  1. great find, well keep it up and keep us post on your progress.
  2. Thanks for suggestion, however my ATI Decoder is not created with MSI but with InstallRite. I just tried uninstalling it myself it seem to be working, but I dont understand why it would appear dead? Well i'm stumped I'll try & see what I can do.
  3. could you explain what /q /o /r is for? I assumed q is for quiet, o is for overwrite if exist, r... ?
  4. sound sexy... would you like to arrange breeding for your rig and my rig? Just Kidding
  5. I guess no rebuttal from him? look like he had to swallow his pride, and his ego trip cost him a mistake. Here's words of advice, 1.) do more of excessive testing, and ask for beta tester before you can offically announce you've found a working solution 2.) read the thread closely see what've been already tried.
  6. dead link appear with mine? or other apps?
  7. I'm aware of this, and I've tried uninstalled it myself.
  8. you should be to able to upgrade without any issues. It's listed "ATI Decoder" in Add/Remove
  9. Back, and i have bad news... It doesnt work and i get error 1772 and it halt in middle of installing LiveUpdate.
  10. Your "Ego Trip" will cost you a mistake... just kidding. Well i'll have to give it a shot, and I'll post back my result.
  11. I couldn't have explain it better than this Unattended Guide: Bypassing Windows File Protection (SFC)
  12. well that really blow.... I guess I could use KillerBee's suggestion
  13. I'm thinking about extracting lusetup.exe and replace all of files in "SAV\CommonAppData\Symantec\LiveUpdate\LuMMInst" has anyone tired this? EDIT still waiting for prathapml on this one.
  14. just use makecab in cmd then drop'em in I386 folder. In case if you dont know how to use make cab. Command should look like this makecab tcpip.sys output should be tcpip.sy_ Be sure you disable SFC if you're using non-microsoft's hotfixes.
  15. regsnap very useful but be careful this things record garbage information such as BagMRU, and most recent use apps.
  16. I could do that whenever I get a chance, but i'll be quite busy for a while since i'm getting back to college.
  17. Most of third party DVD player come with it's own decoder (software rendering), ATI Decoder is not required unless you want to take advantage of Hardware Acceleration. ATI's DVD PLayer might require ATI Decoder. For Windows Media Player, I think you'll need to download plug-ins since Microsoft doesnt want to pay for Royalty fee on Licensing, or you can buy fullversion DVD player such as PowerDVD or WinDVD. For more information regarding with WMP can be found Here Personally I prefered to use ATI DVD Player or WinDVD over WMP. Usually PowerDVD and WinDVD come with plug-in for WMP. Word of advice, pls stay away from Real Player, and their format really need to die.
  18. your method using XCOPY will work, it basically does same way as my mini-installer by self-extracting files to system32 folder. The advantages for using my method, there's no need to copy entire folders thus saving fews Megabytes of spaces, the negative: taking little extras time during RunOnceEX, but Kaspin's will be detected during T-39, and copying Control Panel during RunOnceEx will be much quicker than mine. Bashrat's DriverPak should work same way as Kaspin's. Either use my method or Kaspin or Bashrat's DriverPak will work, I'll leave that up to reader to decide on which method workout the best for them. Considering this case is closed since we've solved the problems. Cheers!
  19. you should be able to uninstall using "add/remove programs" from control panel.
  20. I've had same problems, except it refused to install. Seem like it doesn't play well with silent install DAO-MDAC, and Decoder work fine for me except for MMC... at least just one apps to install by hand for now. Could it be bug or who know?
  21. Humm Strange last time I tried, doesn't work out for me. If it work for you then stick with it. By the way, do you put everything in there or just driver containing WDM? I'll try this TMW if I get a chance.
  22. I think it should look like this HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASPI32","ErrorControl",0x00010001,0x00000001 HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASPI32","Start",0x00010001,0x00000001 HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASPI32","Type",0x00010001,0x00000001 HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASPI32\Parameters","ExcludeMiniPorts",0x00000000,"" but correct me if i'm wrong.
  23. I've tried pointing it from winnt.sif's OemPnPDriversPath but it doesnt work that way, so I end up using silent install. OemPnPDriversPath is not required for this to work.
