  1. thx for the genuine-links ! - great help... but does anybody know, if they are language specific ?? would need german. thx for infos on that. ander
  2. @ incroyable hulk thanks for your immediate response & your hint: the /desintegrate: switch worked perfect for me. hihi. so, it's manually "work" to do. i thought integrating hotfixes is a bit like "slipstreaming" instead of the way i do it til now: i add the KBxxxxxx.exe files to the svcpack-folder & add those entries in my svcpack.inf file under: [SetupHotfixesToRun] KBxxxxxx.exe /u /n /z hm? btw: is it necessary to order the kbxxxxxx files in a special way ??? (lookin' forward to your next joke)
  3. @ incroyable hulk first: thank you very, very much for initiating this page and keeping it up-to-date, i really appreciate & prefer this "sticky" the windows-update page..... @ all wizzards as i'm not that familiar til now with the integrate option, i want to ask: if i integrate hotfixes to my unattended windows prof cd (i already integrated sp2), what happens if for example hotfixes already integrated become "obsolet" because of newer hotfixes ??? (like the removed KB890047 & KB867282) do i have to rebuild my cd ? thx for any comments.
  4. yepp, it was listed as critical.... as i'm still building and "trying" my cd, i let u know, if it happens again.
  5. @hulk thx very much for opening & workin' on this great thread, i appreciate your uptodate list very much !!! preparing my last w2k (sp4) unattended install-cd I could get rid of some hotfixes, i didn't knew that they aren't necessary anymore.... (like the blaster hotfix for example) today i installed my system fresh & new with all your listed hotfixes, but windows update still offered one critical update for installation: KB867801 Download Link for W2K (English) it's a ie6 service pack update.... as i don't think that u "missed" that one, or nobody else figured this out - maybe it's my configuration anyway ??? my cd installs: W2K (SP4 integrated), IE6, DirectxC, WMP9, MS Journal Viewer (incl. Patch JV886179), NET Framework (incl Patch FR867460) hm.....
  6. hi everybody, while lookin in the forum for "a solution" i found this thread - i'm also preparing an cd for automated hotfix installations - and hope u could enlighten me... is there a possibility to check if an hotfix is already installed, before installing it again ? well, i would like to add "every patch-day" the necessary hotfixes to my cd and it would be great, if i don't have to care, if some of them are already installed on the system(s). and, if running in runonce, wouldn't it be necessary to add: REG ADD %KEY%\295 /VE /D "Verifying....." /f REG ADD %KEY%\295 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\qchain.exe" /f at the end ? help would be appreciated, happy happy new year to this great forum!! - here in austria last day of the year just started.....
  7. [bM]Crusher: Thx for your response & your help..... I did read the article at microsoft.com, but was a little confused because of the Guide at: http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/installhotfixes.htm: It mentions the important use of qchain.exe by installation with svcpack.inf: [Version] Signature="$Windows NT$" MajorVersion=5 MinorVersion=1 BuildNumber=2600 [SetupData] CatalogSubDir="\i386\Update" [ProductCatalogsToInstall] [SetupHotfixesToRun] Q330994.exe /Q:A /R:N Q819696.exe /Q /O /N /Z KB824146.exe /Q /O /N /Z qchain.exe but doesn't "seem" to be necessary by installation using hotfixes.cmd installed during RunOnce: @echo off ECHO. ECHO Installing Q817787 for Windows Media Player 8 start /wait %systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\Q817787.EXE /Q:A /R:N ECHO. ECHO Installing Q832483 Buffer overrun in an MDAC function could allow code execution start /wait %systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\ENG_Q832483_MDAC_X86.EXE /C:"dahotfix.exe /q /n" /q ECHO. ECHO Installing Q817778 Advanced Networking Pack start /wait %systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\Q817778.exe /Q /O /N /Z EXIT But obviously I'm the only one, who was a bit confused, because nobody asked this before in the forum.....
  8. Still no comments or experiences with this ?
  9. GreenMachine: Thank you very much for explaining, I know what to do now !!! Stay Unplugged or Slipstream Prepared
  10. thx for your comments and thoughts.... I was getting a bit nervous during watching the unattended installation and the data-light of my external network-usb device started "blinking" before all hotfixes have been installed. (Sorry, I also forgot to explain that my hotfixes are installed during RunOnceEx.Cmd) [bM]Crusher: It's a W2K (SP4) installation & I think there will be NO Service Pack 5 ?!
  11. I got a workin' unattended W2K-CD, thanks to all those guides & infos.... But I'm wondering, if it's necessary to disconnect the network/internet connection-cable during installation, because: Installing Windows and all hardware drivers, including my network-card, I think the internet connection could be "open" and of course dangerous, before all the hotfixes are installed ?
  12. Hi, as I'm not sure & couldn't find an answer in the forum, here's my question: I install W2K unattended (included service pack 4) and run my hotfixes with RunOnceEx.Cmd: cmdow @ /HID @echo off SET KEY= HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx REG ADD %KEY% /V TITLE /D "Installiere Anwendungen und Updates" /f REG ADD %KEY%\001 /VE /D "basierend auf Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\002 /VE /D "Installing Tweak Utilities" /f REG ADD %KEY%\002 /V 1 /D "%SystemRoot%\System32\rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %systemdrive%\INSTALL\Tweak\tweakui.inf" /f REG ADD %KEY%\003 /VE /D "Autologon" /f REG ADD %KEY%\003 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\AutoLogon.cmd" /f REG ADD %KEY%\004 /VE /D "Hotfix KB814078 /Q (JAVASCRIPT 5.6)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\004 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\js56nde.exe /Q" /f REG ADD %KEY%\005 /VE /D "Internet Explorer 6 (Reboot necessary)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\005 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\ie6\ie6setup.exe /Q" /f REG ADD %KEY%\115 /VE /D "Windows Mediaplayer 9" /f REG ADD %KEY%\115 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\WMP9\W2KM9.exe /Q:A /R:N" /f REG ADD %KEY%\120 /VE /D "Hotfix KB823980 (Blaster)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\120 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\KB823980.EXE -u -n -z" /f REG ADD %KEY%\121 /VE /D "Hotfix KB835732 (Sasser)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\121 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\KB835732.EXE -u -n -z" /f REG ADD %KEY%\122 /VE /D "Hotfix KB837001 (Remote Zugriff)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\122 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\KB837001.EXE -u -n -z" /f REG ADD %KEY%\123 /VE /D "Hotfix KB828741 (Remote Zugriff)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\123 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\KB828741.EXE -u -n -z" /f REG ADD %KEY%\124 /VE /D "Hotfix KB828749 (Remote Zugriff)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\124 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\KB828749.EXE -u -n -z" /f REG ADD %KEY%\125 /VE /D "Hotfix KB828035 (Remote Zugriff)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\125 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\KB828035.EXE -u -n -z" /f REG ADD %KEY%\126 /VE /D "Hotfix KB825119 (Remote Zugriff)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\126 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\KB825119.EXE -u -n -z" /f REG ADD %KEY%\127 /VE /D "Hotfix KB823182 (Remote Zugriff)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\127 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\KB823182.EXE -u -n -z" /f REG ADD %KEY%\128 /VE /D "Hotfix KB826232 (Security)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\128 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\KB826232.EXE -u -n -z" /f REG ADD %KEY%\129 /VE /D "Hotfix KB824105 (Security)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\129 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\KB824105.EXE -u -n -z" /f REG ADD %KEY%\130 /VE /D "Hotfix KB823559 (Security)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\130 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\KB823559.EXE -u -n -z" /f REG ADD %KEY%\131 /VE /D "Hotfix KB329115 (Security)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\131 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\KB329115.EXE -u -n -z" /f REG ADD %KEY%\132 /VE /D "Hotfix Q832894 (IE6 Patch)" /f rem REG ADD %KEY%\132 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\Q832894.exe /q:a /r:n" /f REG ADD %KEY%\132 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\Q832894.exe /q /r:n" /f REG ADD %KEY%\133 /VE /D "Hotfix Q831167 (IE6 Patch)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\133 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\Q831167.exe /q /r:n" /f REG ADD %KEY%\134 /VE /D "Hotfix Q837009 (OE6 Patch)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\134 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\Q837009.exe /q /r:n" /f REG ADD %KEY%\135 /VE /D "Hotfix KB819639 (Media-Player 9 Patch)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\135 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\KB819639.exe /Q" /f REG ADD %KEY%\136 /VE /D "Hotfix KB828026 (Media-Player 9 Patch)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\136 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\KB828026.exe -u -n -z" /f REG ADD %KEY%\300 /VE /D "Cleaning Up and Rebooting" /f REG ADD %KEY%\300 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\AutoLogon.cmd" /f REG ADD %KEY%\300 /V 2 /D "%systemdrive%\install\cleanup.cmd" /f EXIT Is it necessary to ADD Qchain.exe to my GuiRunOnce.cmd ? The Guide at: http://www.unattended.msfn.org/xp/installhotfixes.htm says to finish svcpack.inf with qchain.exe, but didn't explain, if it's also necessary by using hotfixes.cmd or GuiRunOnce... If I check my updates at the windows-update-homepage, all hotfixes seem to be installed correct! BTW: Does anybody know, where I could get the "Windows Update Software", which has to be installed, before you can check online your software version, hotfixes...? (I would like to include it to my unattended CD) Thx for helping !
  13. I think, you may have to check first your winnt.sif, if OEMPreInstall is set correct: [Unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended UnattendSwitch=Yes OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=Yes ;$OEM$ copied Hope this helps...
  14. PoNi: As mentioned in a previous post, you can get REG.EXE as a part of the W2K SP4 Support Tools and download them here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downl...upporttools.asp Joe User 99: Thx, I'll try. The Internet Explorer Administration Kit link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ieak/down...k6/ieak6sp1.asp
  15. I think, if the printer-installation also works by Right-Mouse-Click at INF-File and selecting Install under Windows-Explorer, you could install it, like I did with W2K-Tweak-Utilities: REG ADD %KEY%\002 /VE /D "Installing Tweak Utilities" /f REG ADD %KEY%\002 /V 1 /D "%SystemRoot%\System32\rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %systemdrive%\INSTALL\Tweak\tweakui.inf" /f running in my RunOnceEx.Cmd - Hope this helps... BTW: Did you first try it this way ? Driver Installation Guide
  16. homiebrah: thanks for your response ! Right now my winnt.sif [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=* AutoLogon=Yes AutoLogonCount=5 but second restart/logon doesn't work automated. (I'll try AutoLogonCount 99 next time...) And I tried several times your mentioned (and in the forum found) MDAC-syntax & it "seems" to install, but when I start Windows-Update afterwards - MDAC remains as an important update. If I install it manually it's updated correct!?
  17. unfortunately I've got a new problem, which makes my unattended installation not "perfect": As I described above - the IE6 installation forces reboot, but: I have to logon as administrator with mouse-click or enter. I tried a lot, but cannot find the right location to run my autologon.reg file. (afterwards it works btw) cmdow @ /HID @echo off SET KEY= HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx REG ADD %KEY% /V TITLE /D "Installiere Anwendungen und Updates" /f REG ADD %KEY%\001 /VE /D "Installing Tweak Utilities" /f REG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 1 /D "%SystemRoot%\System32\rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %systemdrive%\INSTALL\Tweak\tweakui.inf" /f ...and so on til the end of file: REGEDIT /S %systemdrive%\install\AutoLogon.reg EXIT my AutoLogon.Reg: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "AutoAdminLogon"="1" I also tried to run it, before runonceex.cmd in cmdlines.txt, but hadn't either effect. Thanks for your help... (BTW: The only Hotfix, which doesn't work "silent" under W2K - and I tried also on different locations - is the KB832483 (MDAC). And I read all threads about and tried syntax as described, of course. No I run it with REG ADD %KEY%\070 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\Q832483.exe /Q" /f and the user has to click "OK" for installation & then it's really updated. Maybe there's a difference between W2K and WXP?)
  18. Greenmachine: Thanks for sharing your work ! I'm happy that I've found a solution to change the cdrom-driveletters, but - as I'm a newbie - at which point of the unattended installation process your script is/has to be/or can be executed ? Thanks in advance
  19. thx for your comments ! At the moment I prefer: ie6setup.exe /Q (inc. Reboot) and my solution for the rest RunOnceEx.Commands is: ..... REG ADD %KEY%\005 /VE /D "Internet Explorer 6..." /f REG ADD %KEY%\005 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\ie6\ie6setup.exe /Q" /f REG ADD %KEY%\050 /VE /D "Hotfix Q832894 (IE6 Patch)..." /f REG ADD %KEY%\050 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\Q832894.exe /q:a /r:n" /f ..... end with leaving "keys" empty between - IE-Setup finishes installation after rebooting, before the rest of my commands will be executed. I think finishing IE-Setup completely before installing the IE6-Hotfixes makes more sense.....
  20. As I figured it out now , I want to let you all know: My file "Reg.Exe" (not included under W2K), I downloaded, had the wrong version !! - That's why I got error: too many command-line parameters. After downloading the right one - as a part of the W2K SP4 Support Tools - you can get it here: RunOnceEx.Cmd's work fine now & and as Alanoll posted: Every command will be executed, although of rebooting. - And that's the main difference instead of using batch-files, I think.
  21. thx for your hint ! I tried now with runonce.cmd, but... Nothing happened ! Does RunOnce also "runs" under W2K ? my: RunOnceEx.Cmd #### cmdow @ /HID @echo off SET KEY=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx REG ADD %KEY% /V TITLE /D "Installiere Anwendungen" /f REG ADD %KEY%\001 /VE /D "Internet Explorer 6..." /f REG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\ie6\ie6setup.exe /Q" /f REG ADD %KEY%\005 /VE /D "Hotfixes (Blaster)..." /f REG ADD %KEY%\005 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\KB823980.exe -u -n -z" /f EXIT #### I copied: RunOnceEx.cmd and cmdlines.txt as needed in my $OEM$ folder BTW: If I execute RunOnceEx.cmd no changes take effect in my registry !!! Thanks in advance, Ander
  22. Hi everybody, I searched a lot in the forum, but couldn't find... I'm workin' on an Unattended W2K-Installation (Slipstreamed SP4) - including Hotfixes as described in your gread guides. As I'm thinking that's foolish or not possible to for example install the hotfix (security update for ie6) before ie6 is already installed, I want to install ie6 before ! But how is it possible, because the installation of ie6 forces reboot & that's why the rest of my install.cmd (the same if I would use runonceex I think) will not be executed !? Is there a way to add commands for the "next time reboot" ? - Help would be very much appreciated ! Ander
