Yeah, I could probably use commands, but it makes it so much easier to maintain and update if it is all contained in one batch. I played with RunOnce and the RunOnce creator tool, but it requires additional batches to run my cleanups. One batch file, plain and simple, is my preferred method. This way, I don't have to justify adding a third video card and monitor on my development box just so that I can view all the open windows Thanks to everyone for the input and suggestions.

I should explain the line in my BATCH to copy the contents of the ICONS folder. To keep everything nice and clean, my batch deletes all of the StarMenu \ Programs directories, then copies whatever is in the ICONS folder over to c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs. This way, I only need to maintain that one location and I don't have to go through and delete a bunch of useless README and VISIT OUR WEBSITE shortcuts line by line. I just flush out everything and drop what I want in there.

When I install WinRAR 3.0 and Quicktime 6.5.1 from my unattended batch, they both open up their "c:\documents and settings\all users\programs" windows. Is there a command that I could slip into my batch immediately after the program is installed that would close those windows? Thanks

True, extracting it almost triples the size, but I prefer to have that space taken up on the CD, not my temp folders on C:

Good news boys, I JUST tested this on 2 September with the new version of MP10 (build 3646) and I got it working with the following: Using WinRAR 2.8, extract all files to a WMP10 directory on my unattended CD. Run the following line in my run once batch start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Apps\WMP10\SETUP_wm.exe /Q:A /R:N /P:#e It works perfectly fine, no problems. Merry Christmas, hope that helps!!!

I can get the install to work, but it pops up the Start Menu \ Programs \ WinRAR windows after the silent install. Is there any way to keep that from happening? I am leaving it out of my UA CD because of this. I cannot use 3.3 because I have a valid license for 2.8 and I prefer to stay a couple of steps behind anyway.

FYI - I was at the OEM System Builders Roadshow last week, and they did confirm 21 July is the scheduled RTM date.

Okay, apparently I am a crackhead or something. I successfully reach my share point to start the install but when I run the attached batch, I get to the blue setup screen and it immediately tells me that it does not have a HDD with enough free space. I have manually booted to DOS and eradicated any partitions but my question is, if it is saying this, does that mean it doesn't see the answer file or something? It is named winnt.sif and is located in the i386 mentioned in the batch.

Quasi-poll here, what does everyone think of WMP10 RC1 so far?

I am referring to the 6 effects listed under display properties \ appearance \ effects. See the screenshot. I guess the biggest one that bugs me is the transition feature.

I know that sounds anal, but I want to keep XP Unattended from automatically using "Local Area Connection". Most of the workstations I build have one NIC and if it were maybe something like On Board LAN Card or similar it would be less M$ in my eyes. I know that you can rename a NIC in the registry (HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Control\Network), but it is usually specific to that one device. Is there a regkey that I could import during the GUI setup or maybe something in the hive*.inf files located on i386 of the CD contents? Thanks. I know I being anal, but that is how I deliver a quality product PEACE!!!

Thanks for the fast reply, unfortunately I think that covers the 15 or 20 visual effects that you can get to by going to My Computer \ Properties \ Advanced \ Visual Effects. I am talking about the effects such as fade-in and fade-out on right click, etc. Any ideas, or did I maybe just not see it in that link you sent?

First off, I know this pic is from W2K, it is what I use at work. My question is, what line or registry key to I insert in unattended reg keys to turn off these stupid desktop effects in Windows XP. I would prefer to disable them in the registry as that is where the rest of my customizations are happeneing. They are annoying resource hogs. I cannot seem to find any posts on this as of yet. Plllllllllllllllllllllease hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhelp!!!! PEACE!
