If I create $Docs, but leave it empty, would that mean the irritating My Pictures\Examples (dunno of "examples" is the right name, in the Dutch Windows it's "voorbeelden") would NOT be created?

Great idea! Perhaps we should do something similar for troubleshooting? Like a list of frequent problems and their solutions, for newbies?

I think that your filenames are being cut off to the 8.3 format either during burning to DVD or during copying with installation. (Network installation may treat these files/filenames differently because it's another medium altogether.) There is a solution for this. Nope. Only a minute after I posted this thread I thought about trying to disconnect one of my harddrives to see if that mattered... and, well, it did . I have a system with 2 (sata) HD's: First one containing a bootloader and Linux, second one containing Windows. I tried switching the HD connectors so the Windows one would be the first one, I tried only leaving the Linux one connected... that all didn't work. The CD just wouldn't boot when the linux HD was connected (didn't matter if it was first or second...). Well, I'm glad my problem's solved (I'll just unplug the linux one for a moment when installing windows). This is odd, though. The bootup of the CD really shouldn't look at any of the HD's until it's time to select a partition, right? (I didn't modify the CD to load a sata controller; was planning to use the F6 method .) (Might be something to add to some FAQ or another, so someone else doesn't ask what I just asked...)

Hi, First of all, I did search the forums and the net for any of this but came up blank... I have a mysterious problem when trying to boot from my slipstreamed WinXP + SP2 cd: It asks whether to boot (as normal). If I press any key (after which the blue screen should appear and setup should start to load various disk drivers), the screen flashes, as if changing resolution or mode, so _something_ is probably started. There is no CD or HD activity. I tried this with both my drives (DVD & CDRW), same result. The CD is just a Dutch XP cd with SP2 and a custom winnt.sif and uxtheme... I've had errors in my winnt.sif the last time I made a custom CD (for SP1), but then an error message appeared on the screen saying something was wrong... now just blackness... The CD is burned as documented on http://www.theeldergeek.com/ ... I thought maybe that wasn't working or correct anymore for SP2, so I used the method on this site (with MS' iso creation utility), and that had exactly the same result. I don't know what could be causing this... I can browse all CD's I created perfectly under Windows... Anyone any ideas? TIA
