  1. nevermind, that's what you get for linking out of the home page (unattended installs it looks like)
  2. Hey I use FF and just downloaded Thunderbird a couple of days ago(going to see if i like it), and please excuse me for asking I'm not a programmer but what is the purpose of these keys
  3. What's up I am a gaming junky and I absolutely fell in love with HL 1 and it really wasn't the single player game as much as the mods that did it especially Team Fortress Classic. My gripe is this (same as Doom3 and Halo for X Box) how do you take this long to come out with a game ( I know about the code, but the original was made 6-7 years ago) that dominates the market, there's no excuse. They have been talking about Team fortress Classic 2(mod of HL) coming out for 5 years then it just went away. Halo2 was taking advanced orders the Christmas before last. Then you got games like Battle field 1942, Digital Illusions came out with the best online 1st person shooter there is to date (my opinion) and revolutionized the genre with the incorporation of vehicles. They have come out with 2 mods the community came out with Dessert Combat, and Battle Field Vietnam in less than two years (that's how it's done). Not to mention they are coming out with Battle Field2 in the spring and none of these games will hang with the ground breaking features that are being incorporated (destroyable environment, capture streaming vid in game and edit it) HL2 would have been a great game if it came out 3 years ago but i don't think it's going to bring anything besides some new kinda cool weapons and graphics to the table. Don't get me wrong I'll probably buy it, but I feel to little to late (link to BF2)
  4. OK, the saga continues My tech PC did the same thing today, I could still get online but the error message that the IP address is being used came up. There is no conflict all of the PCs on the network are accounted for and there's only one static IP address on the network and that's not the same IP address as the PCs with the conflict. Also something I found on the DHCP router table I thought was weird. Everyone's computer name is coming up fine except for one and it's coming up with a computer name (not the PC with the conflict) that is symbols (a cross and a square) kinda like something out of wingdings font, this is not the name of the PC does anyone know what this is. thanks
  5. The thing is ( I guess I should have stated this ) is that after the PC dropped its current IP it wouldn't pick up another not even a private IP address (All 0's) and none of the PCs in the office are set to fixed except my server and it's been this way for a year, w/no problems.
  6. If anyone has any ideas i would appreciate. This morning when i came into work everything was fine everyone had connectivity to the local network and the Internet. At 9:30 one of the workers PCs simply dropped it's Ip address and refused to renew it. There was an error message that said something to the affect of the IP address your trying to use is already in use, which makes no sense to me because the PC set up for dynamic IP address so shouldn't the router simply give it another. Anyway I have a big enough range of addresses set up in the router and nothing has changed on the network in 6 months. I rebooted, same thing so i went into the properties of the NIC and assigned a manual address instead of dynamic and now I can get on line but I still don't like the fact that I'm working around an error instead of fixing it. The machine is an XP home ( I know) and the only thing that has changed is that he installed the new Norton AV which claims that it has new protection against Worms and Spyware. Also the hub he's PC is connected to is shared by 4 other PCs and linked to another switch with more PCs on it and everyone else is up and running Thanks in advance for any help or leads, Spacemonkey
  7. What's up everyone: I got an XP(Pro) machine that is acting really strange all of a sudden nothing is working right. Everytime I try to launch IE or OE I get an hour glass then nothing, same with any other programs (especially apps that are accessing the web, I do see the processes in the Manager for any app I attempt to open, but I can't physically see or use the programs). I'm doing a VS right now but I really don't think that's it. It seemed to me at first that the Explorer was taking all the CPU time Which made sense consider the programs that would open (before i would loose control of them) and act really choppy almost like I was running a older system (low RAM or Mem, etc.) If anyone has some good recomendations for figuring out what exactly is my problem please send some info, thanks.
