and where do i add those reg keys?

Ok guys I'm just going to copy and paste my thread from ryanvm forums
http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=89229#89229 <-- just incase anyone wants to go directly there
ok after doing a little tinkering around i was finally able to get the new file on the first post to installi just renamed it to what the old file used to be called and just overwrote the file
so to be clear i renamed Stimpy_JD976_DotNetFX3.5SP1_Addon_v2.1.7z to
DOTNETFX_ALL_IN_1_ADDON_V2.2
and just overwrote the old DOTNETFX_ALL_IN_1_ADDON_V2.2 with the one i renamed
now it works fine but windows update still detects the kb article 951847 as a 248mb hotfix
however
if i choose to dl it it only downloads 16.8mb
the 3 files it downloads are
NDP20SP2-KB958481-X86
NDP30SP2-KB958483-X86
NDP35SP1-KB958484-X86
my question is now how can i get those files to install during my windows installation so when I go to windows update I don't have to install them?
anyone know how to add these updates so we dont need to install them at windows update?
I am currently trying to put them in the HF folder but I don't think that will work because they are dotnet service packs which I do not think will work
anyone have any ideas?
(maybe via guirunonce ((but i dont know what switches to use to make that work properly)) can anyone give me a little direction?)
thanks!

i had tried it but i couldnt get it to work properly with hf slip
i also have the previous 7z switchless version of the dotnet installer but now the new one came out and i dont think it has been made yet by anyone
i would have to try the silent .net one to see if i can get it to work

I understand however I have tried (I use hfslip) and it always fails using silent .net maker I don't know why
the file I am currently using is netfxaio.exe I got it on that thread I guess someone 7zipped it and created a self extracting exe but im not really sure how to do it
that being said
the file its 232mb unpacked and zipped it is 50 mb I dont know how to compress it that much either.

Ok guys heres the newest dotnet
the kb article is
kb951847
the package from ms says it got released yesterday
its 248mb
has anyone been able to successfully integrate this into their setup?

ya thats the thing I would like to know how to get it into an xp installation unattended.
if not everytime you do windows update it asks you to dl this article and its 232 mb...

Ok I would need to know something
there is a file that I have here the current file i use to install the dot nets it is called netfxaio.exe
what I did was i extracted the new update that microsoft made and i extracted the netfxaio.exe
I made the files look exactly the same so basiacally the netfxaio.exe is now the new kb951847
my only problem is that if i double click on netfxaio.exe it silently installs the files
(how would i repackage the extracted kb951847 to be a self installing file like the netfxaio.exe)
i believe if i did that it would work
also netfxaio compress is 50mb when extracted it is 250
what method is used here?

no the install works fine thats not a problem what i wanted to know is if we can integrate this in our unattended setups
so far i put it in the hfsvcpack folder (which i think is the folder that runs at t-13) it asks me to accept to install when i get to that point
i press i agree
then it crashes
i get a setup error
so putting it in hfsvcpack stock right off the download link does not work unattended
p.s.
that second link is not a direct download it just tells you to go download the hotfix on the windows update site.

thats not a very helpful answer.
Considering I had more than one question in my thread
but what I would like to know is if theres a way to get around this new KB thats out there?
I currently am installing a new ISO of windows
I put it in the HF folder
hfsvcpack
hfguirunonce
i will assume it has to work somewhere heh
ill report back with my findings

Has anyone tried to install this update?
do you just put it in your HF folder?
I understand it is an update of all the dotnets available but it still comes up as a hotfix in windows update if you don't have this kb article installed.
anyone have any ideas?

Hey guys I have a question. I have a complete unattended setup of Windows XP it installs all the updates including the dot nets
After I would install this copy of windows I would go to Windows update and see 0 updates (This is as of January 13 2009)
Today (January 28 2009) I went to Windows update and my Windows update detects a 248.4 MB update called
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x86
now i googled the kb article and came up with a file called dotnetfx35 which is 231.x mb so it is significantly smaller than the one on the MS site.
My question is what is this update can I just put it in my HF folder and it will do the rest (because I know that dot net is really picky and does not like to be installed via the HF folder)
What do I do with my existing .net files from my original cd?

Do you have any names of programs that preform this function?
Do you have to pay for these 3rd party softwares?
scratch the "do you have to pay" comment I just checked GFI's site the only one that looks like what i need is GFI Mail Archiver but I don't know if that is what I want.
I found one called Mail Detective this one I believe does what I want it to do.
Are there any freeware ones?

Hey guys sorry if I'm in the wrong forum I can't find any forums that deal with exchange.
My question is regarding Microsoft Exchange 2003
I would like to know if there is a way for myself (the sys admin) to be able to see a user's incoming and outgoing mail without him knowing. Is there a way to monitor who's mail is coming and going in exchange without the user knowing?
Would really be helpful
thanks!

Hey guys I'm having trouble slipstreaming Security Update for Windows XP Service Pack 3 with Hf Slip 1.7.8 I put it in my HF folder but it does not seem to want to take the update after installation.
The file I downloaded is 6.2 Mb I'm pretty sure I downloaded the right file.
Anyone having trouble slipstreaming it
MS issued 5 updates as of last night, I was able to Slipstream 4 but I tried twice with KB952069 and I can't get it to work....any ideas?

Hello guys I don't know if I'm in the right forum for this but I have a question.
I installed Server 2008 on VMware Server 1.0.7 (Yes I know it does not support Server 2008 but you can still install it no problems.)
Now my goal here is to create my own little domain I want to have about 5 or 6 virtual machines on a different domain from the one I am currently on.
So for example when I first get into work in the morning I log on to my PC and I log on to my machine I am logging on to Domain A but once I start my VMs they will be on Domain B.
Now the installation of Server 2008 went well everything installed fine but this is where I start getting problems.
If I let Vmware obtain an IP automatically I have no problems accessing the Internet however as soon as I assign an IP manually (I am trying to assign it automatically because it is a domain controller) I loose internet.
I know that there are some things that I need to configure in VMware to be able to get my static IP to communicate correctly with my host machine but I don't know what I have to do.
My static IP on the DC is 10.1.10.10 and the IP of the machine it is installed on is a 172.16.x.x address. How do I make the VM understand that it has to keep its static IP but be able to have internet?
Thanks
If I'm unclear just let me know I'll try to better explain it.

Guys I don't know if I'm in the right forum but I am trying to deploy a remote installation
I get an error during the remote install saying insufficient memory to load dmboot.sys please press any key to continue and then the machine reboots
I am trying to do this with a HP 6730b machine.
Does anyone know what this problem can be it only happens with this particular machine I have 4 machines and all 4 do the same thing.
I presumed it was because the drive was in ACHI so I changed it to IDE and it still does not work.
Anyone ever have this problem or know what I can do to fix it.
Thanks!

Hey guys I have a quick question regarding this particular thread
http://www.msfn.org/board/Streamline-Micro...indows++updates
the actual question I have is regarding this
create c:\msupdate
stop the automatic updates service and rename the %windir%\softwaredistribution\datastore\datastore.edb file to datastore.old.
start the automatic updates service so it creates a "clean" datastore.edb file (1mb) and then stop the service again.
copy the datastore.edb file to c:\msupdate
delete %windir%\softwaredistribution\datastore\datastore.edb
rename %windir%\softwaredistribution\datastore\datastore.old to datastore.edb
start the automatic updates service
copy %windir%\system32\muweb.dll to c:\msupdate
save the bolded text beneath as c:\msupdate\msupdate.cmd
@echo off
copy "muweb.dll" %windir%\system32
net stop wuauserv
del %windir%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\DataStore.edb
copy "DataStore.edb" %windir%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore
regsvr32 /s muweb.dll
net start wuauserv
REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\microsoft.com" /v "*" /t REG_DWORD /d "2" /f
REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\windowsupdate.com" /v "*" /t REG_DWORD /d "2" /f
REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\1" /v "1001" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f
REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\1" /v "1809" /t REG_DWORD /d "3" /f
REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\1" /v "1200" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f
REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\2" /v "1200" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f
REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\2" /v "1001" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f
REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\2" /v "1809" /t REG_DWORD /d "3" /fNow this actually works however the only problem with this is when it runs at the guirunonce in hfslip after it runs that little .cmd the dos prompt stays open
the only way to actually continue the installation is to type Exit or close the dos box so it can go onto the next screen
how do the dos box just close by itself
(by the way that little .cmd that was written works very well it installs the active X silently and works perfecly fine)
Thanks!
