  1. As you suggested, I downloaded the XP updates and IE8 OnePiece updates from the same source. 1. For the XP Updates I downloaded/unzipped/ran Batch and got 126 files = 128 MB. 2. For IE8 I did the similar procedure and got one file OnePiece = 13 KB. With 78 MB to play with and just over 128 MB of just these updates, where to cut/remove?? Thanks for your suggestion. Are the other users of this Forum using a DVD?? I see some talking about Drivers, DOTNETFX, etc. They must have some BIG CDs if not DVDs.
  2. I JUST RAN NLITE USING ONLY XP (ORIGINAL OEM UPDATE IN 2002) AND SP3 DOWNLOAD, AND THE ISO WAS 622 MB LESS THAN THE 800+/- MB I HAVE BEEN GETTING. AT LEAST THAT LEAVES 78 MB FOR UPDATES, HOTFIXES, DRIVERS, ETC. WITH 78 MB TO PLAY WITH, WHAT SHOULD BE ADDED??
  3. hope you have perfect vision at 83. i will remember to not use caps with you. i do not agree with your statement he was jut saying iwas saying nothing. what again, was he saying?
  4. THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENT ABOUT THE SP2 .. I SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT. BUT THANKS AGAIN.
  5. They do but he's asking to take it one step at a time so we can pinpoint the problem. BTW, you don't need to slipstream SP2 as you are slipstreaming SP3. Only the latest service pack is needed.
  6. ARE YOU SAYING SOMETHING, OR JUST BOOSTING YOUR POST TOTAL?
  7. I TRIED TO FOLLOW YOUR SUGGESTIONS, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO MUCH. 1. I MADE AN ISO OF XP (MY ORIGINAL COPY WITHOUT ANY SPs. IT IS AN OEM UPGRADE COPY 2002. THE XP ONLY INPUT TO THE ISO WAS 484MB. 2. DOWNLOADED THE SP3 FILE WHICH YOU SUGGESTED (AND I HAD DONE SO PREVIOUSLY AS WELL .. BUT DOWNLOADED AGAIN. AS YOU NOTE, THE SIZE OF THE SP3 FILE IS 332MB. 3. MADE AS ISO OF THE XP ONLY (NOTED ABOVE) AND THE ISO SIZE IS 516 MB. 4. TRIED TO FOLLOW YOUR SUGGESTION ABOUT PUTTING THE XP ISO FILE ON C:\ NOTE: NEVER TRIED BEFORE TO INPUT AN ISO FILE INTO NLITE FOR THE STARTING WINDOWS INSTALLATION. 5. TRIED TO START NLITE , BUT IT CHOKED ON THE ISO INPUT AND NEVER GOT STARTED. 6. I HAVE YET TO TRY TO USE THE XP ONLY ORIGINAL INSTALLATION DISK WITH THE SP3, BUT I KNOW THE SIZE WILL BE IN THE 800 MB+/- RANGE. 7. YOU SAID IF I WAS NO ABLE TO SLIPSTREAM XP AND SP3, YOU COULD NOT HELP ME FURTHER. 8. WELL, NOT ONLY WAS I NOT ABLE BUT UNLESSS THERE IS SOMETHING BIG I AM DOUBTFUL ANYONE CAN ... UNLESS THEY REMOVE BIG CHUNKS OF BOTH CODES, AND IF ONE CAN ONLY SLIPSTREAM THE TWO CODES WITHOUT SPACE FOR UPDATES, ETC. WHAT GOOD IS IT?? NOTE:: I AM WRITING THIS IN ALL CAPS SO I CAN READ IT EASIER. I FIND THE FONTS TOO SMALL FOR ME TO READ. SORRY IF IT BOTHERS YOU. FINAL NOTE: I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENTS AND ASSISTANCE, THANKS AGAIN. YOUR COMMENTS ARE WHAT THESE FORUMS NEED. GOOD LUCK
  8. Just got your excellent reply. I will follow your suggestion tomorrow and let you know what I find. Frankly I thought others had used nLite to slipstream XP, SP2, SP3, ADDONS, Drivers , etc, etc. I must have been dreaming. Thanks again. Till tomorrow.
  9. A few corrections to your comments: 1. I am, aware of the Last Sessions. I deleted them in the nLite input screen. I also deleted them in the nLite file in Program Files. 2. I cannot say whether other junk was added or not./ I made runs with ONLY WinXPSP2 (my normal XP CD) and SP3 each, alone. The nLite results for the separate XPSP2 and SP3, produced ISO files of 500MB EACH. 3. Further to point No. 1. I deleted everything for nLite .. ADD REMOVE, all files in Program Files ... where as you note the Last Sessions were listed. ThenI downloaded a new copy of nLite just for clarity. The results I as discussing here is for the clean downloaded of nLite. BTW, I checked to see that Last Sessions were always deleted if they tried to appear. Maybe there is a simple answer to my query, but yours is not it. BTW-2: I did separate ISO files for the XPSP2 and SP3 alone with another ISO maker. But I haven't checked the results for publication. I will do that tomorrow, hopefully.
  10. nLite was run with each XPSP2 and SP3 CDs and kept getting total ISO size was > 800MB. Tried many options, but unable to reduce these two codes together without any ADDONS etc. If this is correct, what value is there in nLite to produce an ISO file that will fit on a 700 MB CD? Will be interested in others findings. Thanks.
  11. I would like to insert an old program (Office XP) which has two major updates with SPs.It looks to me that a *.cab file is the way to go. 1. How do I create a *.cab file for nLite?? What and how goes in the *.cab file?? 2. Assuming I can create a cab file or maybe three .Cab files -- one for the original code and one each for each major mod or upgrade. On first read, only yhe first .cab would have an *.exe file -- the other two only have *.dll plus other files. 3. There are SPs for each *.cal group. How are they handled?? Just like SPs for WinXP?? It is not clear that the SPs would fit into separate cabs -- the SPs may cover more thaat just one cab. Suggestions would be appreciated, especially if someone has treated something similar. Thanks.
  12. I did see your entire reply, and I had gone to YOUR link before I made the initial Post. In fact, I had downloaded your addon maker before the post. And I sent a small donation to YOU with thanks for the Maker, addon info and data. As I said, there were comments in YOUR link that I did not understand and hope more info will be coming in the future. Comment: As you will probably note, I am a poor typist and the FORUM spell checker does not work. I get an error message saying the FORUM cannot find ieSpell on my computer. Well it is on my computer, the FORUM just cannot find it. Maybe the FORUM should look for another source for a spell checker. Sorry for any misspelled words. I will wait for your additional comments.
  13. Thanks for your reply. .I had seen the site you suggested, and had downloaded and run the UDC described there before my post here. That UDC has gone a long way to answer my questions about the items, format and AddOn Maker but I still have a few; e.g., I keep reading not to include the KB for the IE8 updates, but go to MS and get the download for the update. Fine, but what is the format of the update from MS and how is to be installed?? Other than using UDC, I have no further info on any problems and results to add. But thanks again. I will keep looking for a nLite AddOn Maker.
  14. I am new to nLite and this Forum, and I am looking for an nLite Addon Maker. There was one on the Web several years ago and a few left today, but the best one is a translation from English to Arabic -- I think. I have found nothing else that is available or would do the job I need. I hope this is the right Forum, and someone can help. Thanks.
