  1. I have been trying to find what would be in a good tool kit for low cost. A lot of the pre-made kits online feel like I'm paying more for the case then the tools, and a lot of the tools are cheaply made. If I make my tool kit, I will most likely go with tools from snap-on, Mac, ... , for the classic tools (drivers (already have), wire repair tools, ...). So here is what I an thinking of: Tools: driver with bits (nut, screw, torque, star, are any of the others needed?) Needle-nose pliers little 3 claw tool Soldering gun dikes What else? And spare computer parts: Cables ( CMAS Battery SDRAM IDE Drives (CD / Hard)
  2. Like I said, I can do it with JKDEFrag. Right now I am using a hiding admin account to run JKDEFrag. I am helping someone get their computer sicre, but they can not answer prompts (Can not read English well). So they are using windows firewall, and AVG. Their computer is on for a long time, and I don't want to many windows being left open on the hiding account.
  3. I have not been able to find a program that will do this. I want to trash some old cd-r, but I don't want to hurt my micawave, and I want to do more then crack a cd. I want to burn ever usable sector. An one know of a program to do this?
  4. Does anyone know a way to do system scans with out prompting the user. JKDEFrag does no prompt defrag. With it all i have to do is to have the task done in a hiding user account. Does anyone know how to do this will other apps? AVG, disk cleanup, ...
  5. While I'm installing windows I get a little bored. I have used programs that will run on 1st logon (GUIRunOnce, RunOnceEX), but you shoud be able to run some while in GUI-setup. Any one here know of any programs (games, writer's, music/movie players, ..) that will work in the later part of GUI-setup? (T-13) Or at the crippled T-39?
  6. Do you want to change the drive letters like: W: windows C: cd drive D: dvd dive r: rewrite drive If you mean it that was. You can use "MapDrive.cmd" ( http://www.msfn.org/board/Reassigning-driv....html&st=10 ) by calling it using "MT39" (http://www.msfn.org/board/tool-Run-multiple-programs-winntsif-t21521.html). MapDrive.cmd will remap the drives that way you want them. MT39 can be call at T-39 (the start of GUI-setup) to use MapDrive.cmd. Every thing after T-39 will use the new drive letters. Changing the windows drive letter maybe troublesome. You maybe able to set the windows partising to have 2 drive letters. or change all the file handles to the new letter. MapDrive also does not change letters of system vol, but I don't know if the vol has be set at system at t-39.
  7. Are you saying that you run the tweaks at T13 (svcpack.inf), or RunOnceEX that is at 1st logon? or some combo? I normal do HKCU tweaks at T12 (cmdlines.txt), to setup the default user. So, i don't know if anything is done beween T13, and T12.
  8. which AVG is it. free or pro?
  9. Just downloaded the latest of all the driver packs, and redid driver packing. It now has the files. I am going to do a VM install to see if txtsetup is working now. EDIT: Works
  10. I also am geting this probram. I don't have any of the 3 files or there cab form.
  11. I Downloaded the newest BASE. I run updatechecker it goes like normal, but the next time I run it. it del it self and says "windows cannot find 'UpdateChecker_v50811.cmd'". EDIT: ok, it is probly Get_update.cmd del'ing it, but why is it not replaseing it? (it says that it is up to date)
  12. I use the Run_ME.cmd that the driverpack makes. no mod. It looks like some time last night when I used RUN_ME.cmd, it did not see the winnt.old, so it would make a new winnt.old, but for some reson it did not copy winnt.sif into winnt.old. ?Next time RUN_ME.cmd was run it may have rcovered from winnt.old, resalting in what I got in my winnt.sif? That is all a good guess.
  13. I think I may found something. when I run RUN_ME.cmd, it says: _ original I386\*.sy_ driver files restored <because DriverPack MassStorage N/A> _ back-up of WINT.SIF recovered... it goes on like that. And if I chack the winnt.sif that that time both the winnt.sif and the back-up has been del, and only say: ;Generated by Bashrat the Sneaky's DriverPacks BASE The only thing that I have chaged is I got rid of some spaces that use to be in my flolder name (I never did have any probroms from you driverpack with the spaces). It use to be named "copy of TheRealDeal", now it is just "theRealDeal2".
  14. befor I used V5076 for the base, and what ever the sound was on the 20th. EDIT : I just unpacked v5076, and am retrying the slipstream with it.
  15. My winnt.sif turned from: ;SetupMgrTag [Data] MsDosInitiated = "No" AutoPartition=0 UnattendedInstall="Yes" [Unattended] NonDriverSigningPolicy = "Ignore" DriverSigningPolicy = "Ignore" OemPreinstall = "Yes" FileSystem=* UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes UnattendSwitch="yes" Hibernation=1 TargetPath=\WINDOWS ProgramFilesDir="E:\Program Files" CommonProgramFilesDir="E:\Program Files\Common Files" [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=this is NOT my password EncryptedAdminPassword=Yes OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=35 OemSkipWelcome=1 ProfilesDir="E:\Documents and Settings\" DetachedProgram="%systemdrive%\Install\DetachedProgram\mt39.exe" [UserData] ProductID= FullName="" OrgName="" ComputerName=Level1-XP-Sys1 [Display] BitsPerPel=16 Xresolution=800 YResolution=600 [TapiLocation] CountryCode=1 Dialing=Tone AreaCode=410 [Identification] JoinWorkgroup=Home [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=No [NetAdapters] Adapter1=params.Adapter1 [params.Adapter1] INFID=* [NetClients] MS_MSClient=params.MS_MSClient [NetProtocols] MS_TCPIP=params.MS_TCPIP [params.MS_TCPIP] DNS=Yes UseDomainNameDevolution=No EnableLMHosts=Yes AdapterSections=params.MS_TCPIP.Adapter1 [params.MS_TCPIP.Adapter1] SpecificTo=Adapter1 DHCP=Yes WINS=No NetBIOSOptions=0 [Components] msmsgs=off msnexplr=off [SetupParams] UserExecute = "%systemdrive%\install\install.cmd" [Shell] DefaultStartPanelOff = no DefaultThemesOff = Yes [GuiRunOnce] command7 = "%systemdrive%\install\setup.bat" command5 = "%systemdrive%\install\pagefile.bat" into this: [Data] MsDosInitiated = "No" [Unattended] OemPnPDriversPath = "...REMOVED..." NonDriverSigningPolicy = "Ignore" DriverSigningPolicy = "Ignore" OemPreinstall = "Yes" [GUIRunOnce] command9 = "%SystemDrive%\D\BTS_DPs_finish.cmd" I have not had this before. I just started using the new sound, and base pack.
  16. nope that is not working for me. I also tryed copying my winnt.sif, $OEM$, and SVCPACK.IN_ to a clean SP2 CD. Then ran Bâshrat's driverpack. It still comes up. In GUIsetup what does it ask before asking about the computer name? Maybe something that comes before the Computer name qusten is massing it up. Do you want me to repost what my winnt.sif looks like now? If yes, edit it at the top, or just repost?
  17. Tryed ComputerName=*, it did not work.
  18. my password is not "this is NOT my password". I just put that in here like I put in ProductID=allyo-urbas-esare-belong-tous. To cover up my Encrypted password (not that it would be ez for someone to find out the password with it).
  19. Useing XP Home with a big famly has granted my many days of hard ship. People coming to me all day asking to use admin so they can use the computer. An limited user does not have the power normal people need. I would like to add people as Power Users.I know that I don't have gpedit.msc, and PowerUsers are not in XP Home. I was thinking that maybe one could use Net localgroup, cacls, and security templates to do this. Has anyone tryed this? P.S: don't say "why did you get XP Home, and not Pro?" I got XP Home for free, I would have had to pay full price for Pro.
  20. burp... anyone have a idea why it would do this?
  21. change the administrator name with buildIn. You can find info about BuilIn here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...%20guests&st=50
  22. When I use the regtweaks, buth in an unattended install and inside windows, every few minutes the little triangle pops up in the tray saying that a file is corrupt and unreadable. This goes on till I no longer can use the computer. also, some partitions become corrupt and unreadable. can someone file the tweak that is corrupting files? 23. So you don't want to be able to logon to the computer local as an admin? Last time I worked at on a network setup. We got one computer setup the way we needed it, then sysprep it. We ghosted it onto all the computer in the network, then started the mini-setup. We needed to be able to logon local. Some of our programs needed to be turned off to take their licenses.
  24. nope, puting it in quotes does not help. anyone have any idears what would did this?
