  3. I want to change the default speech from M.S. Sam to Mary. I downloaded the Speech SDK 5.1, but it didn't help. Does anyone know how I can change the voice to Microsoft Mary ? Thanks, Andy
  4. Dear Microsoft and Bill Gates, Why did your company break my fax modems with Service Pack 3 ? Have I gone onto your property and broken some of your "stuff" ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since the post, I went back and did a System Restore to before SP3 was applied and my fax service works again. So apparently there is a problem with SP3 and a working SP2 Windows Fax Service IMHO. Another issue that occured during my troubles was; after opening the Fax Console (and not getting any services, not being able to see any previously sent faxes, etc., the system kept telling me that a Windows Shared Fax Printer Driver needed to be installed - of course there isn't a driver to install because it is already installed... nor do I have a disk to install the "driver" from, there is no "Microsoft" subheading to select a set of drivers from here nor can I find one on the MS Windows Update or Technet site. When I was finally able to get the Fax driver Properties window open, it said I was running the SP3 version. If I have more time to waste (sarcasm), I will reinstall SP3 to get more detail than provided here, but for now, I can say that on my system SP3 broke my Fax Service.
  5. This error starting showing up after install SP3 for my XP Home Edition. Can someone help me get my fax going again ? Reinstall Fax service using Repair mode. Win32 error code: 13. This error code indicates the cause of the error.

  7. There is some incorrect information that says it is in XP. I don't recall the site. I could not receive a fax. My modem was trying to connect, but timed out. The Event Viewer had a generic error code. Maybe the phone lines weren't good on that particular day. I have sucessfully received faxes before. Andy

  12. On a system with XP Home Edition I have a customized program, explorer2.exe that shows Go instead of start. (It gives me room for one more window.) It worked fine on XP Pro. I did the register change that was required and renamed all old instances of explorer.exe to exp.exe. It works fine as an admin and "F8" mode. It won't work as a limited user. Thanks, Andy
  13. I am writing an assembly program to assign text to different hot key combinations. I am trying to find all the combinations that Windows uses, so I don't try to tromp over them. Thanks, Andy

  22. I have a program that worked fine using XP Pro under both a limited user acct. and an admin. I am now using Home Edition, and the program only works if I open the .asm files using RunAs. When I asked the author about it, he said that "The program needs disk access." It seems kind of silly going to an Admin and then going back to a L.U. acct. Any suggestions? Thanks, Andy
