  1. Use Rivatuner or NV tweak utility to do that.
  2. I'm looking for an alternative shell for Windows XP that replaces explorer.exe. There's so many of them.. it's hard to pick. Explorer tends to use 19MB all the time and that's too **** much... I'd rather have a shell that takes 5MB or so without all the fancy stuff (I already use the classic theme). Does anyone know a simple shell without any bloat and special effects that takes up very little resources? Thanks.
  3. Norton is a piece of overrated bloatware imo Slow updates, bad overall detection (I've seen trojans of months old slip through Norton easily), bloated GUI, memory eater etc.... Kaspersky all the way, especially their latest Personal version. Kaspersky used to have messed up GUIs but now they equal Norton's (except the useless stuff and bloat). New virus definitions multiple times a day, good detection, decent memory usage. You can even make it detect adware and other riskware if you'd want to. I like it. Symantec has good marketing and probably by far the biggest user base. All the n00bies know 'Norton' as the only 'virusscanner' so they get it on their box, little do they know.... shame to see a below-average product being used by so many while there are many better alternatives. Even freeware scanners such as AVG are better. Let the flames begin. Edit: I forgot; NOD32 and Avast need a mention too, both of them are great free alternatives to Norton.
  4. Do you need to make ALL the distrubution folders, even the ones you don't use, on your unattended CDs? I only use 2 of them...
  5. This is a big problem which I experience all the time, with all of my self-created unattended XP CDs... After a little use and few reboots of my fresh Windows installation Windows installer gets totally messed up. My newest install (nLite CD just created yesterday) lasted for a few hours, I had like 3 programs installed and Windows Installer gave up on me.... The service still runs, but I can't install anything anymore.... The dependancies box also becomes grey, for whatever that explains. Here's some sys info: Windows XP SP2 slipstreamed (Dutch) created with nLite Services (A=automatic, M=manual, D=disabled) Automatic updates=A DHCP client=A Plug and Play=A Windows Management Instrumentation=A Workstation=A Windows Installer=M Cryptographic services=D Terminal Services=D Background tranfer thingie=M DCOM server process=D WIA=D Windows Firewall=D (The As are ALL services that I allow to run automatically) Guess those are the most important things which could be related to my problem. Unfortunately I don't have nLite installed yet so I can't give you guys a list of what Windows components I removed, but I'll do so later.
