  1. I have to agree with csbarracuda, not a good idea to disable the main Administrator account. The password for the administrator account is intially set during the installation of the operating system when it prompts the installer to choose an administrator password, but as csbarracuda says you can just right click on the account and a drop down menu will appear allowing you to choose to set a new password.
  2. Hi el_diablo4303, When you install XP normally it silently creates a user account called "administrator" if you are using the default welcome screen the administrator account will not show up unless you hit ctrl-alt-del twice. Open control panel and select "administrative tools>computer management>local users and groups" to see all user accounts on your machine. Hope this is some help
  3. wullieb1, sounds like you have the answer, like you said "It may be holding the network connection open which will stop your pc going to powersave" . My network adaptor is set by default to "os controlled" under the WOL settings but if i change that to "disable" the PC can then enter powersave even after backing up(yes i know this is a fix in itself). What is a Mall Script? will this close the network connection? please tell me more. Yes the backup finishes without error according to the log. enuffsaid, I like to be able to just walk away and let the PC go to sleep on its own, that way when i find i have forgotten somthing ten minutes later i just have to raise the PC from standby not restart it .... fussy huh? but i like it that way and it so nearly works too except for this one application. Many thanks to you both for replying
  4. Hi all at MSFN, Over several years i have used a couple of file copy programs (Second copy & ViceVersa) to backup files to other machines on my domain. My issue is, that once one of these programs has run it causes the machine it is run on to fail to go into any powersave mode (a reboot fixes the problem until next time the backup app is run). Can anyone here please give me some advise on this? TIA..
  5. Hello all at MSFN, I am working creating a RIS installation for my home computers complete with drivers and as many of my required programs as possible (yes I do a lot of installs ). Your site has been an invaluable resource and i would like to thank everyone involved for sharing their knowledge Thanks, Adrian..
