  1. i dont think your cpu is 64bit and therefore you wont be able to run xp64 while your freind is correct in that xp64 can use more ram this is on systems where the total ram including gfx cards adds up to over 4gig and windows xp 32 will only be able to see about 3.2gig of your ram however since you have 2 gig of ram windows xp 32 will see all of it so you will have no problem there to your other question windows xp 64 will be able to run all the apps you have already as well as 64 bit versions while it is better to run the 64bit version if you have it the 32bit one will run fine *edit ignore my post im not used to the tree like reply system of this forum and never seen the previous replys
  2. as subject i upgraded my hardware and moved to xp64 i already had an autoinstall dvd for 32bit xp made so copied over the revelant reg files, oem folder etc however the problem is that i would like to find out the i386 program files folder since the progs$ copies all the programs contained within to the 64bit program files folder whether they are 64bit or not. while not a major problem in the interest of tidyness and knowing what programs are 64bit or not can anyone help me figure out the revelent folder name? ive tried progs(i386)$
  3. have tried the makecab method should have said that sorry. there are no media issues as at this stage im using an iso file and vmware i had assumed wfp was off as i also copied the sfc_os etc files from my current install (again used makecab) perhaps they are not off after all but i have no issues on either my current install or testing iso with and other protected files such as uxtheme etc the only real need to modify logonui is simply asthetics, isnt that the reason we all do it? the file does copy across correctly and my modified logon screen is used as default i jsut wish to avoid the install needing my intervention to continue
  4. as subject im currently updating my old autoinstall dvd quite basic just a few commonly used things installed as extras now what i want to do is add my custom logonui.exe to my dvd, this works with limited success the file is copied into the install and is there as the actual logon screen however during the inital file copy process when windows in installing it throws up an error minor i know but annoying as the only time i want interuptions in the proccess is to select the partition to install to i have sucessfully got a custom theme to autoinstall jsut this minor niggle to conquer before i try to include office and adobe things any help greatly appreciated
  5. as subject, im trying to setup an automated install of windows 2003 server the autoinstall works for the most part in that it installs windows with no user intervention needed apart from selecting the initial partition (the way i like it) the problem being that the $oem$ folder seems to be bypassed every time i install, im using vmware for testing at the min. the oem folder is a direct copy from my windows xp version and works fine on that image ultra iso is used for image manipulation. can anyone shed light on this?
