Has there been any information regarding when SP2 will be released to the public? This whole SP2-won't-install-issue tempts me to just forget about tweaking with vLite. But if it's like 8-10 month away, I probably will have reinstalled by then anyway.
  2. Now I installed the full WAIK, reinstalled vLite and uninstalled avast. Now it works. The problem now is that I have no way of finding out what really was the problem.
  3. Ok, I'll try that. By the way, I just remembered something. Last time when I slipstreamed, I installed the whole WAIK thingy. This time I only downloaded the files I really need. Could that be a problem? I found this in the dump file: Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\ntoskrnl.exe, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for ntoskrnl.exe Could that be the issue?
  4. Yeah I can try, but it was on when I slipstreamed the first time as well.
  5. Hi, I tried to vLite my vista business x64. I ended up removing to much and couldn't get my network connection working. I installed a clean untouched Vista and wanted to make another iso. When I now try to slipstream I almost immediately after clicking "run file" get a BSOD. I've tried recopying the files from the vista iso (which is legal, I got it from my uni) and redownloading the SP1 installer. I also tried doing the slipstreaming on another harddrive. Nothing helped. The memdump from the latest BSOD is here. Help?

    Performance gain

It's time for me to do a clean install of Vista and this time I want to try to vLite it. Hard drive space for me is not an issue, but what I really am after is a faster Vista, not necessarily a smaller one (although I suspect these two go pretty much hand in hand). I am abit skeptical of the whole process, because it seems to cause some trouble with failing updates and such, but it appears if you slipstream SP1 there shouldn't be any major problems. What components affect the performance if Vista with any significance that can be removed? I've also gotten the impression that no components whatsoever should be removed if the plan is to slipstream SP1. But isn't this just before the slipstream and not after? Thanks.
