  1. You are missing the files from the root of the XP install disc. Some of them are: WIN51 WIN51IP WIN51IP.SP2

    Weird problem

If you didn't make a backup of those files, you will have to download them again. Stephen
  3. The Windows Anytime Upgrade dvd has all the versions of Vista on it and Vlite will work with it. You'll need the Vista key on the sticker on the laptop to use it. Stephen
  4. A Win98 startup floppy disk is a good source for the boot files or www.bootdisk.com to get one. Read the setupxp.htm in the root of the XP install cd for instructions on how to run setup from the command prompt. I would add the command i386\winnt.exe to the end of the autoexec.bat file.
  5. It was easier back in the good ol' DOS days. One way of making a bootable usb thumbdrive: http://advancemame.sourceforge.net/boot-readme.html Also, HP has a program called: HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool.
  6. You need to make the usb stick bootable. Just copying files won't work.
  7. I have GetRight, but always had to use 'save link as' to bypass it. I have been able to download nlite prior to this release being posted. IE6 & FF2 via all available methods: either reloads the page or the exe downloaded is html file like above. The following didn't change a thing: clearing caches, disabling GetRight and FlashGot. Someone said to check my PM's. If they mean the inbox on this site, it's always been empty. Stephen
  8. Still won't download. Just goes right back the the download page or I just get an error file downloaded instead of the exe. Stephen
  9. So, how do you download it? I either get a referrer error or it just reloads the page with either IE6 or Firefox 2.0.0.1.

    Chipset Problems

Place all drivers directories under one directory and when inserting use 'multiple driver folder', select the directory you put them all under. It'll then prompt you to select the drivers you need. Stephen
  11. How about http://www.ie7.com Stephen
  12. The Vista license forbids any installation in virtual hardware or emulators. You can with Ultimate, but then you can't use any software that uses DRM. Also, you can only upgrade your pc once, then you have to buy another copy of Vista. Vista license: http://download.microsoft.com/documents/us...53f722371fa.pdf Stephen
  13. I am not a lawyer. Those programs should be legal to sell, just like any other program a person can create. The only part Microsoft owns is the OS and the updates. Selling a xpcreate version of XP would be illegal unless you get a license from Microsoft (for XP) and Greenmachine (for his program) to do so. Stephen
  14. Was the original windows cd copied correctly? Check to see if you can install using the CDSOURCE directory. Stephen
  15. The only times I've had read errors were due to a bad cd burn and once due to a bad memory module. For the bad cd, making another one using a lower burn speed cured it. Stephen
