  1. I was using nlite 1.491 to customize the XPsp3en disc, while there always was a consistant error "file icfgnt.dll missed" poping up in the middle, as a consequence, IE cannot be used after the XP installation, neither IE7 can be installed. That error seems very much likely to be caused by the change of the "Program Files" directory. In my customized installation disc no removal of components, services, and etc have been made, whereas some changes like the built-in adminstrator/guest name, and the default paths had been made, as a result the error message keeps poping up. However, if I keep the default path of "Program Files" intact, the error disappears right away. Afterwards, keeping the intact "Program Files" path, I remove any component or service as will, the error still does not show up either, and the setuperr.log file appears to be empty after installation. I am not sure whether this is related to nlite or not. Only that, I have used the manually written unattend file to change the "Program Files" directory with XPsp2en[note: NOT sp3] before, everything went smooth. In these two threads I thought it is caused by nlite and IE7, but indeed it is not and I was wrong. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=128705 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=128678 I would like to say thank you to all those gave suggestions to help in these two threads, and sorry about the copy right issues -- I really did not know the BT approach is illeagal, neither I meant to break the rule here in this forum.
  2. Still illegal. And illegal activities are not allowed on this board?! But I had an MSDN account for downloading when I was a student...and I still got my personal msdn product key[for me only]... it is not fair to ban my further usage of this... but, could we focus on the problem first? I would like to solve it indeed.
  3. Thank you very much. But now it has been turned out that, the problem does not related to IE7 at all. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=128705
  4. Thank you very much. But now it has been cleared that, the problem does not related to IE7 at all. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=128705
  5. So you're using a retail version while you only own an OEM version? That's probably not legal... uhhh....but i am not distributing it to anybody else. for my personal use only
  6. I got my own oem disc come with my laptop, but actually i am using an ISO from Bittorrent download, the file name is "en_windows_xp_professional_with_service_pack_3_x86_cd_vl_x14-73974.iso" this file's md5 hash code is the same as the one published via MSDN by M$, so it can be confirmed as the official image. And I did not remove any component, not even a single component at all. my lastsessoin.ini has been attached, please have a look thank you. Your help is appreciated. Last_Session.ini
  7. The problem has been solved in this thread http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=129217 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have done the following to try to generate an ISO with the slightest modification, using the M$ official MSDN XPsp3 ISO image: I used nlite1.4.9.1 ONLY to change the user name and default log on user with official MSDN XPsp3, and nothing else. [What I really have done is, to modify the name "administrator" to "tim", and "guest" to "minn", and set tim to be automatically logged on] NO hotfix, NO integradation[except the original sp3 package is selected from the official ISO file], NO driver, NO removal, NO any other change. But there is an icfgnt.dll missing error popping up in the middle way of installation. And the worst thing is, I cannot even start IE6 after this installation. Could you please have a look? Thank you very much. And the following is a copy of setuperr.log Error: F:\i386\msgr3en.dll was not copied to C:\WINDOWS\srchasst\msgr3en.dll because of the following error: The operation was canceled by the user. *** Error: Setup was unable to process some components because of the following error: The operation was canceled by the user. *** Error: Setup could not register the OLE Control C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\HelpHost.exe because of the following error: Unknown returned error 0 (0). *** Error: Setup could not register the OLE Control C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\brpinfo.dll because of the following error: LoadLibrary returned error 126 (the specified module could not be found). *** Error: Setup had problems registering the following OLE control DLL: C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetcfg.dll Contact your system administrator, who may provide assistance in diagnosing this problem. *** Error: Setup could not register the OLE Control C:\WINDOWS\system32\activeds.dll because of the following error: DllRegisterServer returned error 2147746132 (80040154). *** Error: Setup could not register the OLE Control e:\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo\ieinfo5.ocx because of the following error: LoadLibrary returned error 126 (the specified module could not be found). ***
  8. Oh...I hope you do not mind the font too much because it is my first post. The version of nlite which I used is 1.491. And I have actually been looking through the post you gave in the link to tried out all the methods but none does help. So I think it is some mysterious reason caused by nlite. I have done the following: Only to use nlite to change the official MSDN XPsp3 with user name and default log on user only, and nothing else. No hotfix, no integradation, no driver, no removal, no any other change. But the icfgnt.dll missing error pops up in the middle way of installation. And the worst thing is, I cannot even start IE6 after this installation. The last session.ini is attached, please have a look. Your kind help is appreciated. Last_Session.ini
  9. Hi~ I am using WinXPsp3. The size of directory "C:\windows\installer" is always keeping growing when i install new programs. I would like to control it and I have tried to use gpedit.msc -> computer configuration -> administrative templates -> windows components -> windows installer -> baseline file cache maximum size -> setting -> enable, with number 0. but this does not work at all! is this the right way to solve the problem? if so, could anybody tell why it does not work? if not, please specify a correct way, thank you very much.
  10. The problem has been solved in this thread http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=129217 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi~all. i got serious problem with IE7 after its intergration to XPsp3. I use nlite 1.49, and the original M$ official XPsp3 ISO image, and the IE7 .exe installation file from the M$ official website. I did not remove too much component or services. The intergrated ISO file works, and the modified XP can be succefully installed, except that there was one error promotion during the installation procedure: "icfgnt.dll missing"... but after I clicked the OK button, the installation goes on quite well. After the installation, if I click on the IE icon, there will be an IE window comes out within a very short time. The IE window flashes and it disappears immediately. Could anyone please help to solve the problem? Thank you very much!
