  1. Let's let people test for some more time: if nobody finds any difference in the results obtained with the 2nd update and those obtained with the third, I shall withdraw the latter.
    Hi dencorso,

    here is a new site displaying a banner 'You are using an outdated browser' even with your reg:

    :angry:http://www.addictinggames.com/ .

    I have tried:

    - to spoof 'User Agent' in

    [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]

    & [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]

    (= 3rd update),

    - to add the keys in

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent]

    (= my post #154),

    - to use the key given to install Flash10 with KernelEx

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion]
    "CurrentVersion"="5.1"

    ...but none is working :blushing:

    It seems that the script used for it, is in:

    http://www.addictinggames.com/static/js/et...erInfoModule.js

    and the banner called 'mamabar',

    but I didn't understood where it is reading in the registry. :wacko:

  2. he said it does not contain anything useful
    I have compared the two files ('DirectX_Dec2006_redist' & your 'Unofficial DX90C'):

    -> there is 4 different files

    • dsetup32.dll

    • dxdllreg_x86.cab

    • DXSETUP.exe

    • dxupdate.cab

    but well, could be only because of the new files,

    -> and 11 new files (with new content)

    • APR2007_d3dx10_33_x86.cab

    • APR2007_d3dx9_33_x86.cab

    • APR2007_XACT_x86.cab

    • APR2007_xinput_x86.cab

    • AUG2007_d3dx10_35_x86.cab

    • AUG2007_d3dx9_35_x86.cab

    • AUG2007_XACT_x86.cab

    • FEB2007_XACT_x86.cab

    • JUN2007_d3dx10_34_x86.cab

    • JUN2007_d3dx9_34_x86.cab

    • JUN2007_XACT_x86.cab

    but to say they are useless ... :unsure::unsure:

  3. @ Dandee:

    Hi Dandee, :hello:

    RP9 Icon Pack is a nice work :) ,

    but Uninstall (and way back) is not clean at all with the SystemIcons.reg!

    I had to delete manually the folder C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\IconSkan (and his content), besides the file C:\SystemIcons.reg

    and to restore the whole folder C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Icons from the original RP9.exe.

  4. -> Apps from Win XP:

    * MSPAINT.exe is working, but you have to had 'mfc42u.dll' (from C:\WINDOWS\system32) in the same folder or in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

    * CALC.exe is working

    * OSK.exe is NOT working

    * WORDPAD.exe is NOT working

    * CHARMAP.exe is working, but you have to had 'getuname.dll' (from C:\WINDOWS\system32) in the same folder or in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

    -> Last VLC 1.03 is working fine (but not skins)

    This is a fantastic work! :thumbup Win98SE is obviously much more stable. :thumbup

  5. BTW, if I can suggest some features:

    * I definitely agree with slhk [in Post #240] that getting an alarm (in the systray) about resources would be very useful, :yes:

    and that a unique board with KTM is more friendly.

    * Now, that we can customize all our OS from inside RPConfig, the main skin-tweak missing is the change of Cursors. Why not a new tab for them?

    * What else? RP9 is amazing! :D

    Charles.

  6. Hi Tihiy,

    RP9 is fantastic. :thumbup Great work!

    I have a question:

    when I do the Ctrl+Alt+Del, I find often the message in "System Information":

    "System appears unstable. Press ''Shutdown'' to quickly..."

    System resources seems to be OK.

    What am I suppose to do to improve this? :rolleyes::}

    This warning can disappear by itself after a while.

  7. Beta 4 is released.

    Something is boring me.

    Is it be possible that the installation script may not be fully functional?

    I have checked the version number of my ASPI's after the install of SP3 Beta4 and it is unchanged:

    showing version 1.0 for WNASPI32.DLL & WINASPI.DLL, version 4.0 for APIX.VXD (& no ASPIENUM.VXD at all)!

    Could it be possible for someone (who had ticked the upgrade of Aspi) to check this glitch?

    It means also this part of the install was not working for me, with SP2 and previous SP3 :unsure: .

  8. I'm glad my 2nd update is enough.

    ... Let's let people test for some more time

    dencorso, I'd checked the all 5 sites provided by duffy98, with your 2nd update only.

    Each one is telling XP with IE7, with no evidence of Win 98 or IE 6! :thumbup

    I am still getting XP as my OS when I go to the first 2 sites. I am not sure about KernelEX.
    duffy98, here is the personnal reg file I use to go back to my exact initial point, on Win98SE and IE 6.

    When I use it, I get Windows 98 & IE 6 on your 5 sites! :rolleyes:

    So try it, we never know:

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
    "User Agent"="Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Win32)"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Version Vector]
    "IE"="6.0000"
    "zIE"=-

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent]
    @=""
    "Compatible"=-
    "Platform"=-
    "Version"=-

    [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
    "User Agent"="Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Win32)"

    (with a empty line at the bottom).

    Be carefull: I erase the key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent] because it didn't existed at all for me. So have a look first that it doesn't included anything else in your registry.

    If it's not enough,

    1-Empty your browser cache (most often: C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files)

    2-make a search in your registry for the string: Windows NT 5

    Normally, it doesn't have to appear.

    BTW, KernelEx 4 is not a problem.

    I have it installed also.

  9. are you being able to access http://windower.net/ie6.html? All I'm getting is a # 403 error (Forbidden)...

    However it may use the HKU\.DEFAULT string (or the HKCU string), in case my reg hack doesn't work with that site. There should be another "User Agent" at HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings, and this may be the more important entry (in case we find out we do have to spoof them also).

    ...

    And be sure to report your findings, please.

    The site was down this morning, but it is OK now.

    The page: http://windower.net/ie6.html has nothing to do with the User Agent spoofing.

    It is the place were you are redirected from an another page containing the script.

    You can check one of these (but the server is not working so well):

    http://forums.windower.net/

    http://www.windower.net/forums/lofiversion...x.php?f1-0.html

    http://www.windower.net/forums/topic/15028-patch-download/

    Even the 2nd update of your reg files is spoofing them!

    I have not been able to find a site needing the new strings in HKCU & HKU.

    Everything is opening with the 2nd version of your files.

    We could also think about those keys, used to spoof the "User Agent" of the Pocket PC's (=Pocket Internet Explorer):

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent]
    @="Mozilla/4.0"
    "Compatible"="compatible"
    "Platform"="Windows NT 5.1"
    "Version"="MSIE 7.0"

    :hello:

  10. Here is a new version of a simple way to change the user agent and version vector sent by IE6, using only the registry.

    It works great :thumbup:thumbup:thumbup with all the sites I try!

    Thanks a lot, dencorso

    By the way, I'd found another place for "User Agent" in my registry:

    [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
    "User Agent"="Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Win32)"

    Is there any use to change it?

  11. If Windows Media Player 7 or 9 is installed on your system it is not re-registering msdxm.ocx which is a component of Media Player 6

    which will solve the problem.

    Hi eidenk, :)

    I have Windows Media Player version 9.00.00.3354 installed, which is still working like a charm.

    This install includes mplayer2.exe, which is Windows Media Player 6.4.07.1129.

    BTW, I have got installed DirectX 7.0. Could it change something with the last version 9.0c?

    Best version of msdxm.ocx is the one you originally had.
    For msdxm.ocx, I'd only "tried" to upgrade, but afterward went back to the original version 6.4.07.1129 ;)

    I don't understand your advice to "solve the problem", what am I suppose to do?

    I had already re-registered msdxm.ocx, with Run: regsvr32 msdxm.ocx, but it doesn't help.

    Thx in advance.

    Charles.

  12. try IEFix v. 1.6 after applying SESP3b3.

    If that doesn't work, you might try v. 1.5

    Hello dencorso,

    thanks for the help :)

    What I did:

    * Tried to re-register the ActiveX of WMP by: regsvr32 msdxm.ocx, and re-boot -> no help;

    * Tried IEFix v1.6, and re-boot -> no help;

    * Tried to repair IE6 from Install/Desinstall, and re-boot -> no help!

    * Tried an upgrade of msdxm.ocx: from version 6.4.07.1129 to version 6.4.09.1125, and re-boot -> no help!

    What else could I try?? :angry::wacko:

    Any idea would be welcomed!

    NB: there is no IEFix version 1.5 on the site, and from the History it doesn't seems to be so different:

    (v1.6) May 19, 2006

    - Registers msxml3.dll (Windows XP), and minor coding changes.

    (v1.5) March 5, 2005 :

    - No longer runs System File Checker (SFC).

    - Fixes Internet Explorer App Paths registry value if set incorrectly.

  13. Please,

    could someone help me.

    I'd already explained my problem last year (here),

    but got no answer :(:no:

    I'd installed WinSP3 b3 in the last French version,

    but still loose afterward the hability to read WMV files when they are embedded in IE6.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!! :wacko:

  14.  Removed support for Windows 9x due to new Unicode version of AutoIt;
    9x was never officially supported, but it will not even execute now

    Hi nitro322,

    thx for this update.

    Could you make a version supported by Windows 9x, even if it had not all the features of the main one?

    It would be useful & very appreciated by several people.

    The version 1.5 is working well in most cases on these OS's.

    CharlesF.

  15. Hi, :hello:

    i've installed the new "98SE SP3.0 Beta3" (in french translation)

    on my Win 98SE + IE6 SP1 (+ WMP9),

    and it brought me 2 bugs:

    1°) the window of the search function (= F3) is blank: the top is normal, I can write the word I'm searching for,

    but the bottom were the results are supposed to appear, stays blank.

    This issue is corrected if I install after the patched "Shell98 v.4.72.3812.634"

    2°) my browser cannot read anymore the Wmv videos embedded in a webpage.

    For instance, here: http://jt.france2.fr/13h/,

    I see the player but don't read anything.

    Thanks, if you can help.

    Regards. :D

    CharlesF

    Edit:

    1°) for the "SHELL" problem, same thing with "Win98SE SP3.0 Beta2",

    but the SP2 is working fine.

    2°) for the "Wmv videos embedded" problem, I had tried SP2, SP3B2 & SP3B3 with the same result!

    (between each try, I restore the initial state using Drive Image).

    I had tried also to reinstall WMP 9 on the top with the MPSetup.exe file, and then the Codec Installation Package for WMP9 (of MS), but it didn't help at all !!

    I don't understand... :(
