  1. Thanks very much. I should have looked a little bit harder.
  2. I use Outlook 2003 to synchronise 4 email accounts. How can I send an email from one of my accounts that isn't the default account? i.e. how can I send an email from account B if account A is the default account?
  3. When I open a new worksheet in Excel 2007, the following links appear (see image below) on the Documents tab on the Start menu. Does anyone know what they are or why they appear?
  4. Can I have 2 different versions of Microsoft Office installed on the same partition? Or can I have them installed on different partitions?
  5. I am using Excel 2003 to record irrigation water usage (see attached file). I want to be able to calculate the total and average water usage for each section that is being irrigated. Does anyone know how to do this? Irrigation.zip
  6. I have an old PC that I want to re-install Windows 98 SE on. Does anyone know if I can create an unattended installation for this OS? If so, how do I do it? Is there a program like Bart's PE that will allow me to select the partition I want to use for an unattended installation on for Win 98?
  7. The firewall is disabled. Then I doubt the firewall is an issue. I managed to get it to work using some instructions from a member of another forum. However, the instructions require me to make an addditional entry to the Hosts file in C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc folder on the client machine. I add the IP address of the web server and the domain name to the Hosts file on the client machine and then I can access my website from a client machine. Do you know what this tells me about the configuartion settings of my server and can I access my site from other client machines without having to edit the Hosts file?
  8. The firewall is disabled.
  9. Unfortunately, I can only access my website (from the server's web browser) when the server is configured to serve files from port 80. If I change the port number to anything else, a page not available error occurs. That's because after you change the port, you have to specifically state the port in the URL of the webbrowser: http://www.domain.com:8080/ Again, this works only on the server. Do you know if Windows Server 2003 has a built-in firewall. e.g. ICF.

  11. Even though my ISP allows me to run servers from my connection, will they prevent me from using port 80? If so, why? Some ISPs block port 80 to prevent people from running web servers specifically. Usually FTP is allowed, but HTTP and SMTP are usually blocked, else everyone would host their websites from home. To test this would be simple, if the server responds to a ping but does not respond to HTTP over the internet yet does respond to HTTP internally, then chances are that 80 is blocked. Unless you're behind a router and the port isn't forwarded properly. So, does that mean I can use any other port, with the exception of standard port numbers, such as port 110 for FTP, to assign to my web server? e.g. port 81, 82...etc.

  13. I am attempting to set up a website using Windows Server 2003 (Standard edition). I can view my web pages on the Server's web browser by typing in the URL of my website (i.e www.domain.tld), but I can't view them on a client web browser. Has anyone had this problem and does anyone know what causes it and how to rectify it? PS: I am using an ADSL broadband connection with a static IP address and with the firewall disabled.
  14. I am hosting a website on Windows Server 2003 (Standard Edition) using a broadband connection. I can view my web page page from the server's web browser, using the website's domain name, but I can't view the my web page on a client machine. When I attempt to view the web page on the client machine, my DNS query is returned by the domain name registrar for that domain name. The server is located on a virtual machine (VM) and uses NAT to connect to the internet. How can I view my web page on a client machine with my current setup (i.e. with the server installed on a VM)?
  15. Does anyone know if Microsoft Outlook 2003 can be installed by itself? Or can I extract the Outlook setup files from the Office 2003 CD or create a standalone ISO for Outlook 2003?
  16. I am attempting to host a website using Windows Server 2003 on a virtual machine (VM), to determine if I can get it to work before I install it as the host OS. Is the DNS Server IP Address the IP address of the VM e.g. 192.xxx.xxx.xxx or is it the public static IP address of my line e.g. 202.xxx.xxx.xxx? I need this information to delegate my name servers to my computer from the domain registrar.
  17. Incorrect. The manufacturer of my modem (Swann Communication) does not produce drivers for Win 2003 for any of its modems, according to tech support. And no, Win XP drivers do not work on a Win 2003 system, or at least they do not work on my Win 2003 system.
  18. Does anyone know where I can get an internal PCI 56K modem that supports Windows Server 2003?
  19. One I am intending to purchase. Therefore, a legal copy. I want to know what the name of the Microsoft Office 2003 product is called, so that I can purchase a copy to slipstream it into Windows XP Professional (SP2).
  20. I want to slipstrem a copy of Microsoft Office 20003 with Windows XP Professional (SP2), but the information on the MSFN Unattended Installation pages states "Only editions of Office 2003 acquired through a Volume License agreement or other non-retail channel allow you to create an administrative installation point". (Source:http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/48/) Where do I get a volume licence copy of Office 2003 and what is the product name for this version of Office?
  21. I created an unattended installation for Windows Server 2003 (Standard Edition) using the instructions on this website for unattended installations. However, I assumed that no user input would be necessary whether the OS was installed as a host or guest (virtual machine) OS. However, when I install the OS on a virtual machine, I am prompted for two inputs, 1. which partition I want to install the OS on and 2. what file system do I want to use to format this partition. Can these options be included in the winnt.sif answer file so that no user input is required to install a fully automated installation of this OS on a virtual machine? PS: Please find attached my answer file and screen shots of the prompts that I need to respond to. Unattended_setup.pdf unattend.txt
  22. I presume, from your response that what I am suggesting cannot be done, or more specifically, you don't know whether it can be done.
  23. Does anyone know if I can save a file in two different places simultaneously in Windows XP? e.g. can I save the file sample.doc in a local drive D:\ and a network drive E:\ simultaneously?
  24. If I create a rule in Outlook 2003 so that it filters out repeated spam form the same sender so that it is permanently deleted, is there a way to log the number of times a spammer has attempted to send me spam email if it is permanently deleted by a rule that I create?
  25. I am a beginner programmer. i.e. never written a program that runs in a Windows environment. I would like to write some programs that run under Win 98SE, 2000 & XP (all versions). I would like to develop a text editor, word processor and database applications that run on all of these platforms. Is there one programming language that will do all of these things? In light of my lack of programming experience and excluding cost, how do I go about choosing an approprite programming language? db.
