Last Versions of Software for Windows 98SE

I don't believe so. The two you mentioned seem to be it, and Spybot S&D will be dropping support for W9x with version 2: http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=404227&postcount=7 If your system can boot a Live CD, you might consider looking at the Linux-based "Rescue" CDs available: F-Secure Rescue CD (uses Knoppix): http://www.f-secure.com/en_EMEA-Labs/security-threats/tools/rescue-cd BitDefender Rescue CD: http://download.bitdefender.com/rescue_cd/ Dr. Web Live-CD: ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/livecd/ I hope this helps.

    V-Buster Antivirus

Just an FYI. I noticed the following posting at the FreeDOS site http://www.freedos.org/: "Virus scan for DOS 2011-01-04 23:32 - The FreeDOS Project It's great to see organizations providing support for DOS, especially anti-virus tools. V-BUSTER is small, but has all it's functions still working in DOS. Supports: normal system scan, memory scan, save a copy of your bootsector, tsrchk(on access file scanning). Available at http://vbuster.virtualave.net/" The free version (under "Downloads") lists Windows 98 (requires .Net Framework 2). I haven't had a chance to look at it (yet). FWIW The download (vbust.zip) is 461K in size.

What is the "winsock fix" ?

Here's a mirror of the old Simtel archives, specifically for Trumpet Winsock (versions 2 through 5). ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/simtelnet/trumpet/winsock/ As part of the Simtel archive, these should be the original Trumpet files, as opposed to GOK files (God Only Knows), which one might find elsewhere. I scanned them with Clamwin, and they came up clean. I haven't had a chance to look at them more closely, or scan them with anything else. IIRC I could not extract the .exe files (versions 3 - 5) with either WinRAR or 7zip.

    IPv6 and Win98

Unless you happen to live in an area where broadband isn't available, and your only choice is dial-up. "Survey: 40 percent in U.S. have no broadband" http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-10454133-94.html Quote: "...many of those in rural areas reported that broadband is simply not available."
