how big is ur installed xp? coss I have an nLited of 200mb and boot starting from the first sign of the windows logo is like 20sec. And I just have a athlon xp 2400+ with a sata drive... not a 3.4ghz intel with a 10.000rpm disk So u have or a bigger windows, or slower pc.... ooorrr u leave in task schedular, coss it contains the prefetch component.. so maybe when I dont use task schedular.. I scrape like 10sec of boottime. Can you test disabling taskschedular and event log?

They just keep on deleting threads dont they XD Anyway did u read my last post in the thread? about my m8 saying to switch the prefetcher=0 after u launched all games and applications. That way u dont have the cachemanager checkin stuff to prefetch during boot = fast boot. But traces are used because the using of traces is always on.

The quick 1.8 update was because I had certain mp3's who where encoded in "Secure-mode" or something, and my m8 corone found a parser who could also play that thnx ^^ btw, people who download n use this, u know u can post a lil thnk u

gdogg, if you're not already aware of it, this may be of use to you as well... UPX. i started compressing FF and TB exe's/dll's and noticed a significant decrease in load times, plus the space savings. you just have to be careful what switches you use. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Dude, if u wanna open an upx compressed exe, the loadtime isnt faster, coss it hass to decompress the exe first, and then launch it... Check their website.

redhouse, boldfortune's way is good.. but I want more functionality then him.. but I want to have less then 200mb.. so bolds guide is good.. but not perfect.. we r tryin to erase more and to make a comparison with inventing the wheel... every install is different coss of wot u install, and wot u need.. so bold can remove a file that u want to keep.. I understand ur a big fan of bold, me too.. but it aint bad to taste a llil bit of the nLiters ^^

I just use cmdlines.txt and in there I call regtweaks.reg. and my cleanupfile.. I just launch it manually dont know exactly...codepages for various fonts and stuff, anyway some websites get messed up if u delete them

just wnna give u some credit here n there but allrighty, will make everything look like I did it will remake start post tommorow, it now looks like a testing cleanup post, it will be an how to make a nLite with cleanup then ofcourse u have to keep net.exe cause otherwise u cant do that

well more like Pro's with problems newbies should stick with nLite (no offence people, but this if u do this, ur bound to experience loads of errors) and I think dirtwarrior wants to see the oemfolder and thats pretty much it... it isnt bigger.. I manually do my cleanup, dont have extra programs, dont use minlogon

The Making makin cd atm, just copied files to XPCD directory starting nLite choosing the directory thickin all options, except for slipstreaming a servicepack, coss I use xp pro with sp2 slipstreamed Now at hotfix point, adding: RVMUpdatepack1.2.2Lite XPize uAE (v1.2) At driver point: The NVIDIA chipset drivers. The Marvel network card drivers. My sata driver (text mode). Then some tweaks, important ones: do not parse autoexec.bat dont page kernel dont precache Installing and Analizing Made ISO, put disk.sys in my i386 (somehow nLite doesnt do that) and went installing. There were some quite file not found errors during install, also in windows. Internet Explorer didnt function properly, MSN wouldnt start. HELP OMFG WTF DONT U HAVE MSN CLINT? anyway , couldnt get defrag software to work and printerspool service was also gone. also some stuff I needed for webcam was gone. So I went to the remove files list of clint's nlite.ini to check if I had to keep files. Luckely I know wot most files do so I took about 25 files away needed for: internet explorer defrag software msn webcam printers network browsing on lanparties ;P The Conclusion Now after 2 installs I can run all of my tried programs. Everything seems ok with the printer service and imaging service, though I dont have a printer here, and I wont go through the trouble to get my webcam workin in virtual pc. So the next thing i will do is make one final iso for testing in virtual pc. Just to make sure. And then I willburn that iso, format and go live with that cd. ^_^ difference between his cleanup/pre-removal and my cleanup is.. about 80% wot I remove is the same has he removed.. but where I stopped with unknown files, he went on n just backupped them incase he needed them. I was gonna do the same thing but lil more carefull. with "last acces time-stamp" I was gonna check after 2 weeks of using programs n stuff, wot windows aint using. but he did it the hardway my nLite brought own xp install down to 290mb, and with stuff of my own, to 224mb... this is with IE, with printers, with dhcp, with imaging stuff. with my nLite but preremoval from clints ini, my xp install got 274mb.. then with a combined removal of my cleanups and his cleanups it went down to 200mb quite a record since i use a LOT of programs (n games), and i need a LOT of dependencies. in the attachments u see: *my settings from nLite *my regtweaks, to be used at T12 just like clints, with the $OEM folder way *1 cleanup file, mine and clints merged there were no files I removed from the cleanup files exept for the ones that werent there when I had a fresh install, apearently nLite removed those. ps: Oh yeah, feels good to be back in action ^^ Last_Session.ini RegTweaks.reg cleanup.cmd
