  1. WAIK 2 is for 7 I thought. 1.1 is for vista. 1.1 was released in 2008, 2 was released in 2009 and 3 this month. WAIK 2 should have the wimmount.sys, that is what I have.
  2. Well I made my own reg tweak and only changed the visibility on all the packages and still got a winlogon error after install. I think it was 286 keys and I didn't delete anything.
  3. Has anyone else tried just applying the reg tweak and removing some packages from SP1? I tried and get errors after installing. Even if I don't remove any packages and apply just the tweak doesn't seem to work. Also there are 537 keys edited vs the 257 SP0. Does anyone know what that tweak is modifying in the registry or done a compare before and after?
  4. I tried this on x64 Ultimate and it didn't work either. I get the errors after install.
  5. This is my first contribution here so hope its useful. This is a chart similar to the 7packages that gives what to remove and what it will break. This is just a comparison of the new 7SP1 Ultimate to the original release. You can see they added some more packages and have more pending install by default. The highlighted ones are the pending install ones. So now I have a few questions. What does the pending install mean? Are these packages that can be safely deleted from the image? I didn't compare those to the 7packages.pdf yet. When removing a package how do you know what to delete from the winsxs that goes with the package so you can slim the image? SP0vsSP1.pdf
  6. Thanks 5eraph. That is what I was looking for. Now I just need to slim down XP. I have an old session from a few years ago I will try. If you don't use nLite, what do you use?
  7. Well it has been 2 yrs since I have had to make a XP install and not sure with all the stuff out there these days is the best way to go. Back then I used xable and was happy with it. I also included .net, ie7 at the time and wmp11. I have looked at the other threads here talking about the different packages out there and I have download -x-, xable and onepiece ie8. I haven't looked at onepiece AIO yet but I don't know which one out of all of these is the better way to go. I searched and didn't really see a good comparison. I did see some used GDR and others QFE, I thought GDR was better but I don't know about that. Can someone clear it up for me which is the best provider to use? I don't want to bash one over the other, just have a good nLited cd with the minimum stuff. Also, is there some good nlite session files to strip down XP. Sorry if this is a redundant question.
  8. I already did look at Ryan and Xable and needed a little more explanation. I am looking at the HF and that is extensive and think I can go from there. You also seem to sum up what needs to be done. Thanks for you help.
  9. Hi all, Im from Sunny San Diego and always need to rebuild by xp. Hoping I can learn how to make a lean mean machine.
  10. Hi all, I am just learning about this unattended stuff and have been reading all of the post here but cant find a good guide or tutorial on how to manually integrate a hotfix. I have looked at ryanvm, nlite, and even xable but want to know how these are integrated. I can see that you extract the KBxxxxxx.exe, put the .cat in svcpack, but after that then what? I noticed you have to add the registry stuff somewhere and then there is the .dll that seems to go into driver.cab or the root folder. I even looked at the home page of this site but it seems outdated and not detailed. Is there a link or post here that gets into the details? Thanks
