I had a feeling you might be doing something like that - nice to get the confirmation that it is in fact the way forward I have my starting point ready to go now - a fresh XP x86 SP3 source on my WDS server with integrated textmode drivers for the VMware scsi controller (pretty sweet). I can already see after the first pass of Windows update on my guinea pig that your XP x64 list will indeed come in handy! Well that's enough of that for now, I think I've gone far enough off topic for one day... Thanks for the tip! (and of course for these guides! I've been using them for a while now, for my Win2K machine at home and my XP x64 machine at work )

Hey Kurt, How do you come up with your magical lists of which hotfixes to slipstream, which ones to RunOnce, which ones to delete, and most importantly what order you run them in? How do you know what changes to make each month? I'm trying to achieve the same thing for manually maintaining a RIS install share of XP x86, and I've googled my bum off here, but can't find anything even close to the comprehensive work of genius that is Kurt's UpdatePrep.bat (and the RunX_W2Ksp5.bat's)! Am I missing something? Is there some MS newsletter that I should be subscribing to? -databall
