  1. Hi, If your interested you can also copy the Win98 msconfig and use it on Win 95
  2. @dkreifus Downloaded your tweak file thanks. Copied out your visual settings section and poasted into my regtweak.reg file. Put the regtweak.reg file into $OEM$ folder with cmdlines.txt file Edited cmdlines.txt to contain the following [Commands] "REGEDIT /S regtweak.reg" burnt cd and tested. the slipstream worked fine and it installed winzip and acrobat etc during setup but didn't seem to run the regtweak file (no desktop icons etc) navigated to the reg file and double clicked, desktop icons imediatly showed up and the start menu tweaks had worked but.... The visual effects were all turned on still (this section copied from yours) any ideas why either the visual effects didn't turn off or why the reg file was not applied at T-12 or Both Any help would be great Format19
  3. Thanks for the reply. I have read the guide over and over and over again. I have gone boggle eyed trying to figure this out, I am not an id***. I have been trying for weeks doing this myself and finaly in desparation have put up a post. The problem is: In your reg tweaks file (thanks for attaching) under visual effects you have each of the values set to 1 ie. [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VisualEffects\ComboBoxAnimation] "DefaultApplied"=dword:00000001 I have tried setting all of these to dword:00000000 (to untick the box) as by having it as dword:00000001 this turns the value on? Is there something else I am doing wrong I will attach the reg tweak file which I have been using (its only short) thanks for the help Format19 AllCSCTwk.txt
  4. Have been following all the post in the reg tweaks section and in the Unatended section, Some great suggestions I am trying(for the last 3 weeks) to create a slipstream cd of XP to use in my computer shop for reinstalling customers machines icluding the SP1, the main MS patches and winzip, acrobat, WMP9 I followed the MSFN walkthrough which was great and all the cd is working finally. Now if I can just do a few standard tweaks which we do to every new XP system during the installation at T-12 (from CMDlines.txt) it would be great. I have spent 4 days sifting through the registry my self and went boggle eyed because there seems to be a lot of reduntant (or duplicated) code in the reg (sloppy programming from MS) I have now spent 2 more days trauling web sites (mainly MSFN forums) and tried all kinds of software for tracking the changes made in the registry but with very limited success. here is what I am trying to do------ ********************************** 1) under 'Sytem properties' -->Advanced---->Performance settings trying to untick all boxes except the bottom 3 2) Display properties--> Dektop ---> Customize Desktop---> Turn on all 4 desktop icons and turn off cleanup wizard 3) Display properties --> appearance---> Effects Turn off all tick boxes except the second one down 4) Taskbar and start menu properties---> Turn off 'Group similar similar taskbar buttons' Turn on 'Quicklaunch' Turn off 'Hide inactive icons' Thats it thats all I'm trying to do (part one seems to be the hardest one to nail down. If i put all these tweaks into one reg file and call that file from cmdlines.txt at T-12 am I right in thinking that these settings will then be the default for all new users If you can help I would be extremley greatful Cheers Format19
