  1. Silly question from me to you, but have you loaded the sound drivers for the sound card on the server? by default 2003 does not set-up multimedia devices?
  2. 1st I would like to know what ver of 2003 you are using as microsoft state that only the following support PAE and I find it a little odd for someone to be running 2003 Enterprise or above and want a usb camera on it? If its none of the following versions you may as well turn off PAE as it will not be making any difference (according to microsoft)? PAE is the added ability of the IA32 processor to address more than 4 GB of physical memory. The following operating systems can use PAE to take advantage of physical memory beyond 4 GB: Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition source http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283037 An alternative option (never tried before by myself) would be to install oracle Vbox virtual machine on the server as it supports usb and load an XP OS on it.
  3. At what point does this stop appear? 1. If its during initial set-up i.e. during the blue set-up screens, I suspect its because 2000 does not know about one or all of the disk controllers, if this is the case I would doubt that dell would provide a driver for Win2k for it to be supplied by pressing F6 during the initial set-up screen, you could try intel to see if they provide a win2k driver for the disk controllers if your using the standard chip-set controller or try the controller manufacturer if its an option card to see if they have a driver. 2. If you have successfully built the server and it is failing during use then its going to be one of your kernel mode drivers, disk/nic or other device. 0x0000001E ERROR_READ_FAULT winerror.h # The system cannot read from the specified device. 0xC0000005 STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION ntstatus.h # The instruction at "0x%08lx" referenced memory at # "0x%08lx". The memory could not be "%s". This is a good source for troubleshooting stop errors http://support.microsoft.com/kb/275678 along with this tool called err.exe found here http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=985
  4. Was the server installed using the license option per seat option or per server option?
