  1. Hi nuhi,

    This is on a WIn10 RS1 14393.

I just remove the Windows Firewall (Removes Firewall UI and its functionality), in a off-line case, which I plan to use for installation on a PC.

Let me try to duplicate the issue and attache the preset.

Thank you very much for helping.

  2. Hi nuhi,

Not sure if this question has been asked and answered.

How does NTLite driver integration interact with Win10 installation?

Assuming Win10 has built-in driver, but an old version.

Then after integration of a newer version of the driver.

    What would happen?

    1. Win10 install build-in older driver, then update to newer driver during installation process

    2. Win10 just install the newer driver from integration, and ignore the older built-in ones?

    Or none of the above?

    TIA

  3. I have encountered same issue on both EN-US and CN-TW.

I removed whole Windows Firewall Service back then.

Office can't open files sometimes, can't really identify a pattern.

If I only remove the Windows Firewall UI, maybe Office can work properly?

    TIA

  4. Finally got time to re-visit this issue.  Has been pretty busy in the past 3 months.

If I remove Windows Firewall (Firewall UI and functionality) under Internet Connect Sharing under Windows Firewall Services.

Will removing this component alone affect the working of Microsoft Office?

    TIA

  5. Hello nuhi et al,

I am wondering which Firewall component(s) is direct related to Microsoft Office.

What I know is that if you remove firewall, then you can't open Office file (docx, xlsx, pptx etc) from Outlook, sometime can't even open the file directly.

However there are 3 firewall components.

Anyone has any idea why firewall is related to Office? and which one(s) are actually linked?

    TIA

  6. Hi nuhi,

I am an id***.  Was not aware of the grouping change of the components.

You are right, I am able to locate the Firewall, Bitlock and HomeGroup now.

Removed them as I planned, all is working now.

Thanks again and to everyone helps, please forgive my ignorance.

  7. Okay, I test on 2 different PC.  Both are showing exact same issue, Bitlock, Home Group and Firewall are not available for remove.

PC1: HP Laptop, Win10 Pro x64, English, both Live and Off-line don't show the above 3 components for removal

PC2: Gigabyte HTPC, Win10 Pro x64, Traditional Chinese, same as above

Both PC are fresh install of Win10 Pro, some tweaks done by Yamicsoft Windows 10 Manager to optimize network speed and remove startup items

Feel free to let me know how I can help to find the root cause, thanks

  8. Hi nuhi,

I upgrade to 3333 beta.  The missing component issue is still there.

This is my company laptop, using Win10 Pro 10240.  Fresh new install, not upgrade from Win8.1

There are 3 components missing from list preventing me from remove:

    1. BitLock

    2. Home Group

    3. Firewall

And the weird thing is both Live and Off-Line mode, the above 3 components are not to be seen.

    Rest seems to be fine.

I have not tried my home computer yet.

Is there any debug file I can provide for further analysis?

    TIA

  9. Let me share more about my environment, hope these are clues can help nuhi.

    • I am upgrading from Win8.1 to Win10, not fresh install, Win8.1 does not have this issue
    • NTlite is 3250 beta, Language : English, System locale: Traditional Chinese
    • BitLocker and HomeGroup show up in Control Panel, but can't find them in NTLite Components list (under Network and System)

With regarding the Welcome Center error message, it shows LogonUI encounter an exception, has to stop.

I am assuming it is caused by removing Welcome Center, but could be different root cause
