I checked for Win updates for my laptop running Win 7 prof and IE 11. Ten possible updates were shown, 8 of which, however, were indicated for Win XP and some kind of server. I unchecked these 8 and downloaded the remaining 2. I then opened Win Update in my desktop running Win XP Prof and IE 8.0 to be advised that the relevant website was not available as it had not been for a not insignificant time already. I have a serious problem comprehending the underlying rationale of this situation concerning updates for Win 7 and Win XP, respectively, and shall appreciate any assistance/explanation and especially, updating XP. Thank you None of the ten updates presented were for both Win 7 and Win XP. Two were for Win 7 and eight for Win XP and, if my memeory is correct, for server 2003 I just belatedly realize that I had totally misread the descriptions of the available update and I can now only offer my sincere apologies for any problem caused.

In early 2012 I purchased a Dell Inspiron laptop that came with Win 7 Home Premium. I then purchased an upgrade product key from a reputable retailer and had no problem to download and instal Win 7 Professional. Ever since then I have been harrassed by Microsoft claiming that my Win 7 Prof is not genuine and asking me to putchase the proper programme. Of course, MS prefers to take me to the moon instead of providing a facility to resolve the issue on-line with the possible, but for myself being deaf impossible, contact by phone. Any assistance will appreciated. Herewith some more details: I installed the native to the laptop Win 7 premium home edition and succeeded without ado to activate this version using the product key on the bottom of the case. I purchased the upgrade to Win 7 64 bit Prof, opened the upgrade web page under "all programmes" and using the product key contained in the big package representing the upgrade. Upon nstallation I tried to activate and I kept being advised that a wrong product key had been entered and that repeatedly. I do not believe that I entered repeatedly a key different from the on shown on a piece of cardboard I was holding in my hand. Some time later on I managed to contact a MS representative by chat and received confirmation that both product keys were valid keys. So, I am not only puzzled, but also quite a bit more than annoyed that almighty Microsoft keeps pestering me to purchase a "valid" product key and reminding me that my version is not genuine, without however, offering a facility to resolve the issue on-line and takes me on a trip to nowhere in a merry-go-round chasing not existing on-line solutions. I wonder whether the set-up by MS to screen product keys by the upgrade downloading facility is properly duplicated by the set-up screening for activation

I have now succeeded to integrate a SATA driver into my XP CD, to burn an ISO XP CD and to install the XP OS on my laptop that came with Win 7 64 bit installed and hence with an Intel RST chipset controller. Now I am able to continue working with XP installed in the new laptop. Thank you again for your assistance and patience.

With your advice I have succeeded one or two steps further, but then was advised that Windows had experienced a problem and was forced to close the program. My steps had been: In the multi-choice screen I had selected to integrate a driver and to create a bootable ISO file. In the insert screen I had inserted iaAHCI from a file f6flpy-x86 (I am working in XP Prof 32 bit that I intend to install into a laptop carrying an "Intel® 6 Series /C 200 Series Chipset Family 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller 1c03" with a current driver in the Win 7 configuration "msahci.sys".) From the menu of Intel chipset contollers I ha selected the "5 Series 6 port" as the 6 series was not shown. When it came to the screen "start activity" I was advised of the problem Windows had encountered. I had tried again, but using the driver v11.2.0.1000 WHQL recommended early on in your write-up with the result of being advised that such a driver did not exist, although I had tried various names that had shown up, (32 bit Intel RST AHCI & RAID - 32 bit Intel RT textmode driver v11.2.0. 1000 WHQL), but to no avail. I resorted back to iaAHCI, bur used the "Intel Mobile Express...". version of controller, as this version had been installed in an earlier laptop of the same manufacturer. But this time the progrm did not even go as far as before with the Series 5 controller version as Windows advised again of having encountered a problem and requested an error report to be sent to Microsoft. Perhaps you are able to guide me further, I am not far from giving up. Thank you.

Intergrating a SATA - AHCI driver into my XP installation CD is my goal in order to be able to continue with XP in a newer laptop fitted with an Intel® 6 series/c 200 series chipset family 6 port SATA AHCI controller 1C03. The fact that the multi-bar option screen nor the "insert" screen do not appear at all, but the one with the "import" button, seems to indicate that there is something wrong with my program/setup, although I have not been able to even guess what it might be. As a long time observer of this topic and so far a rather unsuccessful user of nLite I wonder whether eRom mighr be so kind and ndicate the source of the nLite program used. I have downloaded the program from multiple sources, but never got past the stage of copying the OS from the hard drive. The multi choice does screen not come up at all and the next screen has an "import" button insteadof the normal "insert" one. Thank you

My different downloads of nLite do not behave in the expected manner. They seem to copy the XP installation CD correctly by indicating duplicate data as the copy on my hard drive. However, when I then proceed to the next screen that I expect to offer options of integrating and lastly to create an ISO disk a different blank screen comes up with a button named "import" instead of "insert". Any assistance /advice will be greatky appreciated. Thank you hmtjakob

I am not a little surprised to learn that someone still succeeds in installing XP on a newer pc using nLite. All versions of nLite that I had downloaded from various places did not work in that after having copied the OS from the respective place nLite went straight to the renamed "import" screen, skipping the screen displayong the various choices. The f6 approach got me nowhere either as on both a desktop and a laptop with both XP Home and XP Prof pressing f6 did not result in the expected screen but setup kept happily " loading files". I have no idea what might have gone wrong in either case - Fernando has indicated that Nuhi has stopped supporting his program - and I have regrettably concluded that I have run out of options. I will continue watching this topic. Thanks to all.

Thank you again, Fernando. Where is nLite still available in a working state, my experience on the URL nLiteos.com is, unfortunately, a bit less than satisfactory as I had indicated earlier.

Thank you, Fernando. With nLite no longer available, is there another way of adapting XP to a Sata controller, possibly the F6 method? I am not sure whether this approach might work.

Without going back into the past, I wonder whether you might check out the nLiteos.com web presence. The overall impression is one of an intruder at work and down[loading the nLite file on both an older desktop with a Biostar-NVIDIA motherboard and XP as well as with a new Dell N4110 laptop with Win 7 64 bit the nLite jumps frpm the storing of the copied OS to the "import" not "insert" page without any facility for browsing for the driver. Hello Fernando First I need to clarify an erroneous impression that I seem to have caused: I had not the least intention to appear critical of your writing. When I saw "updated" re an article that contained a multitude of specific controllers I assumed that the update included such to myself important detail, some of which cannot even be found currently on the originator`s internet presence, and I had no idea that it was limited to certain aspects. This particular topic may be straightforward to the well ersed, but is quite overwhelming to those that consider them no more knowledgeable than perhaps capable of logical thinking. Unfortunately, I have experienced so far nothing but failure with nLite, without, however the slightest notion of what went or I did wrong. This article was updated last on 04/05/2012, but does not mention an "Intel® Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI controller", which predates the update date. The driver file "32 bit Intel RST AHCI & Raid driver V11.1.0.1006 WHQL" has an extension `rar` and does not follow usual procedures for opening. Some elaboration may well be warranted. hmtjakob

Just for clarification: I wanted to test the XP SP3 CD on my desktop that was running XP, when I was told that the installation was blocked becuse the desktop had a newer version (updates having been kept up to date??)than the one coming from the CD. Going via My Computer and "setup" was some kind of last resort attempt. My starting point has always been your post "integration of Intel`s SATA AHCI....for Xp...Rate Topic" I did not have a problem placing a copy of the XP SP3 CD on either drive C or drive F on my notebook. Neither did downloading nLite cause me any problemm. Loading the XP SP3 installation into the nLite file seems to have always gone rather smoothly as indicated by the summary that nLite provided. However, obtaining the textmode driver(s) did not go so easy. Clicking on either of the two URL`s for 32 bit drivers under para 1a of your guide got me to a download option, which in turn allowed me to select between "run" and "save". I tend to go for "save" as that gives me the choice of destination for the download. In the last few attempts via the notebook opening the downloaded files gave me a mishmash of undecipherable characters and when I chose the "run" option I had to learn "C:\32 textmode drivers v9.5.6.1001 (or 1037) cannot find this file" As I indicated I do have a copy of a zipped file "32 bit Intel_textmode_driver_v8.9.0.1023" on the notebook that, when opened, shows a file "iaAHCI.inf" amongst other files and this iaAHCI files yields a legible text and a description Windows INF file for Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver. In practically all my previous attempts pointing to the driver file for nLite did not go as smoothly and left me with a feeling of uncertainty. As I had indicated before, the screen that your guide shows right after "2 Processing with nLite" did not show up. Thank you once more, Fernando 1, for your input. The BIOS on my notebook is/was set for the CD/DVD ROM drive as the first boot option with only the hdd as a second option. I had inserted the ISO DVD and upon "push any key to start from CD/DVD" the screen went black and after a while the vibration from the drive stopped. I have tried again to download the 1001 and 1037 version from your guide under Para 1a for 32 bit version. When I saved the download to either volume C or E the attempt to open the files resulted in a mixture of normal letter characters and some to me unknown characters. When I opted for the "run" download I was advised "C:\32 bit textmode drivers v9.5.6.1001 or 1037 cannot find this file" I have a copy of a zipped file "32 bit Intel_textmode_driver_v8.9.0.1023" that yields iaAHCI amongst other files, which when opened in turn results in text Windows INF File for Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver. I have no idea whether such a storage manager is needed by XP and avaible in the XP original CD.

Some additional info of possible intereswt/impact, even if perhaps not very palatable: I am running XP Home on a separate desktop. I have booted the desktop from both an older (SP1a) and a more recent (SP3) installation disk. Trying to install a new/cleqn version I was also advised "setup is blocked because the version on the pc is newer than.."

Hello once more, Fernando 1 It looks now as if I have made some progress or even success with the integration of the iaAHCI drivers. If I insert the eventual DVD and open it via "computer" and some in between screens the full option XP screen appears including the option "instal Windows XP". Clicking this option results in a screen "the setup is blocked because there is a newer version installeds" or some text to this effect. Perhaps I should try and install/open an OS on a second partition and format the first one and then try installation again. Perhaps you will offer some advice. Thank you, SpOiLedBrAt for your additional advice. I am not sure where to check for "txtsetup.oem" etc, although some of them appeared with the downloaded driver(s). I also have not been able to positively assert that my XP is the 32 bit verion. I am convinced that in my last attempt nLite did not capture the driver file iaAHCI.inf, although I had used the same files that resulted in failure because of invalid characters or too long file names. Hello again, Fernando For some background: This problem has vexed me ever since I purchased the HP G60-530CA notbook on 30 Oct.,2009. To me Windows 7 is simply an abonimation and completely unacceptable. I have created and formatted a new partition/volume and copied the XP installation disk,nLite, iaachi.inf and an empty folder "final CD" on a folder on this volume. Attempting to integrate the driver and create an ISO image,the integrating process appeared most briefly and then the finalizing screen opened. Burning the image to a DVD seemed doing ok, but when running "set up" there was no further action. I had checked on iaahci contents and did not notice any mention of my Intel chipset ich9M, although in earlier attempt a list of chipsets had come up and I was able to select ich9m. This time the insert screen only showed Intel PNP and some version numbers. Will you kindly provide some further guidance? Thank you hmtjakob

I have repeatedly tried to integrate SATA HDD drivers into Winows XP Home Ed for use in a recent HP notebook (G60-530CA) running Windows 7 Premium Home without success. The first attempts were on a desktop running Windows XP Home and the later ones were on the G60-530CA, all of them using nLite. The last ones on the notebook were terminated at the "finalizing" stage, when this message appeared: "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". Upon clicking "Debugging" the program shut down. Again in the last two attempts via notebook I had used an XP Home SP3 installation CD and opted for "integrate drivers" and "create ISO" only. The finalizing stage was interrupted by this statement:"The specified path, file name are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters. Please report this error, if it is unexpected. (No indication of to whom to report - I have sent a pertinent e-mail to <dino.nuhagic@gmail.com> without receiving any response whatsoever). Write your message in English and attach it to `last session.ini` if possible". Furthermore, I had tried to burn the installation CD copied to the notebook to a DVD via the HP Cyberlink program and was told that there were some files with too long namea and/or invalid characters. I am uncertain what the possible problem may be, but by some accounts on the forum some people have had success with nLite. Will you please offer some comment? Thank you Helmut JH
