i get it often - it seems random but far too often - its been commented on before but as far as i know Bigmuscle has never answered - its a pain - i have said - ok when the pc boots show it - after that imo its an intrusion - yes its beta software but what other beta do you know that does that - the thought is that the program will become shareware at some cost and that Bigmuscle does not want a nearly finished version out there without this
i suffer it - i like the effect it gives and will be happy to pay a reasonable cost for it when complete but this is taking it too far over time
maybe Bigmuscle would make a comment

Please, could you post here the file version of your C:\Windows\System32\UDWM.dll and dwmcore.dll? And state if it is 32-bit or 64-bit.

i did the same the other week and was amazed by the result - it just worked - it was between 2 laptops - not remotely the same spec - all it asked was for me to activate the version in the new laptop - i did now want to do that as i was not wanting a long term swap so cannot confirm that bit worked

Hey what is up with the pop-up big muscle nag when changing windows? like the one below as I type this post..
There's nothing special to do with this except clicking OK.
I assume that bigmuscle intends to release the final version as a shareware and thus added "DEMO" messages in the beta to avoid releasing an almost stable version for free and encourage people buying the final version.
I disapprove but that's bigmuscle's software, he has the right to do what he wants with it and I'm tired of struggling with those nag dialogs, won't make further attempts to hide them before the final version of Aero Glass for Win8.
its a shame you cannot turn the popup box off - its a pain in the backside - one on startup is fine but he pushes it beyond funny - moaning really i know - its nothing to do with your software which is great - i have posted same on his thread but he just ignores all comments on it

finally found a theme that works for me and able to use D3D - sure its been asked or commented on but how do i adjust blur - if i use the tweaker it has no effect - is it still an adjustable setting - maybe its still my theme
D3D mode works the same way as it worked in Win7 so the only way to adjust the blur is the ColorizationBlurBalance settings. But yes, it does a bit different thing than extending blur radius as BlurDeviation in D2D does. You could try app such as AeroTuner to modify the native settings.
To others, please don't discuss any theme-related things here, neither rounded border etc. I does not have anything to do with this piece of software.
whatever the setting blur is fine now i have D3D working - i was just puzzled as to why it did not change when altered in the tweaker program as it had - thats obviously for D2D - if it had been said i had missed it - all in all the less there is to adjust the better - what we had in 7 worked - or what i had - so the same here - i will go with what you give us

as hard as i try with Direct3D i cannot get it as i want it as well - i know/understand that thats a theme thing - the theme i am using will not work in Direct3D - BUT it works for me so i continue with2D - i accept the arguments that 3D is better but if both can be incorporated then its a user choice - surely in the end having both modes will cause less hassle - yes put a heath warning that 3D is not as good as 2D and no support will be given - but leave it at that

pop up nag screen
how does it work - i was on and off pc all day yesterday - saw it once - so far this morning in just over an hour have seen it twice - to show it on boot up is ok or just about ok - but to keep showing it is ott i think - i will be going back a couple of versions and that surely is not the object as nothing is then learnt

popup at boot is fair enough but does it have to be every 30min or whatever - yes its beta but you want feedback - mine will be i am not using it as i guess others will post

@bigmuscle - thanks for the comment - i am learning as i go - what has been confusing me is that up to 0.5 the theme i am using worked fine - something changed from 0.6 - i had not realised that and posted the above as a hint/help to others who also may have the problem
the fault is mine but not having any knowledge i did not see it
to help others it could be useful if you stated that and included a download to a theme that you are using - know works - it may not suit users but would show your aero working

i said above it does not work for me - after a bit of playing i do see some aero - by playing i mean changing the theme i use - in all versions upto 0.5 i used AeroLIte theme - this was [i think] a carry over from trying to get diffident coloured text in window title bars
if i now go back to Win8 standard theme then 0.7 works - colours of aero are awful but i guess that just as i have it and taskbar whilst aero is grey - again i guess thats me
i suspect all the above will be true for 0.6 - which also did not work for me
i have never played much with themes - people talk about win 7 theme and others that work well - without reading back 36 pages - would those who have it working well post the theme they are using and if possible a download or link
to Bigmuscle and the mods - if you think this a bad idea please feel free to edit the above - but it seems to me more people have problems that enough and maybe this is the reason

seems i always have problems - does not work for me - but let me confirm i am doing it correctly
i extract the files to E:\dwm\mydwm - i choose that as thats what the reg file has in it
restart and no areo
i also extracted it to c:\dwm and changed that as the path in the reg file - again no aero
i am coming from version 0.5 as 0.6 never worked for me - do i need to delete any reg entries or add or edit any more
so what am i doing wrong??
go back to 0.5 and everything works

just rename the exe - that seemed to work for me but 0.6 does not work for me - aero is too dark and i dont seem to be able to cure that - plus taskbar is wrong - not bothered to play as 0.5 works well

I do not force anyone to use it, if you don't want to preview new version, you don't have to.
i am very keen to try it and add any help i can - i have infact tried it but it does not work for me - i installed - ran the exe and no aero - i looked i the registry and there was no DeviceFeatureLevel - i added that at 0x9100 which was the only value that had worked in the past and aero still did not work
that may well be me doing something wrong - i dont think so but will get back to it later

sounds interesting but for me 0.5 works - i fully realise its a preview but having to have the cmd window popping up is nor good - to have a nag window after an hour or is that every hour is a step too far for me
i will stay with 0.5 - sorry if thats not what you want - i dont mind testing and getting the odd black screen or lockup but thats it

Applied these settings to Registry and Aero Glass is looking, and working better than ever. Hope if anyone tries them it works as good for you too.
not tried them yet so question may not be relevant - but would that not depend on what theme you are using

0.5 works fine with 0.4 settings - taskbar has changed - i need to work on that as its not as good for me - will look at settings above

i keep getting a message about explorer7 - does not seem to matter if i tick that box or not

it seems to be that key that has given all the problems - for many 9300 has not worked - 9100 seems better - thats what worked for me - so can this be something you add as an adjustable setting

0.4 seems to work - there seemed to be some confusion over a registry value - but once that was resolved most people have reported it working

Adding that registry key and value does not work for me. Everything opaque.
you could try also different values - e.g. 0x9100 or 0x9200.

Use those files with 0.4 and that registry entry.
thanks - have just edited post above and for me it does not work - again point me in the right direction - there are more reg entry files from 0.3 - should those remain or be deleted - all stupid questions maybe but this is new to me

give more details - which files did you use the origin 0.4 files or with the 2 modified ones - what were your other registry settings - can you post a reg file for dwn

i had similar problems with versions 0.6 and 0.7 - earlier versions worked fine for me - so first try one of those - see what you get - my argument was it cannot be me as it worked until i updated to 0.6 - there may have been some truth in that but by changing the theme i was using back to a stock theme 0.6 and then 0.7 worked perfectly
so - yes - something in the program may have changed - but the solution seems to be finding the correct theme to run with it
