send any way [y/n] ? ,,,, If I typed in yes, I received this message :

    “Connection to host lost”.

If I typed in : No, I received this message :

    Server allows NTLM authentication only

    Server has closed connection

    Connection to host lost .

    Second Case

    Telnet from Server- ->XP

I enabled Telnet session on XP and I tried to telnet form server to XP, I received this message:

You are about to send your password information to remote computer in internet zone . This might not be safe. Do you want to send any way [y/n] ? ,,,,If I typed in yes

I received this error message :

Access Denied : specified user is not a member of telnet clients group. Server Administrator, must add this user to the above group. Telnet session has closed the connection

If I type in No: I was able to access the XP!!!! : OR if I typed in:

telnet 192.168.0.1 and double click (not single click ),,,i.e. without waiting to see this message You are about to send your password information to remote computer in internet zone . This might not be safe. Do you want to send any way [y/n] ?,,,,,I was able to access the XP as well.

I tried this scenario at lab at work with more than one group (I configured 4 groups , each group of 2 PCs),,,some of them even with option No, it did not work!!!!!

  6. And I found this using google, so remember that google is your friend.

I had already tried this, before I posted my thread here, but it did not work.

By the way if you read the article above, it mentions the "internal local area connection in the Connections box" ,,,,,,,my case I have got two NICs one is wireless and another is wired.....Which should be the fisrt in the list ?

  7. I have got windows 2000 Advanced server on my laptop (Name: nicedell) and windows XP Pro with SP2 on Desktop (Name: P4).

The PCs can ping each other without any problem. Both PCs belong same group.

When I click “View workgroup computers” on the Desktop, I can see only P4 (OS XP) , I can not see nicedell (W2K server).

When I click “View workgroup computers” on the laptop, I can see only P4 (OS XP) , I can not see nicedell (W2K server).

  8. At work when I checked ipconfig /all (I have got win2000 server)

I found that my address (say it is196.230.165.185 )

I issued the command : “nslookup 196.230.165.185” ,,,the result was :

    Server: srvgcc04.bb.workshop.ac.uk

    Address: 196.230.167.208

    Name : ccitipprasadc.bb.workshop.ac.uk

    Address: 196.230.165.185

bb.workshop.ac.uk is our domain at work (fake one).

prasadc this the username for one of colleague at work,,, Why am I getting this on my PC ?

I went to my colleague that I am getting his username, and I asked him to check his PC (XP Pro), when he checked his PC he found these information:

Server: srvgcc04.bb.workshop.ac.uk------same mine, this is obvious

    Address: 196.230.167.208

Name : ccitipiwzaki.bb.workshop.ac.uk-----here it is different form mine

    Address: 196.230.165.186

iwzaki another different username belong to another colleague!!!

  9. Directory rename will rename the other one

1- I have got folder called Favorite, on partition D (D:\Foverite) , and I have another folder called Archive on partition D as well (D:\Archive).

2- Inside the Archive folder I have got another folder called Favorite (D:\Archive\Favorite).

3- When I try to rename (D:\Archive\Favorite) to (D:\Archive\LaptopFavorite), the one which is on (D:\Foverite) changes to LaptopFoverite as well (from D:\Favorite to (D:\LaptopFavorite

    Where is the problem ?

    OS XP Professional with SP2
