notice- I do have used the NAR application (published here).. removed every single application, to remain only with Nero Burner (the base product), also removed every LAN. (keeping only english). the result do got a lot smaller (about 100 MB), post factum: seems that the install just got corrupted by NAR: 1. task manager showed setupx and the compressed sfx file for couple of minutes but no files were installed on the computer, nor registry values were writen at the end of the process. 2. the single exe didn't work so I've deCompressed everything to a folder and run the command line for setupx by hand, the removal of the "/q" let me notice that indeed the setup process is running the the product of nero is installed, somehow the result (even when I keep looking and monitoring the process were still a corrupted installation). in my opinion the AUTOIT script of NAR should be updated to those values... (latest version) or, some products should not be removed by the user cause those are crucial the the whole process, pity... perhaps anyone has idea about a products that should remain in order the installation process to succeed. FYI everyone this is the RAW xml from the setupx execute file, it starts approximately at 33C7E6, you don't actually have to you a HEX-editor, you can simply open setupx.exe with Notepad2.0 (not although this post is back from 2006, it is common question. using desktop.ini can be very easy way to custom folder, but the first step is making windows create a desktop.ini file for you (create manually will not work): right click a folder. choose 'properties'. go to 'customize' tab. click 'change icon'. select any icon, it has no meaning for us right now.. click OK in the icon selection dialog. click OK in the properties dialog. dbl. click the folder. make sure hidden files and system files are visible (look into folder options in control-panel). depending hidden files are visible you now able to see a file named desktop.ini dbl. click (open it), the inner format is something like that: [.ShellClassInfo] IconFile=%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll IconIndex=9 this content is not important, press CTRL+A to select everything and DELETE, so the file will be empty. copy paste this to the empty file: [{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}] Attributes=1 IconArea_Image=.\Untitled.gif IconArea_Text=0x00000000 note to change the .\Untitled.gif to something actually exist in your folder (could be sub folders or any other location too...). gif files are recommended cause there are quite slim, and lightweight. jpg, bmp work very well too, but not so recommended. the last line informs explorer what should the text color would be, this is hex color value- 0x0 is black, 0x000000FF is red, 0x00FF0000 is blue, 0x0000FF00 is green the new background and colors will be updated when ever you close and reopen the folder.

yep! tested it last night, definitely Corrupting the identification system... i've update every other execute, bin and dll though, to latest version as supplied by manufacturers. seems to work slightly better since some unpackers were going out with new threads-supported-execute.. (not upx though..) the upx in the original pack was a 32 dos version.. i've changed it to the upx 32-windows console version... (you can see http://upx.sourceforge.net for more details about diffrence between the versions) I'm presuming when your talking about 1.6, your talking the release version (?) because 1.6 is avilable for download for some time.. not final version.. but since uniExtract is kind of a script program.. working with outside actual exe.. i'm guessing this is not realy matter.. since if the command-line arguments are no diffrent from version to version in the external execute the is no realy a reason to update anyway..

love that program ! have a couple of questions though- • does updating the TrID def. file- from the TrID official web site interfere with natural uniExtract behavior ? • same question about updating the PEiD (PE iDentifier) execute... also(not a question...) • I wish to translate a hebrew lang. file, for the Hebrew readers community, does such a translation already exist? , (if not, how does translation can made?) • if you wish to get help for updating scripts of program, I'm more then willing to participate.
