  1. Default values:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows]"LoadAppInit_DLLs"=dword:00000000"AppInit_DLLs"="""RequireSignedAppInit_DLLs"=dword:00000001
Default values for user swatches: none.

The regkey "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Panel" does not exists on my computer before installing swatches.reg

  2. It has been said many times. Win8.1 is complete new reimplementation of all objects. Win8 is just re-use of already existing objects + reimplementing of small part of code which reuses that objects.

Thanks for the explanation. Sorry if I did not carefully read all the questions posed by other users, I only remember reading that 8.1 is using DirectX 11 instead of DirectX 10 although I read most posts here since February :/

  3. Guys, I've got a problem.. Just bought a new notebook with W8 installed. I tried various methods to install Aero Glass, but none of them worked. I tried with the installer and with the batch tool, but even if they say everything went fine, after reboot, I have no glass windows (only taskbar). The same happens even if I try to enable/disable Glass through Aero Glass Tweaker. Any idea on how to solve the problem?

Try disabling Secure Boot in your BIOS.

  4. Thank you, now testing and I'll tell you if something goes wrong :)

EDIT: Yes, it disables by itself after about 30mins

Ah, by the way, having read the discussion above: The same way as it's legal to autoclick, it's allowed to hook Windows API calls, it's our computers and we mute boxes if we want to.

Moreover, it does not prevent users from reporting issues encountered when using Aero Glass for Win8, that's even the opposite, it allows to test it on a daily basis: that's a release candidate after all.

  5. @bigmuscle: May I ask what's the name of the theme you're using in your official website demo? That's fabulous!! Thx in advance~

On this screenshot, this is the tweaked custom resource I made wich is included with AGTweaker.

It's a mix of Win8 Release Preview theme and Windows 7 Aero theme.

Link is provided below in my signature.

bigmuscle, keep going for the final version you're almost there! :thumbup

  6. Yes, If DWM gets killed too often (for example by clicking Apply in AGTweaker more than 3 times per minute) you will be disconnected from your windows account and will have to log in again.

I'm also fine with ByteHacker's modifications to AGTweaker, I purposely provided the source code so that anyone can play with -- As long as it respects the CDDL license (credits, open source if modded version is published).

  7. c) I'm searching for someone experienced who would be able to create official theme for the Aero Glass utilization. This theme should be elegant, clean and it should be made only as a modification of the original Win8 theme resource. (so only PNG compatible with default Win8 Aero theme) It mustn't be the complete msstyle theme. I would suggest to base the look on Win8 Consumer/Release Preview (square look with shadows, bordered frame buttons, caption glow etc.) It must look good with Aero Glass effect - possibly regardless the selected frame color.

You may use the theme that come with AGTweaker if you wish.

It's compatible with Windows 8 default theme and based on Release Preview theme, with more shadow and some fixes to make it closer to Windows 7 style:
