  1. max, just suggestion, why not add change atribut command from robocopy in "Copy Seven DVD" in Se7en_UA? If we copy the source from DVD (which naturally the attribute file will be "read-only"), our copy will be read-only too n it make dism failed to mount the image (u fix that in the previous version, why u need to change that?).

    also max, u're right, slow performance in windows 7 installation in notebook becuz driver problem, after the driver updated, all normal n the performance just like I expected.

    also I need to add something, some registry tweak will failed too if we havent update our pc/notebook driver. (the registy succesfull imported, but when I check the regedit, the entry still empty, update the computer driver than the entry appear, magic?).

  2. This what worked for me on the U3 usb drives. I can instantly open them after disabling. Power users will want to disable the Sharing Wizard.

    Same as Tools, Folder Options, View, uncheck Use Sharing Wizard. Might need reboot

    ;41 Use Sharing Wizard - Disabled
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
    "SharingWizardOn"=dword:00000000

    thx max!

    eeergh almost forgot, I recently try using vmware, somehow the latest hotfix packages (x64) from Solor website have made the installation failed (the error message is : "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run.", restarted now give this error message "The computer restart unexpectedly or encountered an unexpecter error").

    Detail installation :

    1. DVD source : en_windows_7_ultimate_with_sp1_x64_dvd_u_677332.iso

    2. Hotfix package

    note : I'm tryin' to find out what caused this happen, I didn't include Se7en_UA log becuz it's not error from the aplication (test with only add silent installer n add that, no problem), but seem I've mess up integrating superseeded or hotfix that didn't fit for the OS itself, hmmmm...

    max, what logfile in the windows folder that record the installation process? it's in panther or ?

    edit: found out, member in MDL name chiperfx give me the clue, KB2506143 will break the installation, it should not integrated in the offline image.

    to all, if u want to integrate KB2506143, do in setupcmd (or u may installed with silent switches, dont INTEGRATED that in offline image).

  3. I'm looking for that tweak speed up Windows Explorer, had it applied and all was fine but reinstalled and it slow again. Forgot what I had done cause I was testing it.

    I'm talking about if I plug a U3 type usb drive in and go to explorer it takes awhile to load the drive

    yes max, seem windows explorer caused this notebook slow if my nephew do multitasking (an example browsing the web, makin' graphics with explorer open).

    I've used registry tweak from MDL also askvg source, but no luck. I'll try with the ati drivers as u suggested.

    thx max, but I do hope u can implement windows explorer tweak (if u do remember that offcourse).

  4. hi max & urie, is there any extra tweak to apply for notebook, here is the specs :

    Model type : Acer Aspire 4540

    Processor : AMD Turion II Dual Core Mobile Mobile M520

    RAM : DDR2 2048MB X 2 (4 GB) PC2-6400 (400 MHZ)

    Graphics : Ati Radeon HD 4200

    the problem actually is not with Se7en_UA itself becuz I have managed succesfull installing needed aplication also drivers n update package too, but seem the windows process perform slowly than I expected. It's different with using vista or XP with lot of aplication there(it's fresh install here).

    I do remember with ur tweaks in Vista_UA managed the performances very fast, but eeergh why this notebook cant work just like other?

    I'm sorry if this is out of topics with Se7en_UA, but since there's also tweak setting with ur programs, maybe u can tell me which tweaks I missed so I can add that in Se7en_UA? Or this notebook is not fit for Windows 7?

  5. Princektd, do u mean an automated patched resources file like restorator or 7tsp??? It's a good idea anyway, I usually replace the *.dll file manually, I dont know if some batch command will replace it automatically cuz there will be some permission setting we had to change (aka take ownership). Anyway, max, where I can find the registry tweaks file if I use Se7en_UA n the target OS r Windows 7? Before this I can find in OEM folder but I guess the DISM apply the registry tweak into *.hiv file at the process mounting image but not at the firstlog.cmd, right? (it's my opinion, please correct me if I'm wrong)

  6. I tried and it worked fine for my 50 .cab's except the WSUSSCAN.cab

    An error occurred trying to open - D:\Se7en_UA\HFixes\WSUSSCAN.cab Error: 0x80070002

    Processing 1 of 50 - Adding package Package_for_KB2032276~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.0

    Did you extract them correctly?

    I put all .msu same folder and done this with a .cmd. Extracting saved about 20MB

    Expand.exe D:\APPS\__Updates\7Seven\x64\Premium_Cab\*.msu –f:* D:\APPS\__Updates\7Seven\x64\Premium_Cab
    del *.xml
    del *.txt
    del *.msu
    pause

    ouch, my mistake, I test with ur previus version, didn't know there's the new version, ooh sorry max, it work fine here :thumbup

  7. Max, just some suggestion, can u change/update the hotfix section for windows 7 to see cab files (not just *.msu)? I've compile some update packages manually, for save some space I extract the cab n delete the msu files but if I want to integrate update with Se7en_UA it only see *.msu, it would be advantage to see Se7en_UA work for integrating update/hotfix in both files (*.msu n *.cab) so I dont have to do manually with DISM.

  8. i am trying to customize win7 ultimate. i have skipped drivers and applications. already had an autounattend.xml that i created using WAIK and i copied that over. added some windows updates, did the setupcomplete.cmd, cleanup.cmd and feature packages things. i am not adding modded files. now when i click finalize image and have selected compress, an admin cmd window pops up, the image mounts to zMountDir. it goes upto 100%, then waits for some time and then gives an error. the error message is:

    Error mounting image.

    Error: GLE = 216

    i tried the rightclick cleanup 1 and 2 on install.wim as well as boot.wim, deleted the zMountDir after exiting the app and then started se7en_UA again to recreate tht mount point, tried taking ownership of the mountpoint and such that came to my mind, but every time i try to finzlize, the same error pops up.

    on the other hand, i can use gimagex to mount install.wim to zMountDir in rw mode and that works successfully. please help.

    is there a way that i can mount the image using gimagex and then make se7en_UA do whatever processessing it needs to do on the image and then commit and unmount this image again using gimagex? what i mean is that if these processing is done using some cmd or bat file or script, can i edit the script to remove just this mounting part and then let the script run all the rest of the commands? that would give the same results...wont it?

    Sorry princektd, what host r u using? XP, vista, or 7? From what I know gimagex needed windows aik preinstalled, if u don't have waik then u have to copy the needed file in waik to ur gimagex folder. I dont know what version of Se7en_UA r u using but it happen to me when I use the v6.23 in vistasp1 x86 host, for the latest I dont have any problem with mounting/unmounting image.

    @For myselfidem, here's the test result for ur request.

    Host : XP SP3 x86, Onepiece 3.80 updatepack, Kell's Runtime v6.8 (integrated with ryanvm integrator v1.6)

    Target : Windows 7 Ultimate x86 (import single image from 5 image edition)

    Se7en_UA version : 6.29 (as ur request, not the latest)

    Update pack : Solor compiled update pack for windows 7 x86

    I dont know exactly what's ur problem for the blank display page in feature n package Se7en_UA, but when I try it's work fine, it's probably I've integrate my xp with update n runtime, what I remembered it needed ms xml 4 or 6 updated (I dont know exactly, but if u first time installed waik (1.1 or 2) ur ms xml will automatically updated).

    Regards (sorry for the late test, almost 1 month my kids is sick, so I've to wait n take care of him in hospital until he's fully recovered, sorry all!)

  9. @MaxXPsoft

    would it be usefull to beable to install reg files from different points in setup?

    Or is it already possiible? I've been reading the forum and the help files

    but couldn't see anything.

    I use the following reg file to setup auto logon

    Autologon.reg

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
    "AutoAdminLogon"="1"
    "DefaultUserName"="anAdministrator"
    "DefaultPassword"="password"

    I have it in my REGadd folder and it gets placed in cleadup.cmd.

    But it only works if its run from setupcomplete.cmd.

    Is there a way to make Se7en_UA put it there?

    Or If you have other ideas?

    I know one idea is for me to improve my memory so I don't forget to edit the cmd files!

    Thanks

    jbm

    Why r u using reg files when u can automate it via autounattend.xml in setting pass = oobesystem, like this

    <settings pass="oobeSystem">

    <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral"versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">

    </component>

    <AutoLogon>

    <Enabled>true</Enabled>

    <LogonCount>1</LogonCount>

    <Username>Administrator</Username>

    </AutoLogon>

    </component>

    </settings>

  10. U dont need to installed from DVD, what I mean windows DVD is ur windows installation source. Yes, the option to choose ur apps drive is made to be more flexible, the most important is appswitch.dat (u can edit it with ur own apps, then in first logon or audit cmd Se7en_UA will installed for u), by the way, u can test ur apps before u made ur final windows setup, so if anything goes wrong, u'll know it, right? What I know if our *.wim is larger then 4,5 GB, Se7en_UA will automatically ask to move ur apps into usb stick, check ur appswitch.dat. For more details we can wait max or urie to explain.

    Regards,

  11. I got this last message during my last run of Se7en_UA

    Whats the answer?

    Unless you are burning dual layer then this most likely won't fit on dvd. 4453 and it add's 80 mb or so when it writes so you exceed the 4.5 limit.

    I get around this since APPS folder can be on any drive including usb this way

    Right before you Burn just Delete the Se7enUA\uaDVD\APPS folder

    EDIT: Actually you can move that folder to another drive instead of delete. I have to do that everytime I go for full install since I don't have dual layer

    EDIT 2:1 more thing. Your original APPS folder is your complete backup to all your applications. It copies there as well as the uaDVD\APPS folder so on setup if it can see either it will give you choice of which to use.

    does that make sense?

    Yes it does. I got the message after adding a few more apps, but

    I was just testing it in vmware with an iso.

    I have an 8GB usb stick that I can use.

    Jbm, Se7en_UA was build to minimize size of ur windows image, but u can edit it manually by moving ur apps folder for temporary, after u finished with all those needed step, move it again to ur Se7en_UA folder (eg ur windows DVD), the most important appswitch.dat have ur apps listed otherwise it will failed after first logon cmd or audit user cmd depends on what u prefered for apps installer. Hope it help!

  12. I've used different variations of your imagex command. None of the variations I try are working. I can ran the setup from my computer, and I have recreated the image many times with no change. Is there a limit to the .wim size? I didn't think there was but using windows setup might mean something different. My .wim is the correct place, I've checked plenty of times.

    Please help!!

    Thanks Calboy.

    From what I've see in ur attachment I can assuming u're :

    1. Using Gimagex to capture ur windows installation, use imagex (non GUI) from WAIK, it's been an issue that gimagex is having trouble in xml specification (such as servicing stack etc).

    2. If u're using imagex, u've mistakenly set the flags of the image, for an example ULTIMATE, the command should be:

    "imagex /compress maximum /flags ULTIMATE /capture z: d:\install.wim "Your Image Name" "Your Image Description" /check /verify" or

    "imagex /compress maximum /flags "Ultimate" /capture z: d:\install.wim "Your Image Name" "Your Image Description" /check /verify"

    Note : "/check" n "/verify" it's usefull for wim integrity checking.

    3. If ur install.wim is bigger than 4 GB, use UDF for the DVD image.

  13. are you selecting the compress? I added that in as a pre cursor to removing stuff.

    Yups max, I've select compress image, have I remove something there? But what I remember I didn't remove anything, only repack image after I mount at zmountdir. The first image only reduce about 30-50 MB, but the 2nd image almost 500 MB, or is just becuz I export from the original Windows Vista SP2 so the image from install.wim haven't reduced (original size) ? Anyway, it doesn't matter, I enjoy it using my experimental windows, n everything work's fine, thx Max!

  14. Yupz Urie, it's worth when someone had dvd 9 the space will be used for goods n not wasted! Anyway, now I'm just notice that the 2nd image from the install.wim had shrink, n when I use Se7en_UA to integrate some apps n pack the image it gettin smaller, is it ok or I'm just screw up? Before I've exported the original size of the 2nd image is 3,98 GB but now the size is only 3,45 GB (after I packed with Se7en_UA)? I have test with vmware both image n everything's fine, so anyone can answer why is this happen? Max? Urie? It's normal right?

  15. Max, I've made unattended installation using Se7en_UA in dual layer image, the answer have been there so long, I haven't realize that, anyway I've attached my sample unattended xml, all u need is just copy part of the 2nd xml into the primary xml, enjoy everyone!!! :thumbup

    Autounattend.xml

    Sorry, I've forget to mention I'm using the built in administrator account,I've renamed it into my desired names using unattend.sdb in the security folder!

  16. h) Could you explain a little more of V2P and how to mount the image in z: In VMware

    Excuseme but from this point I do not understand anything, I run WAIK but I think in my case I can not put the same command

    "imagex / compress fast / check / flags "Ultimate" / capture z: d: \ install.wim "Windows 7 Ultimate" "Windows 7 Ultimeate x86"

    1st) who is z: and besides I have not d:> Could I write

    "imagex / compress fast / check / flags "Ultimate" / capture c: \ install.wim "Windows 7 Ultimate" "Windows 7 Ultimate amd64"

    I think u've mistakenly put some space in imagex command, the correct command is "imagex /compress fast /check /flags "ULTIMATE" /capture z: d:\install.wim "Your Name Image" "Your Description Image"

    If u want to mount virtual drive in vmware, u could check via windows explorer n point to ur vmware project folder, right click *.vmdk file n choose map virtual drive or u can use mapping virtual drive via vmware itself after point to ur project, right click n choose setting, choose ur drive setting n right click n choose map virtual drive, just be sure u map the right volume disk (if u've make 2 disk partition in the first setting).

    Hope it help u!

    Regards

  17. Max, I've forget to ask, does Se7en_UA support unattended installation in dual layer version (x86 n x64)? At the past someone have made a simple unattended with only product key n user name using vlite n it work well but yesterday my friends keep asking me if Se7en_UA support for installingg apps n drivers since the arch is different. Do they have to use some additional batch command?

    PS : Sorry if I represent my friends. They can't speak english n they stayed in prison, I was teaching computer there for free to help 'em for the future plan so they will live straight n have some computer knowledge, sorry again!

  18. Sorry computerguru, from what I've see its more like customizing 7 dvd rather than unattended installation. From what I've see u r using reverse integration methode just the same as integrating service pack into windows image without breakin' sysprep. Nothing personal, unattended installation more than just installing application during sysprep n then repack ur image.
