  1. After doing an unattended installation, Internet Explorer won't search correctly from the address bar. I haven't modified any registry settings to change this (but I did add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CabinetState\FullPathAddress). Is this registry setting responsible? Is it another setting? Is this caused by the Internet Explorer hotfixes that run before Windows XP actually shows the desktop icons for the first time? Even adding the correct Google URL in other places (like HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchUrl) doesn't fix it. Please help
  2. That doesn't work, but your previous suggestion to do rename and then delete did work. Very strange. Manually entering %% for the percent sign in the file name (on the command line) produces errors, even, saying the file cannot be found.
  3. It depends on the application's installer. Most things that run in silent mode don't let you choose the installation directory. Exceptions are the big, major programs like Microsoft Office. You can try running the setup.exe for the program with /r and seeing if a setup.iss file is created. If so, it should contain the settings you used to install the program (including the directory).
  4. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm getting a weird "ghost" item appearing in Control Panel after an unattended install. It cannot be deleted and it never goes away.
  5. Actually, it is NOT the same as type 1 packages. You need to use -q -o -z instead of /Q /O /Z.
  6. No, using /s does nothing. It silently fails.
  7. Download: ShrinkPlus!.zip (4.44 KB) This installs everything except the "Digital Media" category. I was able to shrink Plus! down to 165 MB, so it fits nicely with Windows XP itself. If you delete anything besides what my batch file modifies, your installation will fail! If you need a more compact Plus!, you can use the Custom Installation Wizard program from the Office 2003 Resource Kit Tools to make another transform file. BTW, maybe this could be mentioned on the site under Applications?
  8. How can I delete a link with a % sign in the file name? I want to remove %AllUsersProfile%\Desktop\Alcohol 120%.lnk, but I cannot seem to do this. Running DEL "%AllUsersProfile%\Desktop\Alcohol 120%.lnk" manually from the command line works, but executing it in a .cmd file doesn't remove the icon.
  9. How? There is no setup.exe or anything, there is only setup.msi. I made a transform file, but I have no way to apply it. Running "setup.msi TRANSFORMS=Plus.MST" just shows a dialog saying "Invalid command line options".
  10. (a solution has been found) Download: ShrinkPlus!.zip (4.44 KB)
  11. Try http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/runonceex.htm
  12. Yeah your CD is probably scratched/dirty. Try Windex on it, spray the disc and wipe from the inside out with a paper towel.
  13. chkntfs /C C: Will cause Windows to schedule a disk check for drive C: at the next boot time.
  14. Just use Microsoft's qchain.exe utility, even if you install them in numerical order.
