  1. heh. interesting methods, i'll play around with both in vmware and see where they get me. thanks guys ^_^
  2. so i'm looking into making another version of my win2k install cd, and i'd like to be able to edit the registry hive before an install. alas, i've yet to see anything telling me how to do this, yet i know it can be done. nor am i finding any howtos/infos on playing with the win2k install texts/images >.> and while most of my nifty updates to the iso are updated installs for firefox and such, i'd really like to drop some of these registry tweaks in before install (like 48bit LBA for instance...) so a post install reg merge wouldn't really suit in this case. any help will be lavished with praise~ ..... whenever i remember to look at this thing again. -Tsuki
  3. most drive makers have some sort of 'low level format' utility, which isn't a true low level format, it just writes 1's and 0's to the drive from start to finish and leaves them as 0's, which almost always gets rid of any troublesome partition issues (it worked for the 10gig laptop drive i have in my snesdrive assembly ;D) i was having the same sort of issue (only double equal sized partitions) i tracked down the fujitsu zeroing util and wiped my drive. hasn't even looked funny at me since. so as long as the drive is blank or you don't care about whats on it, hunt down the drive makers 'low level format' utility and give it a shot. ^_^ note: you WILL need to find the one from the maker of YOUR drive, mixing different drive/utility makers is a bad idea, they all perform the 'formats' differently, and the drives themselves don't like it when you try to do it wrong.
  4. i'm trying to play with the registry hiv settings _before_ the install (for fun and profit, well.. okay.. just fun.) and i can't for the life of me find any hives for nt4. are they coded into dlls? or some goofy database? -TSuki
  5. so after the removing of ie, you lose AD.. something i'd prefer not to have happen (i hate icons >.>) so. 1: is there a way to rip it out and install just that? 2: if no, is there a program (that isn't a complete shell replacement) that'll let me do the same thing? -Tsuki
  6. yeah, i got nlite a day or so ago, cool. off i go to strip out the crap -Tsuki
  7. so i was looking through that remove-ie project page, and checking some other things, i've come to the conclusion i'd like to make a disc without IE for testing .. yet i still want dx9c, will it still install on a -remove-ie'd box? -Tsuki --(thought i'd ask and take the safe route of getting info and look like an id***, than waste a cdr i might need for something else >.>)
