To update my Windows' CD, I prefer to unpack updates and update manually. So I have tried to build a service Pack (or an update, it's similar) and the problem is that UPDATE.INF is protected by UPDATE.EXE, so we can't modify update.inf, so it's impossible to create a custom update.

Windows 2003 is a bit faster than Windows XP. I prefer Windows 2003 for remote desktop and development, but the price is too higher. Moreover all hardware supported by Windows XP is supported by Windows 2003, so i can too play on it very wekl.

You can try to update your drivers or to reapply SP2.

I've read that MCE 2005 is just an optional component of Windows XP SP2. I have now the two but when I made a comparison, windiff.exe tell me that all SP2 files in I386 are different. They have (after expand the *.dl_) the same version, but their hash are different. Why ? For example upnp.dll is not the same in the to build, but it's the same version 5.1.2600.2180. The MCE 2005 version is get as this. I have Slipstream SP2 into Windows XP.

Is it not possible to use build 5.2.3790.1830 of termsrv.dll ?? I try to replace the file both in system32 and sfcdllcache folder, to copy the registry (HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer) from my Windows 2003. It does not work. Before I could use remote redktop even the user was locally disconnected (normal), but after i replaced the file, there is no more remote dektop.

It seems to work for Windows 2003 at offset 60FE3 and Windows XP at offset 60FE1 but not for Windows 2000 (with latest service pack). In this, the file is the Windows 2003 version (5.2) I found for Windows 2000 : here. Thanks !!

I need to modify LAYOUT.INF and SYSSETUP.INF for the french version of Windows 2000 Pro, Windows XP Pro and Windows 2003 Server (x86). I have read that it exist a modified version of SYSSETUP.DLL which allow to modify SYSSETUP.INF without having errors during installation. How can i modify this file (french version for the three build of Windows) ? But I don't think this file allow too to modify LAYOUT.INF. I create a test certificate. This certificate will signed a CAT file. This CAT file contains hashes of all modified files. This method is valid to have an installation without errors because of modified files ?

The hive in setupreg.hiv is use only during install in text mode. After all registry is loading from hive*.inf, so it's useless to modify setupreg.hiv. In graphic mode, there are nothing of setupreg.hiv in registry. The best and easiest solution is to create a hivecst.inf by example (don't forget to add this file into txtsetup.sif and dosnet.inf next to other hive*.inf files), which is call in latest ! If you choose to use a .reg file, the file will loading after the first logon. The advantage of hive*.inf files is they are loading with SYSTEM privileges during install.

regedit of Windows XP is the total fusion of regedit and regedt32 of Windows 2000. I'm OK with Lemonzest, if you edit setupreg.hiv, is to crack Windows. If you want to add keys, you can use a .inf file as hive*.inf on the CD.

You want to edit setupreg.hiv or to copy to a .reg file ?? If you want to edit, you just load this file into regedit, modify then unload it. The setupreg.hiv file is modified. If you want to work with a .reg file, load setupreg.hiv into the registry then export it.
