  1. thats what i am wanting to know. does the above quote hold true with the new X2 i read somewhere that it was fine but i cant find it anymore. I have ASUS A8V - 1014 bios (the newest non beta) so theres no issue there. it will detect the chip no probs but i plan on having 2 slots with 512 2 slots with 1024 of RAM so i will have 3072 RAM
  2. AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16819103546 Can anybody confirm that this cpu does not suffer the RAM problem when using 4 sticks?
  3. ok so here is the mission. I Have serveral hard drives and I am after a way to delete the boot sector on all of them. not write a new one but remove them all. so that when i install windows next i only have one boot sector. basically its become a real nightmare as when I have an install issue im not really sure which drive has the valid sector. i think there is even one with LILO on it. i am aware of the command fixboot and fixmbr but you cant control which drive is being changed - as far as i can see. and the method must not destroy data on the disk(except the boot sector)
  4. indeed there is as with all reg editing make a back up first no liablity etc etc http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/1051/
  5. I finished single player last night really enjoyed it. starts off easy then gets much harder - nearly impossible near the end. Sure the game will play on old gfx cards, but you have to turn all the eye candy off. if you going to do that try wolf3d .
  6. re your ping issues does this occur during the early morning internet and email check or is this anytime of the day? if it doesnt matter sounds like you may have issues with hardware. faulty cable somewhere. interference from something with the lan cable. does this happen no matter which pc you ping? and no matter from what pc you ping the others? I also suggest an application like http://www.ethereal.com/ to look at the packets on your network.
  7. im sure windows xp has this built into it Double flick on the clock in the task bar and click on the third tab and press update. not sure has accurate this is though.
  8. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=66 would be a more appropriate forum to post it in i think The Developers Center > Programming (C++, Delphi, VB, etc.) which language are you wanting to write this in? or do you just want a mathmatical formula? http://sciris.shu.edu/~borowski/Truth/ that site may or maynot help:S has source code as well
  9. im not sure there are any do a windows update while in 64 bit to check also look in add remove programs (make sure u tick the updates box) that page is there i guess for future use - but works well for 32 bit. so more of a question of does 64 bit have any hot fixes issued

  12. Ok i don't have Digital nor do i have cable but this is how i do it using good school antena which works: 1: ok open up WinFast PVR 2: click on configuration (its the button that kinda looks liek a spaner just to the left of the + and - 3: then when the next window opens click on the third tab 4: choose your area (USA i assume) 5: then where it says tv source leave it as cable 6: click the auto fine tune button 7: click scan channels it will then hopefully add 73 stations (if theres more than this i have no idea what to do) if you want to get really fussy double click on the station in the right pane this should show u the station just above the scan channels button then rigth click on the channel go to edit channel and change it to the correct name instead of being channel 1 takes hope this helps Mentalinc

  15. Thank you XtremeMaC and jdoe Works great Echo. ECHO opening up explorer to USB IF EXIST E:\autorun.inf (Explorer E:) IF EXIST E:\autorun.inf (E:\apps\cmdow.exe "My Computer" /CLS) IF EXIST X:\autorun.inf (Explorer X:) IF EXIST X:\autorun.inf (X:\apps\cmdow.exe "My Computer" /CLS) E: at home will never have a autorun.inf as it is a storage drive not cdrom. If anyone has a even better solution for example build on XtremeMaC idea of %computername% (note this does NOT work) remebering will be used on a somewhat controlled system eg no reg edits allowed , then feel free as im sure there will be more people wanting to do this as time goes by. note:. X:\ is what the drive is called (at home) and is not a random variable. Thanks Mentalindustires
  16. OK i have a little problem here. no its not part of my unattended install, but i figure this is where most of the batch file people will be and have the most knowledge. I have created an autorun.inf for my usb flash disk. so when ever i double click on it from my computer it will run a small batch file to Synchronize my hard drive files to my flash drive files at home or at uni, depening where i am. then finnaly so i don;t have to right click on the drive I have added explorer X: explorer E: As the last to lines. However id like to close the "explorer E:" window when im at home. (e: is what is is called at uni, while i have ity set as x at home) I have tried taskkill /f /FI "windowtitle eq ISO*" But that seems to do nothing Does anybody know how i can close that window, title ISO as well as My Computer Thanks Mentalindustries

  19. another possible option is do u have a 3rd party firewall installed on the computers? if so u will need to let them access the others create a rule allowing all protocols in the 192.168.1.xxx range (or if u have ip auto set up look at the DCHP on your router and specify the range it indicatses but add a few more in case of LAN or more puters comming)
  20. have u clicked on teh examples pictures to see which pic best discribes your situation?
