On the above part your have the real Aero Blur of Big muscle, below your have the tool Opaque taskbar doing the job. Take the same wallpaper and compare how the taskbar will react on Win7, you will see that Opaque Taskbar is very far to be close. If we really want something similar as WIn7, the taskbar transparency muss be the same as used in the Windows.

Definitivaly agree, Bigmuscle should count how many hours he has worked on that. This must has a price. Will there be one day hope to have one license for multiple computers ?

Use Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization\Color and Appearance OR Edit the theme file or msstyles file. OR Install StartIsBack and use the custom color feature, which will make Taskbar and Start Menu have a different color than windows theme. Seems to me you can get it pretty close to what an older system used to look like through tweaking of the Color Intensity, etc. in Windows and also the various parameters in the registry that Big Muscle provides support for... What about it, specifically, do you find troublesome to look at? Keep in mind the implementation of the theme may have more to do with the differences you're sensing than the actual blur. Could you be missing the border, or maybe the different, more "glossy" style on buttons, etc? Of course I don't know what your Win 8 system used to look like. Examples: Windows 7 standard Aero Glass theme: Windows 8.1 with Aero Glass for Win 8.1 with similar color choices to the above: -Noel From the office it is really difficult to explain but i will try to explain the two things which are not similar to Win7. Try the following, take chrome, open as many tabs as you can and place chrome Maximised. Then add one or two application also in Maximised window, compare Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 Aero Blur. You will see to much the tabs of Chrome in the other maximised Windows. Now there is maybe some tweaking i did not but until now i have lot of possibilities on the AeroGlassConfigurator Below i have a screenshot, you see the difference between blur of Bigmuscle and any other used tool. The one of Bigmuscle is getting closer to Win7 than the one on the Taskbar. That are for me the two things which does not loot at Win7, there are details but i wanted to show them.

I do use AeroGlassconfigurator and the Blur Deviation is on 40 but the taskbar is not influenced by that. I am really looking for the same effect as on Windows 7.

Totally agree, without Bigmuscle, i don't think i'll ever pass to Windows 8/8.1 What is missing me in 8.1 is the blur on the taskbar. With this feature and the final version, i will also pay for the fabulous work of Big Muscle. The fun part is that aero of WIndows 7 is much more heavier than Big muscle DWM on Win8.1

Aero8 has this effect. It's definitely theme thing like BM pointed out. Yes, it have, i using it, but stripes from theme and stripes from AeroGlass tool by BM differs from each other. I just thinking about theme without stripes to enable them from BM tool.Oh I know what you mean, but I'm sure it's just a image being overlayed on the windows. Just checked in WSB. It's indeed image. The new version with the installer works like a charm Thanks BIgmuscle. Is there any chance that you will be able to found a solution for the Taskbar blur effect without an external software ? With the update 1 of Windows 8.1, we will be able to play WIndows 8 application from the desktop, with aero this will really the best os from my personal opinion
