  1. Ok, the fact that the 'Password never expires' option was unchecked didn't cause the problem (as I never expected it would have, but my last post, in a way, seemed to imply that the problem was gone). Typical new symptom that arrived today was that the cursor in the 'type in your password' dialog just disappeared, only to return after a reboot. :s I've done 3 installations now, without any succes. Looking beyond nLite config (last version attached), could any of the following updates cause this issue? Furthermore, I integrated IE7 and WMP11.Please help me, especially since this is not for myself. I can't deliver a computer to friends with this kind of problem. Voet_v1.2.ini
  2. That's odd, when checking the Local Users and Groups, I found that the option 'Password never expires' was unchecked, while I checked the option when in nLite.
  3. Thanks for the info, but hibernation is in fact disabled. I now have an installation with the first administrator account set up hidden and with a password, furthermore I've added the Group Policy Management Console (missing in second installation), next to Active Directory service and Local Security Settings (missing in first installation). Doesn't fix it either. Just a question next to this one: have any of you experienced any problems when making an administrator account (member of both the group Admins and the group Users) a regular user account (by removing its Admins group membership)?
  4. Ouch, that's odd: although I didn't remove "Local Security Settings" this time, I can't open 'Local Security Policies' from the Control Panel: LAST_SESSION.INI
  5. Just made an installation with the services above, but I get the same results. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I unhid the first administrator account (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList, DWORD:Username=1), but if so, why should that initiate the behavior described?
  6. Just made a clean installation with 6 user accounts (currently all admins, without password specified). All working fine for a couple of hours. Now I suddenly get the following: First logon (after reboot) works correctly. After logging out the first user or just switching to another user (random), XP asks for a password. Just hitting [Enter] suffices to log in. When logging out the second user or just switching to a third random user, XP again asks for a password, but hitting [Enter] gives an error message (wrong password). From this moment, all user accounts are blocked this way (including the first and second already logged in users). Only a reboot (losing all data from logged in users) enables logging in again. Searched high & low, couldn't find anything. Last_Session.ini
  7. SENS is set to Automatic.
  8. Thanks for replying. I just thought that since it was removed by nLite, tracing back these steps to re-install it shouldn't be too hard. 'Simply' installing isn't that simple if you have installed & configured Windows, made an image, added users and their personal preferences, made an incremental image, installed and configured all necessary software and made a second incremental image... and now having to do it all over again just for the sake of a tray icon... That's why I thought it would be a bit less 'pain in the a??' to re-install the service
  9. Disable autologon by setting AutoAdminLogon to '0' (DWORD) in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.
  10. NLA re-register doesn't work... Could someone please help me re-installing the Network Location Awareness service? (see nla.txt for info on what I've found, nla_ext.reg shouldn't be necessary afaik) nla.txt nla.reg nla_ext.reg
  11. A modest kick...
  12. I've already came across the issue you've mentioned once on an Asus A8N-VM CSM, but apart from the fact that this is not an Asus A8N motherboard we're dealing with, it also doesn't explain the fact that a regular Windows installation with the nForce drivers etc. installed afterwards doesn't show the 'unknown device' (DeviceList_withoutProblems.txt).
  13. Yes, after installing Windows I tried to install the nForce driver package again, but without success (the unknown device stayed in the device manager).
  14. I've got exactly the same problem. Had this problem with and without setting an admin password. Attached ini. Last_Session.ini
  15. I've got this problem, too, but with some additional trouble. I can login when I manually choose for 'Eigenaar' ('Owner' in Dutch), but when the system locks, nothing gets me logged in ('Eigenaar'/'Owner', 'Beheerder'/'Administrator', no pass, with/without admin pass as set in nLite).
  16. Did you remove the SENS (System Event Notification) service? Don't...
  17. Searched for this for over a day now, can't find a solution... System specs (of relevance): AMD Sempron 2800 ASRock ALiveNF4G-DVI Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 SATA300 I integrated the following drivers: AMD Sempron C'nC (1.3.2.16)\amdk8.inf,0 nForce (8.26)\Ethernet\nvenetfd.inf,0 nForce (8.26)\IDE\WinXP\sata_ide\nvata.inf,0 nForce (8.26)\SMBus\nvsmbus.inf,0 nVidia (91.31)\nv4_disp.inf,0 Realtek NIC (649)\Netrtlx.inf,0 Realtek Sound (R1.45)\WDM\HDA.inf,0 KB888111 integrated (Meulc Dutch Update Pack + Audio Addon, this works 100% OK, tried it multiple times on other systems) When installed, Windows first prompts that the SATA-drive is installed. Afterwards, there's one Unknown Device in the Device Manager. I pointed to all driver folders, though none are recognized as being the right driver for the device. With Unknown Devices, all I get is the following as not being installed properly: However, I also get this in Unknown Devices when doing an installation without nLite, but the unknown device is not in the device manager. 1) Is there some driver or hardware support I shouldn't remove? (ini-file attached, and Unknown Devices devices list) 2) After some restarts, the system locks up when starting Windows (occasionally HDD activity, just the Logon screen 'Windows is starting...'). 18. Figuring the two problems above could have the same cause, I found on the forums that removing Network Local Awareness service causes the "aquiring network address" tray icons, I tried re-installing this service. It seems I have re-installed Network Local Awareness; those irritating tray icons saying "aquiring network address" are gone. I changed permissions to full on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\ and imported the attached nla.reg (this is a Dutch XP installation!). Apart from that I added "Nla" to the value Sources in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\System. Seems to suffice. However, when making a new network bridge as described in the previous post and afterward turning off one of the pc's connected to a NIC in the bridge, I still get this traytip: "One of the network cables is disconnected", after 10 seconds I see the bridge resets itself, and once again the traytip is shown. My laptop (wireless connection) with an out-of-the-box XP installation tries to aquire a network address, but eventually fails. nla.reg
  19. To share my internet connection to my notebook and second system (PC B), I have shared my internet connection (on PC A) to a network bridge with the wireless connection (ad-hoc) and the LAN-connection to PC B. Now every time I shut down my laptop or disable the wireless connection, a traytip pops up for 10 seconds, disappears for a second and re-appears again (10sec), over and over and over... Furthermore, when not having a network bridge, I have a tray icon saying "aquiring network address" which is constantly visible when the LAN-connection is active (it does work though). I found this problem on the forum already, however without a solution. Last_Session.ini
